I’ll never know how Freddie’s voice can be so powerful yet so gentle at the same time. You can tell he puts all of himself into his performances and yet he still looks so carefree and easy. RIP Freddie. You are a legend, and you will be loved and revered until the end of time.

@@andyisdead Not in the slightest. I've found that whenever I'm best friends with a S/O first, it opens up a whole level of communication than what you would get from just meeting someone at a party. There's a fundamental knowledge of each other as you hit a wavelength taking you in a new and beautiful direction. You can be best friends and in love all at once, and it's actually how I prefer to fall in love.

She was saying thank you to him for being her friend. To this day, it remains the purest show of love I've ever seen in my entire life, and perfectly sums-up the relationship they had. If I could, I would love to personally thank Queen, and in particular John Deacon for recording this song. It still lifts me when I'm down, and reminds me of the most wonderful Mom I could have wished for.

This is actually the anti-friendzone song. And imo, maybe the sweetest love song ever. John Deacon wrote it for his wife, and learned to play the piano just to make this song (Freddie refused to play the electric piano). John is still married to her, and they had 6 children.

I remember in an interview, Freddie preferred the sound of the grand piano over the Wurlitzer electric keyboard. So he wouldn't play it and John Deacon had to play the keyboards for that song. Same with One Vision, Brian May had to play the keyboards for the intro.
One of the many things I love about Queen is that they were all songwriters. Freddie was disgust of electric piano, which he would later explain a mediocre cheap-looking (and like stuff) one against grand piano. So Deaky took it home and tried it, leading to creation of this song. While Freddie acknowledged the song's greatness, (Their recording session had never been peaceful. Oh this one is his too? Aww he love to write about friendship. Sweet guy. He should still be writing even if he's not active in the band. I mean Queen got their US no. 1 thanks to him.
Reminds me of how fortunate I’ve been to have had so many fantastic, loyal friends throughout my life! Through thick and thin they are always there! Love you!
Honestly my favorite Queen song. It's just pure and joyful and so spirited. You can just hear the love Deacon has for his wife. It's so simple too, which emboldens it for me. It's true love in the form of music.
This is a masterpiece of melody and composition by John. The bass line is smooth and melodious, and I think this is one of the most beautiful Queen songs. A must learn for any bassist.
take a moment to appreciate Deaky's greatness... easily the most underrated member, he was as talented as the others, if not more... think I love you John!
I love that John wrote this song for his wife till this day Veronica. And how Freddie refused to play the electric piano so John learned how to play just for this song.
Only 45 years old. What a shame we lost an inspirational man in 1991. I wasn't even born yet. I wish I was though. RIP To the King of Queen, Freddie Mercury.
Happy Birthday to the only dancing bassist on earth. There will never be another. The bass and drums sound good together. Any other bass player just stands there. Queen has style, strangeness which attracts me and vibrant things. LHM..cy
Every time we go on a family road trip, my father plays his classic rock, and he got it engraved into my brain, I cannot stop listening to queen, and this has to be one of my favorites
My all time favorite band. This was the first song played at me and my wife's wedding. 17 years, three kids, a couple of health scares later, she's still my best friend. Thank you Queen!
Just finished watching this video in a hospital room with my mom. It's been two days since her surgery. She's been on a Queen bringe. Looking at her singing along brought tears into my eyes. I'm thankful to still have her in my life and this song will always remind of this moment. Thank you Freddie , Brain, John and Roger!
Perhaps he was a great loss, but the memories and songs they gave us will live on forever and we will always have them. None of us knows how long we are in this life. I am grateful for such wonderful music.
I know John wrote this for his wife but I can't help but feel when Queen play this song together and they are looking at each other, they're also telling each other "you're my best friend"..
He wrote it for his wife. he also shared it with his good friend John Paul Jones of Zeppelin for his wife. both men are married a long time to their wives, and that speaks for itself
I have never loved a band before like I love Queen, and I highly doubt I ever will. Those guys were so good together, totally in sync. Noone can ever replace Freddie Mercury, and that is so sad, because he was such a big part of the band. I love them all, though.
This is a song i would play at my wedding and my funeral. It feels like the purest display of love one can pull off. Rest in peace Freddie Mercury and thanks to John for writing this masterpiece.
I dedicated this song to my unborn son, i'm 36 weeks pregnant and i've listened to this song every day ever since i found out i was pregnant, it always makes me want to cry
This song just about says it all for me. I'm 51 years old. This song came out when I was a kid. It reminds me of my teenage years. Those days are gone and can never be recovered. This song reminds me of this time. I remember when this song came out, I thought that nothing ever sounded so good. Thanks Queen.

