Seeing the tier 8 tech tree tanks having low winrates because of all the overpowered premium tanks is pretty sad. Just goes to show, spend money and be more competitive.

While there's a lot of truth to that, keep in mind that tech tree tanks have stock grinds, 75% crews unless you pay and are sometimes played by newish players, while people generally put in significant time into the game before they spend money on it and you can use your 100% crews from other tanks in the premiums

To be fair, tier 8 is where the credit farming premiums have always been so I would expect to see them more heavily represented. What is sad to me is how low tier 8 WR's are.

Personal take on the SPG being highest win rate of standard tier 8's: All tier 8's end up in tier 10 matches constantly, an SPG is the least affected by this
Yeah there are a lot of HE pennable tanks in 10's
But there is an equal amount of Tier 8s and artilleries on each team, so it balances out. What doesn't balance out is the Premium Tier 8s being simply better, so any game where one team has more Premiums and wins against the team with more tech tree tanks, it pushes the Premium win rates up and the tech tree down.
This is the moment when u realize that the old game concept of making Premium tanks somewhat underpowered BY INTENTION in comparison to their tech tree peers was actually a very good idea.
Nowadays we see the consequences of not following this concept any longer.
When elite tank is superior than premium tank, that's a good one because with premium, even if you lose you could still gain some silver while elite tank have an advantage for winning battle. Trade win for silver.
I really appreciate that QB doesnt cherrypick his games. we get to see that sometimes bad games happen. It's nice to know (and makes playing less stressful when) that there are times that even some of the best players in the world cant do anything

Honestly think the real problem isnt even that the tech tree tanks suck as there are many good and fun tier 8 tech tree tanks but the real problem are all the stock grinds. stuff like a stock tiger 2 sucks but the tiger 2 itself is 1 of the best tier 8s i ever played
I agree. Although I get the "grinding" aspect when it comes to getting better modules, but at the same time, all it does is negatively affect the player's, and subsequently, the tank's overall win rate.
Bro tier 8 Pantera is literally worse than the premium version of it (progetto). How is that even fair for f2p players
I agree there are plenty of nice tier 8's that have harsh stock grinds, but one example always comes to mind for me when I think of premium power creep. The is3 is a very good, solid heavy, but there are 3 premium heavies now that do its job better, if with only a few drawbacks. 252U Defender, is3a, and the Kirovets. I'd also make a case for counting the Obj 703 II, but im going for the single barrel types. Sure the is3 is still great, but anyone can just pick up one of these when Wargamming brings them out, and theres literally no need to play the is3. Its very sad to me.
Yeah, stock tanks are a fucking joke. That's why I completely stopped playing regular tanks. I play premiums and reward/special/bond/token tanks. I have grinded for two tier 10s, and I will never grind for another tech tree tank again.

Above tier 6 on Ensk, every tank gets into the action very quickly. That's just how it goes when you spawn inside spotting range.
Hot tip for QB and anyone else: when you're about to be rammed, if you're reversing away from the rammer and realize there's no possibility to escape and you will get rammed, the least you can do when you have that realization, is to stop reversing and change direction toward the rammer, that way you shift the ramming calculations a tiny little bit more in your favour than if you're being rammed as you try to move away from the rammer.
Which is the opposite of real life, where moving away makes things more favorable to you. Probably why people don't think of that!

My opinion - tier 8 are doing badly because they have to fight higher tier more often than not.
Artillery can still be more effective in that scenario...
T8 premiums are actually doing super fine, so arty is just up there because they dont have a premium counterpart they could be matched against.
5:34 155 51 is actually hilariously fast when it's got field mods on, with 1st giving engine power and 2nd giving 5kmh top speed boost, if you pair that with a turbo... I know it's useless 99.9% of the time, but it's hillarious when you're relocating and you can drive around at 69km/h with 28.9hp/ton... and thats without 105 octane even.
bc 155 58 is even better, you can have troll TD moments
I won't claim the Lorr 155 (either of them) is a spectacular vehicle, but the speed makes it a silly fun SPG to drive. And frankly, it's one of the most hilarious late game TD mode SPGs you can hope for; folks often don't have a chance to even react when you come screaming around a corner at them. It's also a halfway decent ram; sure the hp is a bummer but its fairly heavy and the speed means meaty rams on many tanks. It's a glorious way to end a match, win or lose. Screeeach DERP RAM *explode*

But power to weight and therefore acceleration and ability to keep that top speed is therefore much worse, but yeah. 155 58 i imagine will be hilarious with field mods too, don't have it yet though, I'm on 155 55 as i only play arty like 2-3 times per year.

