Should Joshua retire? Hearn and Davison have their say.

- The boys are the last to leave Wembley as they discuss how Daniel Dubois managed to put AJ on the canvas multiple times on his way to beating the two-time champ. AJ's trainer Ben Davison is on the pod, as is Eddie Hearn.
“He STILL could have won the fight…”? And didn’t give up..” Eddie Hearn
honestly its not like he is a newbie or rookie hes a seasoned pro… sometimes self righteousness is our biggest enemy. Take the rematch? Perhaps. Consider retirement? Id advise it tbh sooner than later not just cos he lost but the WAY he lost… he was so vulnerable id be concerned for his long term health - losing fights in this manner can be extremely dangerous taking so many concussive punches lets be honest he couldn’t take the punches. Punch resistance goes as you get older…
AJ had a few flurries but was down 3 or 4 times at least during the first 4 rounds plus he never recovered. It was a devastating loss and lets be fair he looked out of his depth in there… and he nearly got knocked out in 1 round. Demoralising…Not to mention the message this will now send to the rest of the division
I think he should now give serious consideration to his future
Keep them coming lads, great channel👍
Great video, loving rhe channel!
As far as I'm aware Duke McKenzie was the only person in the UK boxing media who predicted Usyk to beat Fury AND Dubois to win last night.
Really!? I bet on both they weren't crazy underdogs
Most pundits predicted usyk.
Most pundits predicted AJ.
Don’t know many that predicted both so fair play.
Please don’t lie about the fury prediction however
@@Rossyedmonds Most pundits in the UK media especially talksport did NOT predict Usyk.
@@Rossyedmonds who's lying and about what?
I dont understand why AJs corner were’nt telling him to keep his gloves up and move to the side…not backwards with his chin in the air.
They're all yes men. And AJ doesn't seem to be able to learn basic boxing fundamentals. He has boxed for 15 years yet when he's under pressure he always looks to his corner and looks he has no idea what he's doing. Bizzarre
@@Dylan-y6n He's so stiff and his stance is amateur. Getting your chin on your chest is day one of joining the gym.
It's common sense to keep your guard up Joshua panicks when he's put under pressure there's no fixing that he's had a great career hope he doesn't become a punching bag
@@Dylan-y6ntrue but being able to handle pressure isnt a boxing fundamental.. its a character and situational thing
Shouldn't need telling really
From the first knockdown AJ never kept his hands up as if he could take anything and he paid the price. Daniel was incredible.
We need the Fury fight. The rematch is undeserved and a bad idea. There's no longer time for a rebuild. I just don't get that hands down fighting style especially against a heavy puncher.
Stop it lol even joyce would beat this new aj fury vs aj is a complete mismatch fury would give aj masterclass boxing lesson aj has zero defence
Mate I was shouting at the tele all those rounds . Why didn’t he have those hands up
“He just came up short?” Ben Davison
Yes if it was a 12 round war! But no… He lost in devastating fashion and was completely dominated by Dubois and was saved by the bell in round 1
He keeps talking about taking responsibility for the loss- but Im surprised Davison wont shoulder the responsibility and face facts how he lost.
Davison never seems to look bothered whether AJ wins or loses.
@@dontbewoke pay day perhaps? Cant say the same for when he was in furys corner
How can he take responsibility, Ben doesn't teach what AJ was doing.
AJ switched off at the end of round 1, you could argue DDD had no right landing tht bomb from that range...AJ obviously felt DDD boxes with solid foundations and didn't in a million yrs think DDD was going to lunge in with that haymaker. But look, once that landed, AJ couldn't recover - it's that simple..recovery isn't just about standing back up, it's about having a clear head and still following the plan. AJ didn't have a clear head for 90 percent of that fight...
The way he ran over to AJ after the fight was hella zesty I can’t lie
100% agree. I think its on Aj he clearly has anxiety issues before the fight he asked fans to pray for his victory. On the night he looked scared in comparison to Daniel.
