Banda is a beast !!! They cannot stop this powerhouse
Allyssa Thompson may be the reason why LA is performing so poorly, she tries to scores all by herself even that she does not an angle or chance
she is ONE of the reasons, because obviously a winger that you start every game being completely unable to score is a reason behind a team struggling to score. but they also have massive issues all across the pitch that thompson has nothing to do with. i.e. not her fault sarah gorden turned from prime becky sauerbrunn to this--constantly losing the ball, often not doing a great job at defending, and so forth. not her fault the other CB, reid, isn't that good. not her fault the midfield--what i think the biggest root of angel city's problems are--is made up of completely subpar players. when the season began i thought rocky rodriguez was great; now all she does is make stupid fowls because instead of winning the ball she just sticks her leg out. it's incredibly easy for players to get past her and she does very little when she gets the ball. then angel city keeps on switching their #8 because they can't settle on their "best" because none of them are good. hammond, nabet, etc.--none are quality enough to be an NWSL starter on a team that wants to perform. then you get to the #10, which is a massive problem because the attacking mid is the creator and is responsible for generating a lot of attacks. angel city does not have a 10 that does that. i really love fuller but she is a 17 year old in her first year in professional sports or even just adult sports. one day she will be really good, but she is not yet ready. she's playing so much because there's just...no one better. le bihan, too, is nothing incredible. annoying to say it but they are missing mccaskill. then you get to the front line, and yeah. alyssa, underperforming. emslie, strong start to the season, has disappeared since. i don't think leroux is the problem but she's clearly not solving the problem either.
the point is: the club has put together a team of players destined for the bottom of the table. it's not that them making the playoff spots is impossible, but something magical would have to happen, because this group of players as a whole is just not good enough. very different situation from the wave, for example, who were underperforming when you look at the players they have. that's not angel city. they're just bad. alyssa is just one small piece of the puzzle.
Some awesome players in this league, the likes of Oshoala, Rodman, Lavelle, Smith, Chawinga, etc., but Banda is in a league of her own.

Oh man, so many unforced errors from Angel City. What was Sarah Gorden thinking with that last goal? The last line of defence doesn't seem to see where the opponents are.
My favorite non-goal was the follow through header attempt after the crossbar. Always keep running.

Honestly, it felt like Orlando was just toying with ACFC all night. They honestly could've had 6 more goals with how they were playing.
ACFC right now just looks completely disjointed.
Offensively it's dry like the drought in LA. Defensively it crashes at times, and the midfield, oh boy.........
