David Schultz was the Steve Austin of Stampede Wrestling in the early 80s. He wrestled like a heel but the fans loved him. He left Stampede in 1983 for the AWA. The he followed Hulk Hogan to the WWF.
Yes Sir. Seen David Von Schultz he was called in the Maratimes and what a heel. The Dr. And Killer Karl were my favorites I even remember when Randy and Leaping Lanny Poffo had their run in AGP they stole the show. SAVAGE was an excellent heel and he could work the ring but Schultz was just a huge legit heel. The only baby face I respected was Leo Burke
Bruce’s in ring work was surprisingly good for such a small guy who wasn’t necessarily a high flyer but he had a mouth on him so I’m not surprised that he got cuffed out more than once in Stampede Wrestling!! 😮😂
He looks like he's in great shape in his 60's. Obvious clean living. Still has that look like he could go to 100 mph in an instant if you piss him off.
Yet I'm bigger than Rooster Griffin. He's 5'6", billed at 245lbs, yet I'm taller & stockier than him. What would they have billed my weight at if I were there then as an adult?@@johnpeterson9266
Calgary gets extremely cold in the winter, maybe u don’t notice it as much if you’re on something……. I’m Canadian it’s cold there, yes Saskatchewan is often worse but both are no Vancouver
If my old wrinkled butt was ever in a very bad fight - I would sure pray this man would be on my side !!! Schultz -what you se is exactly what you get !!! Probably one of the most honest ones to ever enter the squared circle.
While I'm sure Schultz was/is tough, I am always skeptical of guys who feel like they have to tell you how tough they are and how they feared no man. I highly doubt Bad News Allen would have had any issues with him, had it come to down to it. In Bret's book, he mentioned Schultz and Hogan's relationship soured when they had a backstage wrestling match (not fistfight, just actually wrestling around in the locker room) and Schultz came out on the losing end. Hogan was not known for being a badass by any stretch of the imagination, so I do wonder how tough Schultz actually was. I've never heard that he tested anybody.
@@tedbundywastheultimatechad8400 He didn't insult Allen, you're right. But these little self-promoting bits are sprinkled throughout the overall interview. Again, I'm sure Doc was/is tough, just feels like the toughest guys didn't need to brag about it.
I couldn’t remember this story in his book but I just had a look and you’re right! Bret says it was a play-fight turned full blown scrap and Schultz eventually gave up, and that was when their friendship ended.
@@tedbundywastheultimatechad8400 if he insulted anyone it would have been Bret Hart. Making it seem like Bret fame was because of Vince and not because of Bret's abilities as a wrestler. Bret did more for WWF then the other way around. he was already popular in Europe, Africa, and Japan.

Evidently, Vince McMahon began giving Bret Hart "creative control" over his own character as far back as 1986. Bret told Vince that he would only do a job for Tom Magee if the match was untelevised. At the time, Bret Hart was a heel. That shows you how big Bret's ego was, long before he was given the World title push beginning in 1992. When I heard about Bret refusing to job to Tom Magee on TV, I immediately lost all sympathy for Bret concerning the Montreal Screwjob. Vince created the monster that was Bret Hart by capitulating to his demands early on his WWF career.
Why would one half of the tag team champions go out on tv and lose to an absolute nobody? It devalues the tag titles and Bret’s character. Bret understood the business better than most.

well, he was a PRO kid.

David Schultz was a great character!
"You wanna get a hold on me, you come get the hold." Hahaha
I saw David Schultz at Atlantic Grand Priz wrestling. One of the greatest performers.
Wrestlers* you wanna get an open hand slap dude? 😭
My dad used to take to to Atlantic Grand Prix in the 70's; Leo Burke, Cuban Assassin, Great Mulumba, Killer Karl Krupe . Great memories!
@@fureyhiggins3289 I miss those days. Leo Burke was great.

Dynamite loved David Schultz and wrote good things about him in his autobiography.
good to hear from doctor D
Shame it wasnt more recent though. This is almost 20 years old.
@@Millwall77 no video, audio only but Cornette did an interview w him a few years ago, should be easy to find on google
He was a great heel in Memphis. I lost track of him until he smacked John Stossel
There is nobody in this business who will tell it like it is better than Dr. D. Great to see interviews like this.
Still looks okay.
Did Doctor D ever find a woman in San Francisco?
lol
Nope -only men that looked like women.
Mean Gene busted out laughing, wonder how many other times that ever happened 😅😅😅
Nope
What are you laughing about ksmith? Aint nuthin funny
I still remember Bruce Hart from SS 93... clearly in business for himself. Not surprised he got himself slapped by Dr D.

“ I Love Schultz”!!
Dr. D David Schultz I like him
I BELIEVE the Dr. when he says that no man scares him…whew!!!!!!!
I loved DR.D's racist persona and heel character.
He's tellin' it like it is baybeh!
Knowing Stu he probably liked Schultz busting open Bruce Hart.
Ya..I hear he was the black sheep of the Hart family..Bret doesn't want nothing to do with him.
My first thought was "he's looking good for his age" then I realized it's almost 20 years old.

It's really a shame we didn't get more of the Doctor in WWF.
David ‘What’s the matter with you, that’s an open hand slap’? Schultz.
How could he leave out that Stu put a shoot hold on his wife? 😅
David
Spiking drinks shouldn’t really be considered a rib. But anyways, I’m glad the Mountie got his man. He always does!
Dynamite Kid was a prick & got what he deserved--countless wrestlers attest
Yeah what the!?
How much trouble did Schultz get in after slapping that reporter? I hope it’s Schultz I’m thinking of
I'm 165lbs roughly, so I'm nothing now?