How many times have we heard rolling the dice 🎲 🤣😂😂😂
You know in the presser AJ said “If you give someone an inch they will take a mile”
Well, Daniel took his soul.
He exposed AJ.
AJ shouldn’t retire. He needs to keep his hands up and if he gets in trouble get out of there. Ali used to dance away until he recovered. It works. But Daniel was the main man tonight. Did everything right, WELL DONE DANIEL 💥🥊
@@TheGreatest1974 sure but hes not a novice learning the ropes and hes been down that road already. Its his fight or flight response that needs work, not his technique as his brain already knows what to do
The landlord paid his rent.
Daniel put the pressure on AJ from second 1 of ever my round AJ couldn’t handle it No diss to AJ but maybe he needed that chair after all lol
Please get your cameraman to work out how to focus lock.
Camera man been smokin that fresh air ?
9:25 Eddie desperate for AJ to continue to continue to feather his own nest....
Yeah great channel ❤
Well that should put the Ben Davison Boxercise training method experiment to bed.
You can’t side step, short circuit or cheat code your way around the hard graft with some kind of new AI assisted analysis and tactics planning regime.
As a famous heavyweight once said….
“Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth”
That was the worst loss of his career but it may make him think "Okay that wasn't so bad , I came through that (albeit I lost) so next time I'll throw caution to the wind knowing I can survive" HW boxing isn't comparable to any other sports , fear can play a huge role its your life on the line potentially. He's got to know that Fury can't punch like Dubois either so that ought to give him more mental freedom/confidence going in to that fight.
AJ needs Shane McGwigan in his corner, and Wilder in December
Thought the IBF doesn’t recognise rematches?
End of the day AJ brought heavyweight boxing back to the top for that we should all be thankful ! Well done DD good luck for the future, AJ put your own health before money and sit back and enjoy what you achieved.
😂😂😂😂😂😂 of course he did
Ben knows fury will school aj and I wouldn't be surprised if Ben don't train aj for a fury fight😂
The only honourable thing now is to retire. How do you fight a heavy puncher without defending yourself?
What are these coaches doing.nowadays? Aj getting hit with every shot dubois throws and not once does the coach say 'get ur hands up and move until you get your feet back' instead hes telling him to throw a big right hand. No common sense anymore?
Why is nobody speaking about ben davison jumping in the ring when the ref was giving the count that should of been instant disqualification so unprofessional
Instant disqualification? Davison knew fine well that AJ wasn’t getting up from that. t that point you jump in for your friend and see they are okay.
@@TheGreatest1974 in the first round im talking about
Once Usyk beats Fury again make the AJ v Fury fight then AJ should retire
Think George has had a few sherbets lol
Of course he should, DD just stopped
Usyk
Miller
Hergo
Joshua
Joshua was totally dominated and utterly destroyed.
No need for a rematch.
Time for Joshua to hang up his gloves before he gets hurt even mote
Fury v AJ could be billed "Battle for 3rd best HW in the world"
Or ‘2nd best of this era’.
@@TheGreatest1974 3rd best. Behind Usyk and Dubois.
That hair
I have zero interest in Fury vs AJ or Wilder vs AJ, all 3 are done and those fights should of happened several years ago!
Want to see Dubois vs Zhang, Usyk vs Parker after he knocks out Fury, lets see Bakole vs Dubois that would be awesome, Hrgovic vs Bakole, lets get Jalolov involved there are so many better fighters to see.
Dead animal sitting on top of groves head 😂😂 looks absolutely ridiculous
Who he was performing against wasn’t throwing anything in all respect he needs to get shut of Ben Davison first of all but fight Tyson fury think off another payday he needs to be saying after that performance he should retire
Fight Fury first. Get the last massive payday. Fuckin hell Eddie you claim to be his freind yet ya want that massive last payday 😒😒
Ben davidson is overhyped. He should have told AJ to keep his hands up and work the jab. Move your head from side to side. I cannot understand why Ben didn't ask AJ to approach this as a boxer rather than as a 'fight'. He should have boxed daniel not engage in the brawl.