As a Free to Play player, I experienced the same pain in grinding through the mid and higher tiers.
Maybe on next "Playing" series, can you do tanks that are not top? Like start from the rank 20 and below, or the worst per tier tank. I think alot of people will like to know how you'll play those tanks.

The VK.100 01P is my favorit tier 8 tank.
In that tank i do not care what a round costs.
Full bond equipment, gold and big med and repair kid.
Some of the good rounds make me have a lot of fun in it.
VK 10000p has a very tall commander cupola….everyone will shot at it… I’m start to getting angry about this tank

the reason why premium tanks often have win ratios is that they are fully upgraded right from the get go, only thing you can improve there is the crew. If you start grinding out a tech tree tank, the first few dozen games you will probably have a WR which is around 40 percent or even lower. Thats not the case with premium ones. Plus often you sell the tech tree tank when moving to the next higher tier, so a lot of time tech tree tanks don't get mastered as premium ones. IMO you can't compare Win Ratios from Tech tree tanks with premium tanks because of all these different factors. From the WR alone you can't really say whether a tech tree tank is bad or not.

the nerf on arty made playing that class even more painful, as you have even less opportunity to carry your team. Before, you had enough influence in the battle to prevent a loss in some circumstances, but now if you have the worst team you can't do anything, you're doomed..

arty isn't even supposed to be able to carry a team, that class should be meant as a support class, ridiculous how you can click from the back of the map and drown yourself when you feel like it
Good screw arty takes no skill when you can hit vehicles across the map with no retaliation by the tank you shot

Tier 8 matchmaking isnt kind to the tech tree tanks. The 3-5-7 template system was the worst thing to happen to Tier 8s
Grinding tier 8 tech tree tanks is a miserable experience right now so those winrates dont surprise me.
Depends on the 8 imo. A good turret, a good gun, and/or good speed often makes a lot of 8's at the least useable in 10 games.

Driving that T28 across a open map like he did was dumb. I like how he blames the map and the enemy for his bad decision. Then when he's in the M Y 3 tank and people rush at him and take him out he calls them donkeys and morons. Basically he is like many people in this game that complain its not his fault but everyone else. Way to go QB. LOL

The Lorraine 51 is an amazing artillery. Extremely fast and traverses quickly, very accurate gun and decent damage. But keep in mind it's artillery lol

Nice battles, so everybody can see that even QB can suck in tech tree tanks, although he was using food, directives, which free to play players do not use. And now imagine that you are completelly free to play, you just jumped to Tier8, lets say to AMX 65t, you have 90% crew and stock tank ... good luck for your first 50 battles in that shit to get to Tier9 :)
yeah the 65t is just a bad tank all round. loving the VK and the caernavon though, little bit situational, but actually can have a good games because of the armour
Not only nowadays premium tanks better than techtree tanks, but people who buy them probably takes the game more seriously.
It’s funny we all do donkey plays and it’s great when they work and take out a good player that’s holding the advance.
For example I was in my O-Ni and on a map I blocked the way in a corridor like a gate with my tank and the enemies lost the game because of that
Its incredibly funny to me how mad he got at a "moron" strategy that worked in killing him, while he congratulates players that outplay him and beat him with skill
i think the guys who rushed you knew that you were qb so they knew it's better to sacrifice 3 tanks but atleas qb cant take 6 tanks from them

For win rate on the NA server, the top 36 tier 8 tanks and 65 out of the top 70 tanks tier 8 tanks are all premium tanks.

