not so much how many wins he gets although that will be a requirement of course, for me it will be what difference we see in how the bears operate under Brown to see if things improve enough to give the guy a good chance in landing the role permanently. Brown or no, the front office have to get the next appointment correct and back him.

@guygerard79 there is a chance Greenbay will be guaranteed a playoff spot and might not be playing for anything and rest their starters. That could end up being a lame duck game. Hopefully, that doesn't end up being the case. Ideally would be 5-0. If he loses one of these games, you have to consider other options.

@michaelmanwiller1869 logically, but then you could say how much HEAD coaching experience does Ben Johnson or any of these former coordinators have? Everyone starts on someone else's coaching tree or in a situation where they thrive and are interviewed for a promotion. I personally don't care have any real interest in most of any of the candidates unless it's Kyle Shanahan, and the idiots owe it to the city post not seriously pursuing Harabaugh twice now. Its time for a genuine culture change with an actual winner in the locker room. *Ben Johnson is too run heavy with Detroit this yr for my taste which is why Amon Ra and LaPorta's numbers are way down. I'm not sold on em, personally

    • @YT-Holdings
      @YT-Holdings 3 години тому

@carterbrock - Here are some reasons to believe that Ben Johnson is not the best choice for the Bears.
      1. Ben Johnson very possibly doesn't want to be a HC for the Bears. The Bears need to choose a coach that wants to be the HC of the Bears.
      2. Ben Johnson's offense only put up 16 points against the Bears. The refs gave the Lions another TD by the gift of the horsecollar penalty that was a legal tackle. The Lions have been scoring 37 points at home before playing the Bears.
      3. Ben Johnson is a dome OC. His offense scores 6 more points in a dome vs. outside. The Lions have scored 101 TD's at Home and in Minnesota vs. 59 TD's Away/Not Including Minnesota, over the last 3 seasons since Ben Johnson was OC.
      4. Last season, the Lions only scored 13 points when playing at Soldier Field. The season before, Alan Williams was calling plays and the Bears had the worst defense in the NFL for 21 games until Matt Eberflus started calling plays after 4 games in 2023.
      5. Is he a coach that Caleb Williams will respect and relate to? What if he came over to the Bears and their offense was initially struggling? How quick would it take for him to lose the team's confidence? It didn't take long with Shane Waldron or Matt Eberflus.
If Thomas Brown does well these last 5 weeks and Caleb Williams wants him as his HC, then he should be the head coach in 2025. Thomas Brown already knows the players and how to utilize them. Why go out and take a chance on Ben Johnson?
If the Bears decide to hire a coach other than Thomas Brown, I think Liam Coen or Joe Brady are the best candidates. Joe Brady calls games in freezing cold temperatures every season and in the playoffs. He is better suited to call games in Chicago than Ben Johnson.

These 3 names don’t make me feel better. Ben Johnson isn’t leaving the Lions for the Bears. Thomas Brown is a risky head coaching hire and can potentially be Antonio Pierce all over again. Just because the players wanna fight for him, doesn’t make him a qualified head coach who can win games every week. And Kliff Kingsbury’s offense has been repeatedly exposed between Washington and when he was in Arizona. His gimmicky scheme starts off hot, then cools off as the season goes. Kingsbury’s Cardinals teams were never that serious.
I’m just hoping these first couple of coaching names are just bluffs and aren’t serious contenders. Bears need an experienced, veteran coach who can control the whole locker room and get the team focused. An experienced coach who doesn’t pee down his leg late in the 4th quarter and choke.

I think the best football mind out there has to be Bill B. Until he started doing interviews I think lots of people were thinking Brady is the only reason he has had any success, but if you listen to him and people that were coached by him, you can tell, he is the reason that team was successful even in the down years….. I think he would be the best football mind we have had in my life time….

Ben Johnson is the hot choice on the head coaching market but he needs to have a plan for a solid coaching staff. The Lions won't just let him take his pick of there assistant coaches. Be interesting to find out who Johnson wants as his DC.

Only way I'd hire Bill B, is if he bring McDaniels with him as OC. IF NOT, I'd hire Ben Johnson, let him choose his ownDC, and OC. The problem is, we wouldn't be in this position if we would have fired everyone last year... the cycle continues. Fuck it fire everyone at the end of the year, start completely new.
Pres, GM, all coaches. If you can't hire above names mentioned, there is Gruden, Riley, Vrabel, Kingsbury, they all have Head coaching resumes.

He has to be 3-2 IF he were to be considered, but the record is 2nd most important. It’s how they play and how Caleb progresses. IF he takes off and they they look good losing then that’s a different story

Geezus these are the 3 weakest possible HCs. The guy from Carolina (say no more). a guy who has never been a hc and one that the media is braying about (caution) and then KK. These are the three best options? Hell i'd take Flus! Come on guys we need a proven HC not someone learning on the job. PLEASE not any of these lightweights!

I don't think Brown needs to prove anything to be a candidate. He pushed Detroit to the brink. Detroit is elite - a Super Bowl favorite. Maybe the favorite. That convinced me. I expect the Bears will continue to improve under Brown. Wins/losses is not what you look at. I do expect at least two more wins. Or more. But Brown could be a diamond in the rough. I would watch him closely - how he manages the game. He's young. If he can keep the team rising on a positive progression - the wins are going to come. This year and next. A home grown HC with potential to be a long term franchise HC is way better than just hiring the latest mercenary guy for a couple season.

All you people like to take a guess. If you're wrong, then you're screwed. By the time the Bears find the right coach, Caleb Williams's good career is already over or half over. Best to choose a head coach who already has a proven track record in a pro level. Good offensive coordinator or good defensive coordinator don't translate into a good head coach. It's a totally different job.

I like Thomas brown but if Ben Johnson considered to be top of the league in offensive scheme and play calling. Then you have to get him for Caleb. I hope the bears are not cheap. Go for Shanahan and reunite him with salah as defensive coordinator that would be nice to lol even though I don’t believe the Niners will let him go.
