Dang man, surprised to see you driving a Caprice in late 2022. Even the small departments near me here in NC have gotten rid of all those. Also stay safe out there, Im hoping to start blet here in March.
This caprice was a detective car before it was used to get to and from training classes. It’s not in the patrol fleet, and the city is about to auction it as soon as I get my new unit
I live in Brevard County FL; one of the more populated counties in the state; and they still have quite a few Crown Vics, 6th Gen Dodge Chargers and Impalas. Then they also have brand new ‘23 Chevy Tahoes and Explorers 😂
My first time bumping in to your channel. It's beautiful to see a cop share their day to day life. We're all just regular people who have regular life experiences after all. Couldn't help but notice you don't wear a seat belt on duty. Is that for a specific reason?
I’m just a regular person as well. That’s the point:). I got tired of losing various bits of equipment because they got caught in the seatbelt. I do put it on when I’m headed to a hot call. I do not make traffic stops for seatbelts😁
I love watches lol. It was actually just something that is part of my ritual before work. That’s why i included it. It’s like when I change watches it’s part of getting in the zone…leaving home at home and going to work. I do the same thing when I walk into the house after work
Thank you sir! Your channel popped up on my feed. May god watch you and protect you while you protect and serve! Have a merry Christmas and a happy new year! 🎊🎆

Officer Ryder, how are you today. My dept out here in Wisconsin uses 10 calls, too. But we have no 10-90? We have a 10-94 and 10-99.! Great show, brother, in blue. You're not boring. Your funny ass heck! It's sweet how your dept. Fills out a daily report on a single piece of paper. Because we don't, we have to type down every stop we do on the computer. Then a report on a serious report on that case second?!
@@DougSpende-eb2fz thanks for the complements! As it happens, that piece of paper daily report is about to be a thing of the past. They have our stats within our dispatch cad system so they’re going to start using that as our daily report. We won’t have to do a thing!
I have been considering a career in law enforcement and have some questions. 1. I am attending college first for a criminal justice degree. I have heard mixed things about this. Some say it is useful, some say I should pursue a different degree as a backup plan. What do you think? 2. Does your salary allow you to live comfortable? I am in no way trying to become rich, but I do not want to worry about paying bills and feeding myself. Are you able to live without stress? 3. Do you police in a city, suburban, or rural area? I have been looking all over and am not sure which locations I would enjoy the most. From what I’ve heard each area has a different experience for policing. 4. How does being an officer affect your social life? 5. How does specialization work? I have always wanted to become a detective 6. Do you enjoy your job? What pros and cons do you have? 7. What do you recommend for training for the academy? I have been doing weight training and running 2 miles everyday. Sorry if this is too much but I have been contacting people and researching as much as possible
I would say choose a different degree. CJ is very overrated. Or if you know you want to be a cop, just skip the degree entirely and save a lot of money. If you’re single with no kids, and you don’t have a lot of debts you’ll live quite comfortably. If you’re supporting a family and your spouse doesn’t work, then you’ll have a hard time without working overtime. I have several coworkers that support families, and they’re usually working off duty gigs. I work in a city. Each area and each agency is different. If you like being busy and don’t mind taking calls and writing multiple reports in a shift, then city is for you. I find that the shift goes faster when I’m busy, and I like taking calls for service. A lot of sheriffs deputies I know take anywhere between one and four calls in their twelve hour shift. As for your social life, if you work twelve hour shifts, then you’ll likely work my schedule. That means you get every other weekend off, and you’re off a total of half the days in a year. There is plenty of time to be social. You’ll always have friends asking you legal questions though. Usually, specializations are offered to the entire patrol division as spots come open. Anyone who is interested can sign up. There could be tests or interviews or practical skill trials depending on the position. The only specialization I have currently is the SWAT team. Otherwise I’m just a patrolman😏. I love my job. It’s different every day, I get to work alone (I’m an introvert), there is adrenaline, you feel like you’re making a difference at times, you get a true brotherhood of people who are the only other ones to share your particular experiences. There is plenty of overtime (at least at my department) if you want or need it. These are just a few of the pros. As for cons, you’re far more likely to get into a car accident, you’re going to fight, you’re going to be wet for entire shifts, you’re going to be out in the cold or heat, you may not get to eat, you may not get to pee, you don’t make great money, you’re going to see things that will haunt you. You’re going to be scared. You’re going to see people at the worst times of their lives. You have eyes on you all the time. people expect more and better from you than everyone else on the planet. You’ll be loved by some and utterly hated by others simply for going to work. You’ll miss some family events. There are as many cons as there are pros, if not more cons. This job is a calling. If you’re not genuinely called to do it, then it may not be for you. And that’s completely ok. I think you will be fine in the academy. Start doing some aerobic and circuit workouts. If you can do these for an hour without throwing up, you’re far ahead of some others who will be in your class. I hope this helps
UA-cam Algorithm understood the assignment ❤🎉 I am an ER RN and i decided to sign up for the Citizen Police Academy in Anchorage, Alaska. Prepping for ny ride along next week.
@15:06 white car is like “alright let me get off this highway and not behind this cop” 😭 it’s funny because even if im riding around and i got my license and insurance i still get nervous when a cop is behind me