Considering myself an average player, I do not hold a single tier 8 normal tank in my garage (5 premium tanks for obvious gold farming reasons, though).
It's filled with Tier 6, 7 and 9 simply because they're much more balanced and Tier 8 has atrocious matchmaking.
With either Tier 10 or Tier 8 prems dominating the battlefield including gold spam, I find myself unable to grind Tier 8 in normal ways, usually ending up skipping the line with blueprints.
You are unable to compete against fully trained crews+food, 95%HEAT/5%HE rounds loaded and field mods/equipment as a stock tank.
And you will mostly find those type of players at tier 8 and above.
Also 95% of all borsig, Ferdinand, IS-3 and recently M-III-Y players seem to be braindead regardless of MM and balancing, no offense.
I haven't had the Lorr 155 for long but I love it. I find that French arty is fast, has good penetration but slow shell velocity and virtually no splash. You really need to be accurate but when you do you hit you hit hard!

I think the main reason you see all the tech tree vehicles with lower win rates is that there are stock games included in those numbers. You never have to suffer through stock grinds that drag down your win rate in premium tanks.

The Lorraine 155 51 is supprisingly mobile. Is pretty good to move possitions every few shots. At least when I played it 🤣
@@andersjensen1448 people call him egotistic, dislike his personality and playstyle, and think he does give enough useful advice for high skill gameplay. He only shows his own replays which tend to be overshadowed by lots of much better players

I find it no coincidence that of the bottom 10, EIGHT are mediums or lights...in fact, seven are mediums. Mediums are just bad as a class. In general, they're not fast enough or have high enough fire rates to be a light, and their armor is too bad to be a heavy. They're the worst of both worlds, and only a SMALL number of them are viable (and usually, those are either slanted to speed and fire rate like the Progetto, or slanted to armor like the Centurion or Defender) To add to that, of the top 10, ONE is a Light, and there are no mediums.
This was awesome first time I've got to see quickybaby actually play an arty live or otherwise in forever except for in his best moments videos

I know my comment is way off the topic, but I was today on a memory lane thinking about the games when I met some of the best players in Wot and like Sir Foch and they didn't even try to hide who they were or their stats. I haven't ever
confronted you QB myself in a battle, but several times your clan mates yes. I have killed some of the most famous streamers on the Eu server and unicums. And I do not stream snipe. I don't care about stats. I am the guy who does always the hard work and I am willing to take the hits. I brawl with every class from lights to heavies, cos someone has to do it.
Yeah. Whenever I play a T8 premium the worst is we it like T9, mostly it’s T8 games. But as soon as I get into a Centurion 1 it’s constant T10 games and I’m sick of it

Between the go-kart EBR type of vehicles and premiums, WG is methodically ruining the game.

But that is only for the new teir 8 prem tanks, any of the older teir 8 prem they have not nothing to make them worth having.
You made "Before it was nerfed", why not make "Before it was buffed"? Kran? Leo? Test server scouts? 1st stage E5 and nerfed E5?
And also, top 9 spots on that list including 5!!! SPGs shows how far it makes no sence whatsoever to play tier 8 tech-tree tanks in that game anymore... You will constantly either get drawn into tier 10 battles, where you're a meme or even being top tier you gonna be matched up against those milions of Borasques (or whatever that thing is called), Renegades or IS-3A's etc...
It's even worse when you realize that most people play these tanks stock and it takes forever to unlock the guns. Wargaming should reduce the amount of XP required to unlock modules at tier 8.
The MM for Tier VIII is why my play gravitates back towards Tier IV-VI these days.
The tier 8 french artillery was my first artillery, i got 3 marks on before the arty changes. Its a pretty good arty, because it has a good ratio of damage/stun, accuracy and reload time. The gun ark is a bit low, so you need to consider it into your positions sometimes. But the speed enables those position changes.
All in all probably best tier 8 arty.
SPG might have better luck because they're being carried around by the premiums vs premiums without having to face them directly

