Calling down fire from heaven. Come rock from space, come...lol
Met Rick Danco years ago.....he came in to rent a car and what a nice guy he was. Didn't realize at the time what a cool cat he was.......my boss was like "haven't you seen the last waltz?" I was like no....but then I did...and man how.
Love these two always and forever❤
12 yes. Fk. " where you been so long" Love for ever.
These two doing JJ..how fucking cool is that...sadly all three are gone...and they ain't makin' any more.
I’ve been becoming a Rick Danko fan ever since I got myself a Gibson Ripper bass. Not only is he super talented but the Ripper is such an amazing bass and is super punchy as can be heard in this recording. What a hell of a bass guitar!
Rick was an all around great musician. The instrument matters but it's just a vehicle. A good musician will sound like themselves on different instruments.
Thanks for the song Mr Cale
Forever JJ
Rick danko always looks like he having so fun playing bass. singing and playing bass at the same time is hard but I've seen him do it many times. another... McCartney !!!
Rory
MERCI....merci...merci ,d avoir posté ce formidable document.......
Butter and Danko blues boppin' two late, great fucking legends!
Oh geez. That's addictive. Such great harp playing, power and grace. Incisive. Butterfield's and Danko's singing voices might not have been at peak, but man so much fun, such great music. This is what live music should be.
I get all sad and misty and nostalgic seeing this clip, reminder of my lost youth, as both Paul and Rick were two of my musical idols, along with Levon, Muddy, Little Walter....all gone now. But their music lives on through their recordings and filmed performances. Is it possible Paul was underrated as a harp player and singer?? I think so.
Please find me a time machine
NicolletIslandSlim Im 58 yrs old and have been playing harp for over 35 yrs. and i keep the old school in my harp style. Im no Paul Butterfield but i love playing the harp. Been listening to the blues since i was about 10yrs old.
This is timeless , great to know there are like minded people around , the last waltz is fantastic, really got me into ‘The Band’ and all the guests ! This is a gem of a clip I’ve only just found !
I was watching a Robbie Robertson interview yesterday from a couple of years back and was happy to hear that he had nothing but love for Levon and apparently went to his bed side at the time of Levon’s final days and held his hand ! It broke my spirit to think they fell out , the clip I saw restored it slightly knowing how good a Robbie is at telling a story !
It is not possible. All his peers gave Paul great respect!
hope to get to Woodstock ty to pay respects to Levon and Rick,RIP rock and roll forever
🤔..this is what happens when blues and rock hook up.. mesmerizing........
✨ Heaven's way cool✨
Two the best mo fos ever to grace a stage..... 🗝🎶🎶♥️
This is some wicked blues stompin'. The bass is UP here! Luv u Rick!

A JJ cale song marvellous song and a masterpiece band, or group remember the ‘group’ !
two greats covering one of the all-time greats
Correct
What a great band. This is a real treat to see and hear.
This man elevated harp playing and musicianship to levels not seen since his passing. Miss old Paul. When he passed I thought an era had come to an abrupt, abnormal, end.
I think your right.
Danko's bass line...WOW!
Paul Butterfield - ultra hip, incredibly talented, and gone way too soon......
A great version of the late great jj cale's crazy mama

OK, this is my next tune at a blues jam
What a gig!!! Everytime the pumping blues goes into the change. It´s pure magic!! The drums has problems with the tempo. No irritation, the feeling is there. Wowhhh!
Danko and Butter ... killer shit right there folks 👑
2 Hall of Famers.

Holy shit!!!!!

JJ Cale approves.
Cool
There are more clips of this same concert out there and it seems that Butter is 'talking' to the drummer a lot. My guess is the drummer is new or filling in with the band and is not sure of the tempo. The bass player is trying sync with him on the tempo. Paul keeps looking at the drummer. Seems like the drummer is rushing to me? Or maybe Paul wants is a little faster? I dunno. At times the song finds the pocket. Still a good performance and fun to listen too!
Great cover, but NOBODY did it better than JJ Cale!!!
phlyfiremama So true and with that slide. I remember in my youth when i first heard JJ Cales Crazy Momma on my parents radio.
JJ Cale was in a class all his own. This is a smokin' version though, without a doubt. I suspect it would've been a little too much jamming for the master of "less is more".
ВЕЩЬ преподнесена музыкально в ином ключе, аки у Мика с ко.
Actually, they started playing faster pretty quickly into it...started out pretty slow. A good drummer will prevent that from happening (to a degree), but when the bass and guitar push it, it's hard to stop it.
Overrated? I wonder how you could listen to The Last Waltz and still say that!
This is some rugged shit.
ok!
Hear about 4:00 in when everybody got excited and started playing faster? They really needed in-ear monitors and a click track.
Don't flame me. It's a joke.
never liked Dandle bass
from Better Days to this?
Guess it's an easy band to follow,
was listening to the drums, piano, bass and so on easy to follow, but Butter came from Better days, way better music. Whatever possessed him to play with this completely normal band?
Frankly Butterfield had way better bands. He basically put up with them.
I agree 100%. After being used to the greatest live band ever, the Butterfield Blues Band, stuff like this is horrible by comparison. Paul is great, but compared to him, these guys were clowns. I saw Butterfield with the likes of Danko, Gary Busey, Dallas Taylor, Blondie Chaplin, "members of Steppenwolf" and other inferior musicians and it was heartbreaking that my musical hero lowered his standards to the point where he was playing with bands like this that were average at best.
@@rodgarnay51 Nonetheless, Paul and Rick were great friends and this was their "pubs" tour, which was about getting back to some basics but of course also involved quite a bit of blow along with the drinks. I don't think he took it as seriously as his earlier bands. His health was also declining. It is what it is, I'm glad to see some footage of him having fun with a good friend if nothing else.
@@BarryMiller2956 they both look really good here
@@rodgarnay51 I'm sorry but Danko was as good a bass guitarist as anybody he played with. Chaplin not as good as those guys but Danko is definitely not a clown
Rubbish those early days were long since gone, he's playing with the band he wants to playing with, don't you just hate those clowns who do the thinking of others, anyway butter was just about washed up a few years later!..
The Band has been and still is one of the most overrated acts ever .
we should take you out back and beat you
@@brötzmannsax YES!
This 10 year old comment has gotten only more stupid with age.
DANKO.
