My great-nan Gladys Kirby passed at 7am today (16th February) aged 86. Even when she could barely breathe, she smiled at us, that will be my lasting memory of her, a truly remarkable person and i thank God that He has welcomed her to his kingdom where she can't be in pain anymore. i don't think in my opinion that the song is intended to be sad, but to show that god is love and mercy and even when you are in your darkest hour god is there if you just try to look and see his blessings for what they are.
This makes me think of a woman who lived down my street. She passed away recently after a battle with cancer. I think she was about 37 but she was still too young to die. Her husband is staying strong and the funeral is soon. I wish I could go but it's in school time. I don't know whether they prayed and she wasn't his mother but otherwise this song describes the situation. I prayed for them and, even now she's passed, I still pray. The way he loved her was so pure, he's shown me what true love-
