- So Homelander has finally launched for Mortal Kombat 1 and the boy is a Zoners Zoner. Lasers out the wazoo at every possible angle, and some very interesting gameplay traits besides that too, so lets dig into it!

So Homelander is out! As you expect in this kinda vid we will take all about him and showcase some of his cooler things. There's one definite bug, and one maybe bug in this video so we will see how that gets addressed. Did they really let Cyrax back into the game to rule us all again like a vengeful god? Maximilian Dood even did more tech with him and found out he doesn't even need to be a zoner to be top tier
Im genuinely so glad he's a zoner, partly because omni man is already the bully spaceman, but because being a lazy cheater is absolutely Homelanders character
He's lazy ASF but if you learn the finger gymnastics his rush down and pressure is crazy imo stay away and zone but if you get them in the corner and you know what to do it's pretty much ggs for the other player.

Yep, this is beyond the type of zoning I thought, that sweep is NOT okay, lmao! Also I just realized, but the fact Homelander has a counter that only works on punches while Zangief has a counter that only works on kicks is truly a marvel in terms of how specific niche moves like this can exist in plenty of games!

They have been making this character in every one of their games and it’s always played and always hated. Can they get any more unoriginal?
I suspect Homelander's fly cancel will also allow him to turn combos into resets if he delays his attacks slighty. So if you wanna be cheeky, rather than fly cancelling into a guaranteed combo you go for the reset instead when your opponent expects you to continue the combo (which means they might not be blocking or ready for a mix) and perhaps you can get some juicy extra damage that way.
After playing SF it has made me realize that projectiles not clashing really sucks lol
Haha nice. Since zoning in this game isnt really that bad Im happy to see another zoner. We havent had a pure control flight mode character who can shoot projectiles in mid air since Hawkgirl in the first Injustice. Max is going to lose his sh$t when he plays a homelander 😅

The worst part is that his close up game is not that bad once you start using flight and that t-pose stance of his so he’s really covered in most areas

@@nabilahmed579 Yeah.Though I'll admit I was a bit surprised how hard his execution is with his combos very weird and different. Max's stream last night he was breaking it down and every other channel besides roofmonger of course who goes into vivid detail was also saying he's a tough character to combo with yet the payout isn't high.
Haven't get a clipper yet but this looks interesting, his grab out of his dashing move can get launched with Janet. And it tick throws on block.

I haven't tested myself, but according to Honeybee, Reptile damage was nerfed and added more scaling to Force Ball

I didn't discover the speed bug, found that one on twitter. As far as the movement but I did stumble on that but im sure many people have as well lol.

So one thing I'm seeing in MK1 that I'm liking is that if you missed some of the stuff that was previously purchasable, you can now purchase again. Hopefully the DLC characters get some special stuff.

Just got back into the game and played a match against a johnny cage where he got me in the corner then infinitely used cagenado (4,4) which is plus 24 how am i supposed to stop that if there is no way for me to recover before he can start the attack again

i really hope the cyrax change doesn't get undone, there's so many other cheap assists in the game now that i don't think it's as broken and it was a fun assist that helped a lot of weak characters
Nrs is notorious for not putting everything in the patch notes and the cyrax copter still takes FOREVER to reacharge so im sure its intentional

As someone who plays zoners in every fighting game I play, I always thought zoning in MK was cheesy/scrubby. The gameplay is too slow and clunky for zoning. Always seems like spamming.

You didnt mention that when back 3 counters it gets massive plus frames even enough to jump in combo. However I dont think his zoning is spammable, too much recovery imo time will tell though.

not really, they are basically all instant travel which is the best kind of projectile

Another BUG??? When I made my second comment in response to the ‘Cyrax bug’, I felt a bit bad about having a ‘knee-jerk’ reaction but now that is totally justified.
Seriously, how does NRS manage to ship two major bugs in one patch, almost nine months after the game has released??? Honestly, the incompetence of NRS is more impressive than comical at this stage. I have no words.
So let us recap:
1. Cyrax kameo is bugged and is overpowered as a result
2. Homelander’s ‘God Complex’ move allows him to have insane walk speed after recovering from the move for FREE, despite him having a far slower ‘normal’ walk speed
I am starting to think NRS does not understand nor know how to use Unreal Engine 4. If their codebase was solid, they would not have anywhere near as much trouble with MK1 as they actually did. I can smell a lot of shitty code just by the presence of the comical amount of bugs with each patch that this game has had.
I am all for defending MK1 and praising it when it does something right, but this is so disappointing. Frankly, MK1 is becoming more and more unattractive as a game and I anticipate that it will die quickly, especially in the shadow of Tekken 8 and Street Fighter 6.

What a waste of a character put in for marketing of the show. Atleast Omniman seemed more authentic. Should have done a different character from the Boys like Butcher who could have been a gun zone with installs for powers when he takes Gen V.
