Jack, been watching your videos for a while and really enjoy them. I used to drive a flat-bed but then I got tired of being gone all the time and went to work for the post office. After 25 years there finally retired last year. Enjoying my retirement. We are trying to move from Texas to Grand Junction, CO. I just love the weather and big skies of the west. If you ever get to GC you'll have to give me a call and I'll put you up for a however long you want to stay. You would be welcome anytime.
Another great video Jack. I drove for McLean Trucking in the early 70's. When they went out of business I drove local for awhile. Not many days since then I don't miss it. Thanks for the ride.
I live and drive in Michigan. I have traveled to Washington State three times in the last 15 years. I always know when I'm back in Michigan from the roads. Thanks for the video.
I can see why you don't put out videos everyday like some other truckers. Quality over quantity. Lots of good edits, multi camera angles, and a ton of forethought. Good Job!!!
And I thought I'd watched every one of your videos, Jack. How on Earth did I miss this one? heh heh. Thanks for transporting me back to the "old days"!
Hi Indianajack I'm a former trucker and I sure do enjoy your video's they sure do bring back many very fond memory's of my travel's across this nation of our's THANKS for bringing back those memory's
G'Day Jack love your video's the song Table Top Trucker reminded me of my time running the highways state to state down here in Australia, it is great seeing how different yet how much the same trucking is from here and in the states. cheers mate
great video..........it`s complete different of trucking in the Netherlands. we drive on a piece that is 300km by 200km (187mi by 125mile)and stuffed with 17 milj. people. love to see more and keep on trucking..........
G'day Jack from Tasmania Australia you reckon your roads are bad should see ours, it can shake you false teeth out! Look great vids I subscribed because I love looking at your country, and the way you tell it. Regards John
1:55 Actually, it is nearly 6 years. I've been binge watching for a week, and along the way I've learned a lot about the trucking industry. The "romance of the open highway" is just a dream. Trucking is long, hard work and lonely work, for (what seems to be) very little money.
I call it laptop trucking... 25 years have passed since the last trip I made. Being a single father and being on the road would have never worked. I would be a liar if I said I did not miss it. Thanks for the wonderful videos
I think roads are in pretty good shape. My dad was a chauffer for a cattle baron back in the 20's and they traversed the west in a model T, where there were no roads - just cattle trails. So - you think the roads are falling apart? Try going where there are no roads.
Great videos Jack. I know how you felt on that icy patch.....been there, done that on I-44 going west through Missouri.....One of the worst days in my life. Be safe out there. Just getting back into trucking after a five year absence
That song say7s it all.My cousins and uncles all drove trucks and I had a truck delivery service for delivering building materials for fourteen years until my company I worked for got bought out.
Jack any chance of telling me about this biscuits and gravy ??. im from the uk so full breakfast is fried with black pudding. Hope you can help me out.
It's ridiculous what's passing for truckers these days. I work for CRST. I have had my CDL for 15 years operated for ten years but due to my lack of recent experience I had to take a job with CRST to get into the over the road business with little to no upfront out of pocket costs. (I had been unemployed for the last year working as an electrician for the previous two years years) They have a rinkydink drive school for two weeks. (I only had to take the one week refresher course which amounted to 2:15 behind the wheel) They are turning out incompetent drivers left and right. They are team only (expidited) and two out of the four student drivers did not know the truck height. (The other two didn't ask so I don't know if they actually knew or not) As soon as my 10 month contact is up I am out of this place and going solo. These guys walk out after two weeks with their CDL'S and they think they know everything about trucking and they don't know jack! I have to admit that the dispatchers for CRST are top notch and they are a great bunch to work for. Love your videos. Liked and subscribed!
Perhaps the trucker who didn't know the height of his rig -- maybe he just knew the metric measurement. You speak of him as if English was not his first language. In El Paso you might come across drivers who aren't familiar with English type measurements. You were kind to help him, in any case.
Back in 85, I rode a Grayhound from Charleston South Carolina to Midland Mi I think it took something like 27 hrs, but it felt like I was on that bus for a week, And man o man, the smelly people you find riding them, it was awful.
More bike riders means less cars wearing on the roads. Also reduces healthcare costs. Bike infrastructure is an investment with measurable returns. In 100 years we haven't been able to road-construction our way out of traffic congestion caused by roads being over capacity, due to more drivers showing up every year. 69% of car trips are 2 miles or less. Is that the best use of public roads?
Scary that we got people that are supposed to be trained professional truck drivers that don't know the basics. Shows you where the industry is in educating people. I find that companies are so concerned about putting all their trucks on the road and that finding quality individuals aren't a priority. Sad. And it seems those people always find their way up here to New York where there's nothing but low overpasses. Keep on educating the folks jack! Maybe things will get better! PeAce!
Hypothetical thinking: If the powers that be knew that the planet was scheduled for imminent catastrophe, how much emphasis would they put into building infrastructure rather than just patching things up? Same question for world monetary / financial system.
I think some art work is fine, but if the choice is between repairing a bridge or installing a new statue, the choice is obvious. Maybe if most people still took pride in everything they did, everything _would_ be a work of art. If you look at old tools, old buildings, etc, people took pride in everything they did, and putting your name on your product meant something. Today people tend to have a "Good enough for government work" attitude.
Great song. Truckers are the best folks. Thanks Jack your awsome.
I am not a trucker but I've always liked trucks and I enjoy watching your videos Jack so thank you very much!!!!!!

and to tell each trip as a story, well, it's longer than just 1 day, what would be the point of a daily video?
And I thought I'd watched every one of your videos, Jack. How on Earth did I miss this one? heh heh. Thanks for transporting me back to the "old days"!
Nice Job IJ!! I love the sing as we'll.

I'm one of those,ex-driver.Had a stroke and can't drive anymore,so I understand completely,and yes I miss it sometimes.Oh well..could be worse..
Elpaso is my home town!
I like the song also about my life also
Are your outside cameras waterproof? I'd imagine yes or it'd be a bit of a hassle to grab them every time you come upon bad weather.
Trucking companies need to start installing back-up camras on all trucks!
Jack any chance of telling me about this biscuits and gravy ??. im from the uk so full breakfast is fried with black pudding. Hope you can help me out.
Do you have any videos explaining the rules on how many hours you can drive each day.
good video jack thanks ehhhh
before the mandatory 30 min break came about, did you drive 10 hours without stopping?
When the driver asked you how tall is his truck. You should have pointed to the top of his trailer and said "Its that tall".
Awesome ty
Great video Jack Do you know if that song Table Top Trucking can be downloaded, if so were ?? thx again KEEP IT SAFE OUT THERE
You ever talk on your CB Indiana?
Do you used chains much in the winter?
At 21:00 USA has the tallest McDonald's signs ever in the whole world, agree? I'm sure that Australia has restrictions, at least in the city.

The driver not knowing the height of his truck shows how poorly trained some of today’s drivers are.
It would not surprise me that this is planned for keeping tech's busy, and wearing out trucks and trailers. Retired lift tech, 39 yrs.