AJ just couldn’t deal with the FEAR therefore the fundamentals went out the window no jab hands down ect…. He was well out of his depth and he knew it he was found out
Interesting comment , I didn't watch it live but I felt the same way about Fury before the Usyk fight; fear can break a fighter certainly.
@dontbewoke fury doesn't have that fear because he a crazy gypsy a proper fighter. AJ is scared of being hit
@@dontbewoke once fear takes over panic sets in and when panic sets in all skill if there is any goes out of the window and Dubois was switched on 100% he knew AJ wasn’t up for it he sensed it it’s human nature he smelled the fear
Your predictions are becoming "haye" like......
David Brent needs to take a serious look at himself and step into the armature ranks because he’s clueless at this level
I knew Daniel would KO Joshua, fighting Wallin and Ngannou, does not prepare you to fight someone that is beating legitimate opponents. I would like to see Joshua fight Big Baby Miller
I agree. Joshua has been done for years, been hyped up by fighting poor opponents. I knew dubois would walk him down and AJ would crumble
I wouldn't say I thought Dubois was going to demolish him but I totally agree that AJ's last fights were not signs of an amazing rebuild or cause for a bunch of sycophantic pubdits to make crazy statements like "this AJ beats Usyk". Even mentioning the Ngannou fight as an example of him improving is crazy. He fought an MMA guy with a record of 0-1 who had the perplexing ambition to try and fight southpaw in his second fight. Dubois deserves his win.... Took an inch.... Took a mile....took his soul!
Exactly. Or Joshua v Fury would be good if (when) Usyk beats him again.
Low left hand from the off; no authority on the jab; chin miles up in the air exiting straigh back from the pocket with his hands down... it was shockingly bad. I have no idea why in the everloving fuck no coach bar Derrick James has had him keep a tight guard and use his jab to actually hit people. This wafty long guard stuff is all very high-brow but it only works if you're light and agile enough on your feet to spring out of the way if someone comes over or around it, and springy and agile Joshua absolutely is not. His gloves need to be actively doing something constructive 100% of the time, and his chin needs to be on his fucking chest instinctively. He'd be better off tucking his chin, setting his feet and riding shots with the earmuffs on than he is trying to run away from them leaning back like he's the world's shittest limbo dancer. That left glove should either be feignting, jabbing the other guy like a battering ram or cellotaped to his left nostril. Instead its just hovering uselessly at nipple height. Bizarre. Why oh way they weren't bollocking him about that I have no idea. Literally the first thing I learned about throwing punches is that your glove sould be returning to your chin just as quickly as it went out. How can a 2 time world champion not know that? Does he/his team think he's above the basics?
Hype job finished. But would love to see it cemented 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
joshua is still the same amaturish boxer he was since turning pro; his easy match ups have flattered him. But each time he has faced adversity he has fell short. Against Dubois he was shocked, shcoked at Dubois power, movement, ability to slip punches, strength, chin, aggression. joshu ahsn't faced a real threat since losing to Usyk and this thing of having a load of easy fights after a lose does nothing, you learn nothing. joshua had four back to back easy wins and a lot of peopl ewere claiming he was the top fighter in the division.
sorry but a 37 year old ngannou that had a busted knee, a boxing record of 1 fight 1 lose, and apart from the fury fight hadn't had any combat sport for 2 years isn't how you prepare for Daniel Dubois. The 2 hard fights Dubois had gave him everything he needed to improve, those 2 fight are worth 20 easy wins.
Spot on ;
I think Fury would mince him too. Would be another humiliation.
Joyce would even beat this new aj
2 shot fighters , anything could happen but it wouldn't be pretty.
Still pumping the garbage for the cash cow AJ
What could do better is to let him go to a proper trainer
16:40 Come on GG how did you not ask him why he didn't instruct AJ to put his hands up? He was leaning back instead of defending himself , elementary stuff!!
