Geshela, I have listened you till the end. 1st, your Tibetan is way too good. 2nd, you explained your experiences brilliantly. Lastly, the solution like to think about others bigger problems. You didn’t choose the bad methods. Great. Thanks to the red respectful cloths that you wearing. The practice of Buddhism is the key to solve every single problem of our life and further. You are so lucky to have it. Now, in my opinion, it is how you make good use of it. You are so lucky to be a monk. Tashi Delek.
1. Thank you for sharing your personal experience which would help other people. 2. Your Tibetan spoken language is fantastic. I am really impressed with your Tibetan language. 3. I feel that you could be a great Tibetan language teacher and help people learn Tibetan through your past experience. 4. Your Tibetan language is of high standard and it is interesting to listen to your talk. 👍 5. Thank you for your talk. 🙏🏻
Priceless motivational speech. You have laid out the core causes and effects of depression and how to contain it with help of modern western therapy and Buddhist therapeutical methods. You are lucky and phenomenal. Your advice is so lucid and comprehensive and beneficial. Thank you
I listened to you twice and really liked because you looked exactly like my maternal uncle who passed away two years ago and felt like my Uncle is alive ....Thank you so much for your video.
Geshe la, you are so down to earth. I enjoyed your video immensely. You are sharing your story as a human being, not as a monk or having an attitude of being a monk. Thank you for your thoughtful video and it connected to me instantly.
I don’t mean it in negative way. With an attitude of being a same human being can bring lots of positive things. The message of love and compassion can reach or connect to wider audiences. Having an attitude of monk or not doesn’t change the fact of being a monk or a practitioner. Otherwise some time monks teaching can become out of touch. Thanks for your question. I have high respect and admiration to monk. They are part of sanga group and object of worship too.
@ so having monk attitude is not human attitude? Do parents need parent’s attitude to bring up their kids ? Or do they need either human or kids attitude for better upbringing?
Best UA-cam in Tibetan ever. Thank you for sharing one of the suttle and difficult subject that consumed my mother's almost whole life since her mid twenties.
I am a Dharma freak. I listen to soo many lamas' . Your advices are very logic and easy to relate in our daily life. Plz make next Dharma Advice in UA-cam. Best wishes. Sincerely Karma D from Switzerland
Geshe la, Thank you so much for sharing your personal experiences with depression and advices on how to deal with it. This is something we do not talk about openly as much in our Tibetan and Himalayan societies. I am sorry about your situation with your mother when you were a child. Looks like you were dealing with lot of pain there and it must have taken lot of courage and compassion on your part to make this video, so that it can help others in our community who may be suffering quietly. Your Buddhist perspectives on how to think about depression are very insightful, yet also agree that using Western medicine and psychotherapy when needed is the sensible thing to do. If I may add there are also simple practical ways to help deal with depression. Doing exercises and getting physical movement is very important. Walk, run, move. Then interacting with people. Loneliness is terrible for depression. I find mindfulness meditation also very helpful. Then diet: dark chocolate, eggs, blueberries, nuts, avoiding sugar and glucose spikes. You can search all these on UA-cam. Again, thugje che. 🙏
Thank you so much for your kind & encouraging words✨ and also for the additional suggestions to manage depression. I do agree and already follow some of your suggestions👌 If interested here is the link for Part 2 - ua-cam.com/video/tPy26zUKOdk/v-deo.htmlsi=4Nb1W4fGQjTj5aHk
Geshe-la, Tashi Delek! This is Thinley. You may not remember me, but I have vivid memories of you. I recall it was in the early 2000s when you came to Dharamsala for His Holiness the Dalai Lama's teachings, and I had the good fortune of sharing my room with you at the Institute of Buddhist Dialectics. I especially remember the wonderful conversations we had, particularly about Nepal and how peaceful it was back in the 1990s. It’s truly wonderful to reconnect with you after all this time!
