The armor vargur actually had better resist than the shield one so I think it might actually tank more (it does with my marauder level 4), but you do give up like... half your dps lol. I was only doing 1300 dps in bastion

Dude I’m getting tired of fucking feeding ships to people that I know don’t know how to pvp. How many ships do I have to lose solo to start to become better? What should I be learning? I’m trying to take away a little bit from each fight but it’s pissing me off that I’m literally losing basically every single engagement and I’m using a Kiki. Shit has terrible cap even when trying to conserve what I use. What should I do to help progress this learning curve it’s getting ridiculous. I’m fine with losing ships but geez dude I can’t win a damn thing. Fed like 200 ships and feel like I’m getting nowhere. Should I be studying ranges, what certain weapons look like on a ship... what do I need to do for better engagement.

If you have actually had hundreds of solo fights, you wouldn't be asking for advice, you would have learned by now. Or maybe you just want an easy button, hence the credit line for kiki's. Meta doesn't equal skill. Skill comes from actual experience.
