Gilberto Perez I don't work there anymore, didn't like it. It wasn't that hard though, everything is pretty easy to learn, the drinks are easy to make, the cash register was easy to use, but I dunno, wasn't my favorite job.
I got hired a few days ago and now i'm going through as many videos as i can to prepare myself before my official training starts! I've taken the liberty to make study notes of every item on their menu as well as how it's made, so i can be SUPER prepared! i'm nervous but excited :D
I've been with the company for three years now, and I'm a trainer, and I can honestly say don't be nervous about the training, as long as you listen and do your best, you'll be fine! Good luck to you!
L0kAazUl92 well actually, i walked into the store with a resume and the store manager was talking to a couple of baristas and i guess i gave off a great impression because she walked into the back, looked at this list of 4 or 5 scheduled interviews she already picked from the starbucks website and she scheduled me on the spot :D of course because of the way starbucks runs i had to apply online when i got home (they needed me in their system), but it was pretty great that i walked in with a resume and walked out with an interview! and she ended up hiring me only an hour after our interview that following thursday! :D
Tristan Sacrey Wow, I hope I can be as lucky as you! Tomorrow I plan on going to the Starbucks near my house with my resume. I've never had a job before so this would be my first. I talked on the phone with the manager today and he even asked for my name to look me up on his system. I'm so nervous to just walk into a coffee store that i've never been to before. Could you give me any advice?
I'm so friggin glad I got a great memory for this type of stuff, the problem is writing down the customers name and it becomes a real problem when their foreign and if you can't even pronounce their name it'll be a real problem to write it down.
Not really, foreign people I've noted either are used to it by now and don't tell you their full name, just give you an initial or something simple, or if they do tell you their name, you can just ask how to spell it. If it proves difficult even after that you can literally just pass it off without a name, it's not that big a deal.
Starbucks Dress Code manual lets you have some hair in the front like she has, it's used in one of the images on the "accepted" section. Just as long as it's tied back, as wrong as that is.
LOL I went training already. It wasn't that bad my supervisor was really nice and the employees were really nice to me. You'll be okay! Just be positive :)
Training was actually pretty easy and I knew nothing at all about coffee except you can put cream and sugar in it lol. You watch short short videos and take a few test that if miss questions to, its really no biggie. Just retake it and you're good, but the test are really easy and quick. My training lasted 1 week and a half. After that I was making drinks. I really learned most of everything after my training smh lol.
+Nia Miller How long would you say it took you to learn mostly all the skills you needed to know after you got on the job? After training? Also, besides making coffee, what exactly do you do day-to-day? And possibly also the region in which you live? Have you ever had to clean toilets for instance haha? Sorry if it's a lot, I'm just thinking about applying and have really only had one job where I had to do one or two tasks.
I want to work for Starbucks, so One day I can pull a squid ward on one customer "Can I get a tall, skinny, half sweet, blah blah blah" And I'll looks at her and go "we serve coffee here miss"
I’m training for supervisor. Best advicei can give to the future baristas it’ll take time and most stores have sticker machines unless your powers out your don’t write drinks it’s great practice the job as a barista helps so much confidence wise at least for myself it did
I was filling out an application thinking to myself this would be easy, its only coffee ...then I decided to watch one of these videos....after watching this video, FEAR struck my heart
People if you get a interview at Starbucks look at the training videos before you start working there first day of training you should be ok your welcome
I would love to work in any coffee shop because 1: I love coffee and 2: I love the chill vibe of coffee shops but I have very bad anxiety and I suck at memorizing things so I don’t think I can do it :’)
nope. well, not in canada at least. you have to apply online, and fill in all your info and what nots, and then you'll get called by the manager of whichever store you replied. as far as i know, there's supposed to be 3 sets of interview. the first is the phone interview, then the 2nd interview is about behavioural questions then the 3rd interview is just a sum of all the interviews. i guess it's different for all starbucks. :)
Jessica Gentry what a throwback comment! Lol I’m a nurse now! Working in this pandemic. When I was a barista in 2016 I liked it. However there were always those annoying customers who were so meticulous about specific ingredients in their drinks- you get used to it. It’s stressful at first because u have a lot to memorize.
i want to try it the The challenges is learning how to make all those different drinks and memorizing the the different measurements for each drink that is a challenge at least it seems like it would be
@@tobiasdraws2597 OMG it's a nightmare🤯 .I hate the till, so confusing 🥺 . Thanks God it's not a really busy shop and the staff are very supportive and friendly🥰 .
@adcro honestly I love it! I've have got so much better like the video I know how to go all positions. I just feel like my store isn't for me, it's super busy so it's quantity over quality which I dislike!
Do starbucks "baristas" know what they're doing? I mean, do they understand the espresso brewing process? Can they operate a manual or semi-auto machine? Is any of that knowledge, or any of those skills even necessary to work there?
No it's not necessary, but they offer classes for people who want to inquire said knowledge. If you ever see a barista with a black Coffee Master apron, like myself, they have taken all the courses. Each store will have at least one coffee master in case there are any questions customers (or partners) may have.
I’ve been a starbucks barista for 2years here in ksa saudi arabia, some of people they ordered a capuccino with no foam and latte more foam haha its so hard to make it haha im just kidding 🤪
01:15 can u not just ask for a tall caramel macchiato & just 4get all the silly custom things, that drink tastes amazing just the way it is & it's my fav drink!
she is so cute.. thanks for this educational video im applying part time to starbucks as a barista so this was helpful! hope you get transferred to my location Melanie! :P
Double-tall soy extra hot latte.*** I like how she apparently gets her drink every day and yet cannot call it right. You'd think she would have learned by now from hearing it every day.
I think the "double" meant that the number of espresso shots be doubled (so 2 shots) cuz a regular/default tall latte has only one shot. Extra hot meant that the steamed milk be extra hot, and the "soy" meant that the milk she preferred was soy instead of the regular whole milk.
TheChuck624 I just got hired at Starbucks I have a bachelors degree in Recreation Administration but right now I only work a part time position until I get a full time management role in my field Starbucks will be a great second part time job. Some people work there while going to school I had a college professor who worked there. She had a masters degree. She's now a full time college professor with a doctorate degree. So you're wrong that everyone who works here won't get anything better.
It's fine. They're likely in a shitty place in their own life and just make comments like this just to have the two seconds of feeling significant that they get from it. :D

I wouldn't call anyone that works at Dollar Bucks a "Barista." Save that for those of us that are actually certified Baristas.
You, sir, are an ass.

Different stores have different espresso machines, be it manual or automatic. So, yes, baristas know what they're doing.
I agree they would fired you on the spot I experience it four times at starbucks