Hello Thinley la, thank you for your kind response & nice to hear from you - I am sure if I saw you again I will remember the time we spent together in Dharamsala! Wishing you well in every aspect of your life now✨🙏😌
Michael Losang Yeshe la, thank you so much for sharing your personal deep down experience, going through real depresión even though it's invisible for others but it has been a painful experience for yourself. However you tried your best to heal with different means of therapy, without rejecting the different existing remedial methods. That's Great! Please you keep on appling the necesary healing therapy untill you are totally healed and gain recovery. I appreciate very much to listen to your sincer caring message, It touched me very much with your simple word of dharma and with your humble attitude.🙏🙏🙏
Dear old dharma friend Thupten Tsering la, thank you so much for your kind & consoling words✨🙏 I am happy this video has reached you & we have connection again after long time✨🤗
Lama la,Your heartfelt sharing about your journey through depression and how you overcame it through the teachings of Dharma and modern therapy is truly inspiring. Your ability to approach life’s challenges with compassion and the foundation of Dharma offers so much wisdom and strength. Thank you for sharing such a profound experience🙏🏼💐💐
I overall , I believe that your mother did great job that she put u on the right path even though you were very young and been through those hard times. Because we can see the results, You are a very fortunate person compared to other millions . Thank you so much for sharing your experiences geshi la
Geshe la sorry to hear ur bad experience with life in abroad. But I am so proud that u yourself has overpowered your mental status and did great in making this wonderful video. Stay safe and give more love to your mom and be practical and shine ur life with lots of positive thoughts . Best wishes from sera.
Oh gen Michael la, tashi delek! I saw you in sera. I was a monk in serje tsangpa khangtsen and lived in house 32. Tsawa khangtsen house is next to us. Thank you for sharing us your inner experiential journey.
Genla, thank you for making this video. Please keep making videos and talk about your feelings. It will help others as well as yourself. It will be healing process. Also may i suggest that you practice alternate nostril breathing (Nadi Shodhana). It is simple to do when one does not feel up to doing anything else or even getting out of bed. I think that when one suppresses many natural feelings and emotions, then it leads to pent up feelings that translates into anger and aggression unless you're able to transmute that energy spiritually. Thank you for taking care of your mother and yourself. It is not easy. Just allow your negative thoughts, feel it and release it. It is only natural that you feel anger towards your mother. But she did what she thought was best for you and maybe for herself at that time. Keep breathing good life force energy and keep make youtube videos.🙏
Wow genla. So good. Thank you so much for sharing your journey. It’s ok fighting with amala sometimes. But deep inside our respect, love caring to parents is so important as you mentioned. I also gone through lot with similar situations. Somehow I studied mind training. Lojong. That help me lot and now I am doing much better.
That’s very important to our community geshe lak 🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏thank you so much it’s very greatfull and kindness to us genla very very thank you once again God bless your Amala my huge hug to her geshey lak🙏🙏🙏
Geshe la, so good to listen to your advice- I have heard about your experience on depression and today got to listen to the path you follow to overcome. Wish you and Amala health n happiness . We miss your presence here in Australia!
