The 80's were without a doubt the hardest era to play in. With strong fouls, 3pt line, etc... etc.. Things that Russell, Wilt, etc... didn't play against. The 90s are tougher than the 2000's. The 80's are tougher than the 90's, but the 80's are the epitome of toughness in the NBA due to the rule changes at the time and the super aggressive and championship caliber teams like the showtime lakers, boston celtics, and bad-boy pistons.
I would love to see just some of this passion for the game from these young "superstars" playing in the NBA now. This burning fire inside is the biggest difference between him and the rest. Always has been, never been matched.
Greatest basket ball player, yes. But it's unfair to say greatest athlete. What about Gretzky, Ali, Tyson, Pele or any other player in their respected sports? No one man will ever be the greatest athlete, only the top player in their sport
@@MrMoko282 only person that could be considered the best athlete is a decathlon athlete cause that is multiple events that's takes multiple skills of various events in track and field.
Besides being the best basketball player of all time, its is personality off the court that makes him the greatest player ever. He is so down to Earth, so respectful, so intelligent. Lebron just isnt...his comments to legitimate question are absurd, leaving the Cavs in the MANNER he did (not him actually leaving), he's just not a role model like MJ is. Every basketball player should model themselves after MJ, both on and off the court. THAT is why he is the best player ever in my mind
It's 2024 and Michael Jordan's still the greatest player ever in basketball history. Showing up to work doesn't count if you don't do your job when your employer needs you in clutch time.
Man, you can just tell he wants to play so badly. I've noticed he always looks so sad since his retirement, like tears in his eyes because of his longing to play ball. MAKE HIM YOUNG AGAIN.
He won’t even call himself the GOAT and LeBron has the audacity to say that he’s the goat smfh that’s why 99.9% of the collective universe thinks MJ will forever be the goat
@CHITOWN1987 but it's not just Monroe, it's alot of players that don't get praised as they should. It doesn't matter though, everyone has their own opinions.
@DownRightStupidsc mayb i misunderstood ur initial comment cuz i agree wit u dat der r alot of players dat have been 4gotten as time has passed &should get more credit such as monroe, king or even a player like sam jones who doesnt get talked about much when people mention the celtic dynasty...my point was dat der r very few players dat should b in da convo wit mj & monroe isnt 1 of dem eventhough he was a great player but fans should learn da history of da game & appreciate wat other b4 mj did
MJ probably thinks he's the GOAT lowkey, but won't say it in public or on any kind of platform. They've been calling him the best ever for a LONG time now. While he was playing mind you, it was basically consensus around the league that MJ is the best to ever pick up a ball, don't you think that motivated him? "Let me prove that I really am the best" something like that. I'm sure the topic of GOAT would come up in his legendary trash talk, how could it not?
MJ would destroy today's NBA even worse than the 90's era NBA. He was so mentally strong and focused on the court. Today's players don't even understand how dedicated he was. I believe he could score over 100 points today if he was in his prime.
I'm going to assume by ''they could have won every single year after they won the first one if he hadn't retired'' that you mean the Bulls couldv'e done a triple 3-peat from 1991-99. Because I also truly believe that nothing was going to stop MJ between the ages of 28-36. Who knows, he couldv'e been unstoppable for more than those eight years. But no question that MJ was unstoppable between 1991-99.
I defiantly think that had the Bulls stayed together after 1998, they would have won another championship in 1999. Jordan still had a lot left and I think the shortened 99 season would have really benefitted the Bulls!
@24chickenbutt i agree with that...and i dont base my entire opinion on stats and awards but it should be a factor if 1 player has 2 scoring titles and the other has 10...the gap is so large between them in stats and awards ranging from all aspects of the game from scoring, defense, efficiency that it makes a statement...if you feel kobe is better than state specific things and ill address them such as intensity knowledge or what you have seen that makes you think he is better
He is the greatest of all time and he gives the right answer unlike a certain primadonna and his millennial fans who don’t bother watching his games but would talk shit
@windex1234 Mj was competitive and wanted to be the best. but he palyed the game smart. Went for smarter plays and did what was necessary to win. A lot of young players nowadays would rather shoot the shot over 2 or mroe players to try to get the game winning shot rather than go for the smarter play. No matter how good a shooter you are, a person closer to the basket or not being defended is a smarter play unless that person who would normally be a smart decision to pass to is NEW to the game
@mistanderson You are 100% sir. You must be from Chicago. The Bulls actually would have won 10 or 11 in a row if Mike stayed in 94 and The Jerry's didn't break them up after 98.