Very cool video. I always wondered how you get in and out of those vests. There's so much stuff on them. It must me universal for fleet vehicles. I'm always getting into a vehicle at work and the gas tank is between the E and 1/4.
Glad you finally got an answer! Lol. And yea our policy says we’re required to fill them up if they’re below 3/4. Sometimes things happen at the end of shift tho. But the good news is I don’t have to worry about that at all anymore. I have my own unit
I think the real thing you need to worry about when you put on that duty belt is to make sure you use that restroom. Once its one you feel like you gotta doo doo.
@2:30 No blinker and speeding 20 mph over the limit.. 2 months ago i got pulled over for doing 80 mph on the highway and the ticket was 170$, it was my first ticket too. Anyway, that was a great video, keep it up and stay safe!
Yea that wasn’t on purpose which is why I slowed down. Hadn’t gotten used to the caprice yet, and she wants to roll lol. I left it in because I’m just a person like you. It happens. As for blinkers…who uses their blinker all the time? I don’t think I’ve ever written a ticket for that. Thanks for the support!
When I did my ride along I found it interesting the two categories of people when they saw a police car. They either slammed on the brakes and started driving A lot slower, then you have the people that apparently didn't care if they got stopped! Someone actually ran a stop sign, to cut us off, and their sticker expired the year before!

The accident diagram is for the adjuster's investigation, and, most importantly, for court in case it ever goes to civil trial. Just like your agency would diagram a homicide scene for investigative purposes and, hopefully, a criminal trial.
I don’t carry a baton anymore. I’ve used it one time and it was to break a window. It also looks really bad when you hit someone with a stick. I do have pepper spray, but it rides in my bag. I have also only used that once, and it was in the middle of a mob. I started using a fogger after that which is too big to carry on me

I got your video on my recommendation page, I can say I’m not disappointed. This was such a great video, something about your vibe you seem like someone that would be really fun to hang out with. You got a new subscriber and I’m looking forward to more of these videos 💯
Thank you for the kind words!!
Youre super cute officer….. and endearing…. This was an enjoyable video since you have a good talking voice and can make a relaxed atmosphere
Very nice video man! It's very interesting to know how a typical day is in your job as a police officer! I really like the sound of the engine!! It is crazy! In the US police has very nice cars!!
Thank you! Where are you watching from? I love knowing what countries viewers are in

That’s great! I’m so glad you got some enjoyment. Keep up the hard work
Very nice and educating content.its so good to see fellow law enforcement going through a quiet peaceful shift and going home safely.Dont mind people disregarding of what you do.im on the counter terrorism unit and yes,we also have people giving us sticks here and there(i am on the other side of the globe from you btw).Keep the thin blue line going.respect sir.
You’re absolutely right, they’re not always that peaceful. And I don’t take much personally. If I did, I would be in the wrong line of work. Thank you for what you do! And thank you for the kind words.

Exactly! It’s awesome to know that people in other countries are watching me lol. I’m also glad to know you share the calling
@@justapatrolman4246 I just found out this video. Glad to see this was a "boring" shift, at least you come home safe at the end of the day despite what we all see and heard here in Canada about violence in the USA. You look kinda cool for an officer, keep up the good attitude, it's refreshing.
I will admit, having a good attitude does get hard for me at times. But it never lasts long. I love the job and the people I meet. Thank you for the kind words
I had this playing in the background while I was getting some work done and it was quite entertaining! Please do more!!

