    Hello Dr,
    I have been having this issue for almost all my life, in fact I have it as we speak,
    My nose is not normal, as of right now it blocks and unblocks literally with every movement and every minute but the block time is more, when I was a kid, unfortunately I used to abuse the nasal drops so much that it destroyed my nose, i quit it, took a new treatment from a doctor that helped for years, this year though it started to come back and I cant help but use drops again but rarely, only when i am going to sleep or fully blocked, i really don't know what to do, thank you.

    Hi Dr. When I lie down my nostrils mainly on one side nearly immediately block up. I can get to sleep, but I wake up with a dry throat after a few hours and struggle to get back to sleep., I also have persistent postnasal drip. This has occurred for three years, I have had turbinate reduction surgery, which helped for a few days but then the blockage occurred again. I have had allergy tests and nothing notable showed up. Any suggestions? My NHS consultant thinks it is psychological since the blockage mainly occurs when I lie down. I have tried steroid sprays and they work for a day or two and they revert back to being blocked,

      I have exactly the same issue please keep me updated. I had a trauma when I was 13 when a girl landed on my face on a trampoline. I had septoplastic correction of the partition wall a few years later. I still have breathing complications to this day. Sleeping is an on going struggle. I’ve had an MRI scan and only minor deviation of the nasal wall. I can’t put it down to anything else but these turbinate things. Nasal sprays provide only minor temporary relief and this is really badly effecting my life at this point.

    • @psugrowler1
      @psugrowler1 6 місяців тому +2

      Could be a floppy turbinate despite the fact you've had the correction. I had the same thing. It took two microfrequency ablations to finally restore my full breathing. I suffered for years and went to 4 different ENTs. Had a septoplasty, sinus revision and stents along the way.

    I have done many (4-5 times) radiofrequency reduction , 1 time laser operation and 1 time Rhinoloplasty surgery, I still have proplem due to turbinates. Actually laser operation gave me 4 years relief from my symptoms of nose block. Now when I go for doctor now they told me that radiofrequency operation would be risk for me while I had 4-5 times before. Is it gonna be a problem if I exposed myself to another Radiofrequency reduction. ? Some of doctors told me it may cause Empty Nose Syndrome.? Is that true ?

    • @SinusDoctor1
      @SinusDoctor1  Рік тому

      Hi, Allergy shots (immunotherapy) may help reduce turbinate swelling if it is caused by previously unknown allergies. By gradually exposing your immune system to small amounts of the allergen, allergy shots can help build tolerance and reduce allergic reactions, which may in turn decrease turbinate inflammation and swelling. However, allergy shots require a long-term commitment and a series of injections over several months to years.