7:44 ''I do believe we couldv'e won seven''. you guys just heard it from the master himself that even he believes the Bulls wouldv'e won a four-peat from '95-99 had they not have split up in '99 (thanks Jerry Krause). to make it even a higher possibility. '99 was a lockout of only 50 games played so in my mind they almost DEFINITELY wouldv'e won in '99 to have made it a four peat. thumbs me up if yall agree.
You guys don't understand how hard he practiced when he played baseball. Yeah he never made it, but it's pathetic that people mock his baseball career when he worked harder each and every day than most people can, let alone do, their entire lives.
As much as I love and appreciate Lebron and have no reservation in saying plainly that he'll probably come extremely close to MJ one day, so much so that the barbershop discussions will be very intense but funny enough I actually believe that it's the class, persona, swagger, speaking ability, pizzaz and charisma that he'll NEVER match MJ. Legends have to have that, you can't just be dancing and goofing off all the time. Come on Lebron you are my man but step the class game up.
Heck yeah, The Bulls could've won 7+ championships if they'd stayed together past 1998! One tiny correction to the reporter's statistics: other than Bill Russell, Robert Horry, and the '60s Celtics team, have 7, 8, 9, 10 rings, respectively. That of course, does not take anything away from MJ's success!
You guys must not know much about MJ... He didn't win until he started believing in his teamates. He learned that he couldn't do it on his own. It took him 7 years to learn that. Kobe has been in the league for 14 and he still hasn't learned that. That is why I believe that when it is all said and done, Lebron has the POTENTIAL to be the greatest overall player EVER...IMO.. He is the perfect blend of MJ, Magic, and Oscar... As Oscar has said before, "Lebron is in a league of his own"
@RugbyReligionAl True. But my hero also can hit the cleanest buzz beater shot. My hero has the most amazing work ethic. My hero proved the doubters wrong. My hero won 6 championships. You can't give all the blame on Jordan for the sweatshops. I mean Nike does have to get some blame too.
Yes MJ23 greatest basketball player ever..run for president..the guy cant even manage Bobcats, when he was player, share holder for wizards nothing happened as much as he tried, he had a failed marriage and had a huge gambling problem. Playing backetball MJ23 the GOAT, wish he can play forever..anything else..be real..he human like everyone else!!!
Jordan should give coaching a go, he is very competitive especially when it comes to basketball, why doesn't he say set a goal for himself to beat Phil Jackson's record, that would keep him occupied, and I'd love to see that. That being said I think he'd be too hard on his players from what I've seen of him, that perhaps he wouldn't be the best coach.
This means no disrespect for younger kids. I'm 27 and I've watched all the games when he was playing. I can't stand some kids trying to treat me about the history of Michael Jordan. Just because you wear all his retro shoes don't mean you have knowledge of what this man did for the game. When i was 17,18, 19 etc I couldn't afford his Jordan shoes and now that I can I can't stand how some kids think there high and mighty just because they wear his shoes. lol
@DownRightStupidsc Can we please mention the name Michael Jordan without acknowledging every single great that came before him? Is that okay with you? Oh by the way you mentioned Wil and Jerry West in your sentence but you forgot so many other players...how dare you? You gotta name them all everytime you talk about one of them.
1993 your favorite hero retired because he was gambling on himself..how a man so competitive as he was to quit and leave after a 3peat should explain my prior statement
Im 31 Ive seen Michael Ive seen Lebron. I love both for the fact that the cavs story began with MJ shooting us down. Isnt it ironic we'd draft LBJ! After that and lots of good times he leaves....the story continues He comes back but one thing a ring in CLE! 2015 is the year of OHIO and there will be more and when its said and done then ask me whos better because its not over yet boys!

Michael Jordan is the GREATEST athlete of All-Time!!!! NO DEBATE!!!!
