The bollocks is one of the greatest original rock n roll albums ever. It will stand the test of time for the next 100 years.

I'm not belittling the role Malcom played pulling the Pistols together. I take issue with what he did with them after that. He intentionally booked them in tiny places that would hate them, he pitted them against each other to keep control of them, he orchestrated scraps and put them in positions to get attacked on the street, all in the name of his "vision." THAT was how he wanted to make these kids superstars. It worked, and it also tore the band apart.

When Matlock was kicked out that fuct it. Sid had the "look" but was shite. Sad. But that one album was an absolute ball tearer and still is timeless.

McClaren was like a mad scientist playing around with ingredients in his lab. But when the concoction he mixed exploded in his face and set the lab on fire he didnt have a clue how to cope with it. not sure that makes him a genius but he certainly played his part. a wonderfuly happy accident that we hadnt seen before and will never see again. all those that contributed deserve respect and their place in history.

John was a school drop out, but a life-long reader who was always writing. He got the Pistols job because he had a certain look and a certain attitude but no one could have predicted he would be an intelligent, talented lyricist as well. Or that he would take his frontman job as seriously as he did.
The Pistols had an accidental chemistry shouldn't have been wasted in bar scraps. McLauren was an idiot.

Alot of people don`t like John. Why is because he`s dead honest. People sugar coat things to keep from hurting anothers feelings, but not Johnny Rotten.
Had he not been the sex pistols lead singer, and written the lyrics he did, the sex pistols would have never been as big as they became. He tries to make out like he don`t care about the guys in the band, but he does. They are a magical team. I`ll never forget the first time I heard "Holiday in the sun" It kicked my ass and I loved it.

Whenever I'm in the studio the main thing I always strive for is to get the drums and guitars as tight as possibe, and haters can say what they want about the pistols, but god damm it just listen to the anarchy recording!

The reason he was sacked or left was because he didn't fit in with the rest of the group. But Sid coming in made things worse.

Sid couldn't play much, Bodies and a bit of Anarchy in the UK but nothing other than that.
Watch them play in the Longhorn Ballroom, specifically during Bodies, Sid plugs his amp in, Steve promptly unplugs it.

Although I do like John Lydon, He is so ignorant sometimes to say "If we went in with some heavy metal noise merchant" it would have been a disaster is ridiculous, He knew absolutely nothing about music & production at the time! Tom Allom who produced Judas Priest's British Steel album would have done a fantastic job with "Never Mind The Bollocks"

Actually, Sid did a pretty good job. He learned to play the bass and did it quite well. Then he met Nancy and THEN it went down hill.
I'm not blaming Nancy, but she and Sid were a star-crossed couple.

I'm quoting real life witnesses. Like I said, Kris Needs, Keith Levine, Paul Cook, John Lydon etc. People who knew Sid. I wanna defend the guy since he either gets "too fast to live
too young to die " saint glory over himself or "talentless hack poser shit". The truth, like so many things, can be found somewhere in the middle, but people seem to lean to the extremes.

It's good the pistols broke up! why? because that one album was kick ass not too many punk bands can match their rough edge and agression and if they made another album it ruin it for me!! they made one of the greatest albums besides London calling Modern Lovers and Velvet Underground and Nico and Stooges!

McLauren? Who's he? The 5th Sex Pistol? Malcom McLaren was an extremely flawed, often self-seeking man. He also had the kind of vision that you can't buy in the music industry - they're all chasing it. The alternative, my dear, is Simon Cowell. He also had the good taste to choose John Lydon to front the band. The rest is history. But you wouldn't have heard about any of it without Malcom. Do your homework.

Boy, Matlock does seem like a fairly bland individual, doesn't he?
No wonder Lydon claims, in typically exaggerated fashion, to 'hate' him.
He did come up with one of the all-time great rock and roll riffs, though!

  • @theyakkoman
    @theyakkoman 15 років тому

Well, at least I know he tried hard. Both Keith Levine and Kris Needs remember a night were Sid would sit with his bass the whole night threw and play along to the Ramones album, in that way learning to play the bass.
I think Lydon summed Sid up the best. "Sid was a very good friend of mine and I miss him dearly, but he was a twat. He bought the whole "sex, drugs and rock n' roll myth".
    He was a tragic character.

@Triplesod No, im the type of person who doesnt like a band because everyone else likes them. I dont like the Beatles because I dont think they are talented.
O, and by the way, i follow bands for music.
Dont write back, because I dont care what you have to say.