John Deacon wrote this song about his wife. This song features a Fender Rhodes electric piano, which was a popular choice at the time, with many rock songs by the likes of Stevie Wonder and Steely Dan using the instrument. John Deacon wanted to write a song incorporating the instrument, but Freddie Mercury did not want to play it. "I refused to play that damn thing," Mercury said. "It's tiny and horrible and I don't like them. Why play those when you have a lovely superb piano." So Deacon took the Rhodes home, learned to play it, and started writing this song.
@@tedstranix7703 Actually, Brian has played a banjo-ukulele in few songs like Good Company and Bring Back That Leroy Brown(maybe even more, can't remember at the moment...)
Why are there so many stories of John learning new instruments in a short period of time. For the making of '39, Brian, jokingly, asked John to play the double bass, and John actually took it to the studio and started learning it.

John Deacon didn't contribute too many songs, but they were hits when he did. Quality over quantity.
Can't agree more
my dear john i love all the song that he wrote .. i want to break free , another one bite the dust
Oh this one is his too? Aww he love to write about friendship. Sweet guy. He should still be writing even if he's not active in the band. I mean Queen got their US no. 1 thanks to him.
David Reynolds totally agree... he was the “George Harrison” of Queen
Agree 100% !

nobody is talking about how deaky iS ON THE PIANO, SINGING AND PLAYING
THAT IS THE CUTEST THING EVER
What makes this song so emotional CottonCandyKitties.
He plays so many instruments, a lot of casual fans dont realize how talented they all are not just freddie
Actually for this song, Freddie played the eletric piano.
@@kyrios0307 Freddie refused to play the electric piano, saying he hated it.
@@jajaleco Freddie's refusal forced Deacon to learn the part himself.
Easily the most underrated Queen song. Spectacular!
take a moment to appreciate Deaky's greatness... easily the most underrated member, he was as talented as the others, if not more... think I love you John!
Samuele De Santis He wrote some of Queen’s best songs. He was truly their secret weapon 👍
I love that John wrote this song for his wife till this day Veronica. And how Freddie refused to play the electric piano so John learned how to play just for this song.
Didn't know that. Thanks. More reason that John D is/was a beast!!!
Why did Freddie refuse to play the piano?
Why dod freddie refuse?

Carlos Soto That’s a touching comment. Hope your mum and you are okay.
After nearly 33 years, nobody could replace Freddie Mercury and become such an outstandig frontman like him! A great loss in music history!
Perhaps he was a great loss, but the memories and songs they gave us will live on forever and we will always have them. None of us knows how long we are in this life. I am grateful for such wonderful music.
Next year, John and his wife Veronica will be celebrating their 50th anniversary. ❤
Yes and this is wonderful ❤
Seeing John Play the elec. Piano, and seeing Him singing a Song for his wife , is just the cutest thing ever!!
Their lyrics were truly made from love and passion, not for the money.

Still here in April2024. You can tell John loved his wife very much. This song says it all.
I know John wrote this for his wife but I can't help but feel when Queen play this song together and they are looking at each other, they're also telling each other "you're my best friend"..
I doubt that very much. LOL

I like how Freddie wrote songs about wanting love and John was like "look what i wrote for *MY WIFE* "
I have never loved a band before like I love Queen, and I highly doubt I ever will. Those guys were so good together, totally in sync. Noone can ever replace Freddie Mercury, and that is so sad, because he was such a big part of the band. I love them all, though.
Me either!
The way he sounds so gentle here 😩🤍
"Ohh, you make live!"
*One of the best Queen songs.*
on a serious note though, this song is super sweet! the fact that john wrote it for his wife warms my heart
This is a song i would play at my wedding and my funeral. It feels like the purest display of love one can pull off. Rest in peace Freddie Mercury and thanks to John for writing this masterpiece.
This is really one of the sweetest love songs ever.

Ooh, you make me live
Whatever this world can give to me
It's you you're all I see
Ooh, you make me live now, honey
Ooh, you make me live
Oh, you're the best friend that I ever had
I've been with you such a long time
You're my sunshine and I want you to know
That my feelings are true
I really love you
Oh, you're my best friend
Ooh, you make me live
Ooh, I've been wandering 'round
Still come back to you (still come back to you)
In rain or shine, you've stood by me girl
I'm happy at home (happy at home)
You're my best friend
Ooh, you make me live
Whenever this world is cruel to me
I got you to help me forgive
Ooh, you make me live now, honey
Ooh, you make me live
Oh, you're the first one when things turn out bad
You know I'll never be lonely
You're my only one
And I love the things
I really love the things that you do
Oh, you're my best friend, oh
Ooh, you make me live, live, live, live
I'm happy, happy at home
You're my best friend
Oh
Oh, you're my best friend
Ooh, you make me live

John Deacon wrote this song about his wife.
This song features a Fender Rhodes electric piano, which was a popular choice at the time, with many rock songs by the likes of Stevie Wonder and Steely Dan using the instrument. John Deacon wanted to write a song incorporating the instrument, but Freddie Mercury did not want to play it. "I refused to play that damn thing," Mercury said. "It's tiny and horrible and I don't like them. Why play those when you have a lovely superb piano." So Deacon took the Rhodes home, learned to play it, and started writing this song.
You can't blame Freddie at all --- it would be like forcing Brian to play a ukulele instead of guitar
@@toptop961 He was just that kind of person, I guess..