Gen Michael Yeshe la, thank you for sharing; this is truly insightful and deeply appreciated. I feel profoundly grateful to your mother because, without her pivotal decision, you would not be where you are today. It is entirely natural to experience feelings of anger toward her, especially considering that she left you at such a tender age. However, it is equally admirable how you are embodying and applying the principles of Buddhist teachings in your daily life. Your commitment to practicing these teachings is evident, reflecting a deep sense of resilience, mindfulness, and compassion. Your amala is, without a doubt, your primary teacher, and her role continues to evolve as she now serves as your profound teacher of tolerance and forgiveness. Through her actions and the challenges she has presented, she offers you invaluable lessons in understanding, acceptance, and the transformative power of compassion and wisdom. Being a Tibetan raised in a Buddhist family and studied abroad, we rejoice in your kindness and your heartfelt attempt to practice Tonglen. Your effort to embrace and transform pain into compassion is both inspiring and profoundly meaningful. May your practice purify all obstacles, bring healing and peace to yourself and those you hold in your heart. 🙏🙏🙏 Jay su yirang mangpo yoe
Dear Dweller, I am incredibly grateful for your kind words of encouragement and support✨ It’s not been an easy journey, but indeed as you rightly point out, I need to regard my mother as a profound teacher, as well as an object of forgiveness and compassion at the same time. It’s not an easy task but this is my one in a lifetime opportunity to make a genuine effort to put the teachings into practice and repay the kindness of my mother of this life. I feel that if I can manage to practice patience with my mother, then I have a great chance to be able to practice patience with others as well. Thank you again for taking the time to respond to my message with genuine concern & support for both myself and my amala’s wellbeing. ✨🙏😌
I am incredibly impressed not only with your deep knowledge of the dharma but how clearly you are able to express it in English. It would be very interesting to know a bit more of your background, if you feel comfortable to share✨🙏
Tashi Deleg Geshe la, Khamsang, Thank you so much for your excellent motivational speech & advises how to eliminate 21st century core problems/ issue about deadly disease like DEPRESSION in today's world. Highly appreciated 👏 you are a Great Lama , a pure mixture of Western/ Tibetan philosopher, Thank you so much 🙏 🎉😊
Tashi Delek Lama la! I am so glad to see you as monk and speaking Tibetan very well. So what I want to request is teaching in English and even more people can understand and it would be big helping to westerners or foreigners. Teaching about same as this one and other about Buddhist philosophy 🙏🙏☕️🙏🌻
Genla, thanks to Google algorithm, I came across your video. Although personally I've been so fortunate in my life and have never experienced true hardships, I do understand that in greater society, there are many who are suffering daily under various circumstances. The fact that you decided to make this video for the benefit of others shows your compassionate heart or shall I say altruistic intention. I hope this video reaches wider audiences and help others, at least in changing their perspective on things and broaden their approach. Your story about your mother is one that touched me because it's so human. The fact that you feel the way you do and committed to working towards healing shows your spiritual growth. What a pleasure it was watching your video. Lastly, I don't see why this should be your last video but I'll leave it up to your best judgment. Thank you and take care.
Thank you! I am incredibly grateful for your kind words of encouragement and support✨ It’s not been an easy journey, but indeed I need to regard my mother as a kind teacher, as well as an object of forgiveness and compassion at the same time. I didn’t even know you’re not a Tibetan until you said it.Wow. ,Your command on Tibetan is a lot better than most Tibetans. Your advices are so practical and pragmatic. Thanks for sharing your experiences to us all.🙏🙏🌹🌹🙏🙏
Thank you so much kushok la ,for your kind message your 🙏 diffinately help others .wish you good luck & wish your mother recover soon I am sure you will forgive your mothers past mistakes , forgive is greatest give that I learn from our Bhuddist teaching 🙏🙏🙏
Tashi Delek Gen Lobsang Yeshe la, sorry for the difficult moment gone through, And glad that u manage to deal with situation. it’s really great experience shared, and plz make more videos in future, it’s will helps to many people now and future.
Kusho la, thank you for sharing your experience. It will benefit many of us. Regarding your feelings towards your mother, I can understand. But think it this way. If your mother had not left you in Nepal ,you would never have met with Dharma. This thought alone should help you to forgive her and, with compassion, make her last days comfortable. This will earn you good karma and your practice of compassion. I wish you all the best. Humanity needs great teachers like you .
Kusho la, thank you. Your story is very interesting and your advice for such problem is very useful and thank you. Your Tibetan is better than many of us. ང་ཡང་གཏོང་ལེན་བྱེད་ཀྱི་ཡོད་
geshe la michalel la i suffer most life with anxiety, depression, tibetan buddhism helped me lots still i have issue seems like life long contract sing with it😊 thank you for sharing your experience very helpful 🙏🙏🙏
🙏🏼Genla you made the main essential points in dealing such health problem by combining the ancient science and the modern psychotherapy.Hope this will give a sound foundation towards sustainable health for many modern youths. Physical Sports like daily jogging for 6-12 months also bring balance between Yin & Yang energy🙏🏼but one needs a strong discipline and braveness which is the core game changer in such "chronic Soft Ware Defect". Update your soft ware and delete the old soft ware which I used to tell people since ages🙏🏼🛐📿