You need no more evidence to prove the game has reached a point of no return, when you play tier 8 and its rare to see any tanks that aren't premium. When the premium tanks are better than tech tree, they make more credits, no stock grind etc... Wargaming are cashing out now as they know their game is dying. The only way I can see them bringing the game back into a playable state is A) rebalance all the premium tanks, like they should have done years ago, or B) Allow free to plays to actually play the game without it being a slow, unfair grind, by boosting exp or credits earned per battle overall

Since I stopped playing WoT I have bad experience with playing Tech tree tanks because the match maker is flooded with prem tanks and barely any Tech tree tanks exist in the match

Having to play against tier 10s in a stock tier 8 tank is the biggest joke of a game setup I've ever seen. Makes call of duty look like a sophisticated game.
Except you don't have to play against T10's in a stock T8. Play against those other stock T8's tanks and let the big boys fight themselves.
@QuickyBaby, you made one statement that needs correction in the video: you said "There are no premium artillery in the game." There is actually one, the Tier V French 105 leFH18B2 "Leaf Blower". In addition to long walks on the beach, it loves to use it's obscene rate of fire to dunk all over Tier V games. Fortunately/Unfortunately, depending on how you look at it, as a Tier V it cannot be used for progression on a lot of the missions, and it's shells have a very small effective radius, meaning you need to use it with precision. It also isn't typically available for sale, so there's also that.

QB is one of the 4 of 15 Non premium tanks in the game, looks like not much people are farming tanks like in the past.
I like the VK I'm working my way down that line slowly atm.

Stock tier 8: Load premium everything. The newer premium tanks are better than tech tree equivalents in many ways.
It reminds me of my old clan that required Type 59s for tier 8 clan wars (long ago). It was after WG stopped selling them, so here I was with my T-44 (since there wasn't a Chinese tech tree equivalent at that point).
Not even close! I put a derp 122 on it to have a derpy gun amongst the lovely 59s.
Playing tier 8 is like being the poodle at a pit bull fight. You have one purpose that is to feed the tier 9s and 10s. That's why there are so many premiums helps make it just a little less painful.
Tier 8 regular tanks has always been the black sheep of WoT, even before the infestation of OP premiums. Especially with medium tanks since there has been no good tier 8 regular mediums since forever (as far as I remember there have never been a regular tier 8 MT that was a staple of Tier 8 CW/skirmishes). There are some decent ones (panthera, T-44), but compared to other tier or other class tier 8 MT regular simply suffers.
HT at least has VK, Yoh, and some decent ones like IS-3 and Tiger II. TD still has RHM, Udes, ISU. LT sadly suffers since EBR era with only brits LT surviving with a super niche camo build.

When you have to grind your tier 8 tech tree tanks so they aren't stock your win rate will take a big hit and when 80% of your games are against higher tier tanks....you're lucky to have an above 40% win rate. Add to that the premiums are superior tanks and you have a recipe for failure. Took me 8 games to get a win in the LHMTV yesterday because every game I had to go up against LT-432's and ELC's.

I officially forgive all 60TP players because they had to play through the 53TP which requires nearly 100k xp to get a gun that works. The stock gun on the 53TP has 192mm standard pen and only 225mm gold pen. On a 105mm. At tier VIII. Against things you cant actually pen even with gold sometimes. Now a year later with the MM filled with 703 IIs, -BS- BZ-176s and all the other tier VIII hull down monsters playing that tank is pain.
The matchmaker doesn't care if ur arty. You still count as a unicorn on your team.
BINGO. Which is why when someone berates you in chat for 'only having a 48% win rate' ... but you play mostly tech tree tanks ... you just ignore them.
I have a win rate over 50% on the Tiger II, T32, T-44, VK100.01P, AT15, the 110, ... and weirdly my best win rate in a tech tree tier 8 is the Centurion (61.9%).
QB in arty? Good stuff.
I've stood my ground against an E3 and a Grille once and bounced over 8k in my trusty VK100p I love that tank and I do have some good 52% winrate in that tank