I was a police officer for 6 years! Everything he says is amazing. I am now a Dispatcher I was in law school in 2023 ready to be a lawyer
I miss the crown Vic so much lol
Good video, very entertaining, also what a nice policeman < Keep up the good work and stay safe out there!!
Please do more!!!!❤❤❤ I love watching these police vlogs/ride-along videos!! 😊
You’re not the only one it seems. I’ll try!
I can't believe that you did a Jeremy DeWitte by showing off the watches ⌚⌚⌚⌚
I love watches lol. It was actually just something that is part of my ritual before work. That’s why i included it. It’s like when I change watches it’s part of getting in the zone…leaving home at home and going to work. I do the same thing when I walk into the house after work
Thank you sir! Your channel popped up on my feed. May god watch you and protect you while you protect and serve! Have a merry Christmas and a happy new year! 🎊🎆
Thank you so much! And right back at you
I'm nervous around officers, but you are cool
We’re just people;). I’m glad you think so
Thank you for everything you do for our Country and put your Life on the Line of Duty. Always welcomed to visit Portland, Oregon. 😊
I really appreciate the support. And I’ve never been to Oregon. I’d love to though!
Is no one going to talk about how in this video gas is $2
This pump is run by the city. I’m sure that has something to do with it. City vehicle getting city gas…
Hey man; thanks for your service. Currently nearly there to start serving in NC. Would love if you did a video for new officers; what to expect in the FTO process, academy, ‘the little things’ such as struggles you may have had. Thanks dude!
Me and a buddy have been toying with doing something like that. Maybe just a conversation between the two of us about certain topics or questions I’ve gotten. That being said, if you have anything specific in addition to the things you mentioned, let me know. Good luck in your new career. You’ll be fine
Any chance you can show how to write a report? What make a good report vs a bad one? Etc .. great content man
You’re the second person to ask for something like this. I’ll definitely make a video on this
I’m going to school for law enforcement. I’m glad I found your channel to see how it is going for you.
That’s great! Learn all you can. Just so you know, you don’t have to go to school for this line of work
@@justapatrolman4246how do I pass the pellet b test? I failed it the first time 😢 and I really want to be a police officer!!! Do you have any resources I can use to study?
I’m not familiar with that test. Can you help me help you?
great video. i think a patrol car/trunk video tour would be good if you're not going to get in trouble with your department. just food for thought
As soon as I get my hands on my new patrol unit, I’ll make that happen. The ‘23 ford interceptors are amazing
i just subbed. best cop out there! thanks for your service! you should do another one of these. my dream is to be a police officer when i grow up!❤️
Thanks man! Although you give me way too much credit. We need people who want to do the job. Look forward to adding you to the blue
You were right originally. The sticker in the windshield for texas people is the registration (which requires an inspection + valid insurance to get).
Haha I knew it was one or the other. It’s in the spot where our LA inspection stickers go

You’ll do fine man! You’re the first update I’ve gotten from someone telling me they want to be a cop. Proud of you!
@@justapatrolman4246 I've done it. I am now officially a police officer! Was a long journey and a hard one. I tell everyone it was the most painful school of my life haha. The school of pain. Officially the youngest police officer ever for my department!
Congratulations man! When you get out there by yourself, forget the pride and joy of graduating and becoming one of us. Focus on what’s in front of you because that is what will keep you safe. Then go home and be proud again;)
"Maybe a loose crackhead" coming out of the woods made me audibly laugh. You're funny.

I have always wanted to become a detective
@@justapatrolman4246 thank you so much for the information. This was the most helpful information I have heard from a current officer. Stay safe

Glad you finally got an answer! Lol. And yea our policy says we’re required to fill them up if they’re below 3/4. Sometimes things happen at the end of shift tho. But the good news is I don’t have to worry about that at all anymore. I have my own unit

When I did my ride along I found it interesting the two categories of people when they saw a police car. They either slammed on the brakes and started driving A lot slower, then you have the people that apparently didn't care if they got stopped! Someone actually ran a stop sign, to cut us off, and their sticker expired the year before!
Welcome to police life lol

The accident diagram is for the adjuster's investigation, and, most importantly, for court in case it ever goes to civil trial. Just like your agency would diagram a homicide scene for investigative purposes and, hopefully, a criminal trial.
That does make sense. I suppose I do decent crash reports since I’ve never been to court for one🎉
