How is terrain more useful than a cannon that can aim and shoot? This is a good addition and we already had a speeder and a walker in the last 501st battle pack.
In my opinion the helmets are massively inaccurate and the no waist capes is annoying. I hope LEGO go back to the old style of clone helmets, like the ones we saw in the 2014, 212th battle pack etc. But that being said, the inclusion of the new macro-binocular piece is amazing and the clone backpack tile piece too. Overall the canon looks to be a fun and accurate build with basic but decent play features, minifigures also solid, but again they would be better if they used the older styles of clone helmets and brought back waist capes. I think there should be better management of the helmet pieces. A “holes when necessary” approach should definitely be used going forward. Clone troopers in normal sets should use the original plain helmet mold, those who use visors or 2-sides attachments use the new helmet mold, and the ones that use antenna only use a 3rd helmet mold with only 1 hole. This does a few things 1. Solves the issue of the holes looking goofy when not filled. Tbh I have the new helmets, when the holes are filled (like on Cody and my gunner) they look good. 2. People who wanted “customizable” clones in their army want a select few, not all, so not all helmets need holes. Even so, if this is a big enough issue, then just put 1-2 helmets with holes in big clone sets and 1 in battle packs. 3. Removes the need for “consumer friendly rendering” (ahem) of products. Even if this was an accident, it’s clearly the result of trying to make the figures look better than they are, and it’s unacceptable. A holes when necessary approach to helmets would be accurate and tolerable on box art. Or just redesign the darn accessories and make accurate helmets…
Yeah I agree, LEGO should’ve made p2 accurate accessories and redesign the p2 helmet to have just two holes. Instead they just used the p1 accessories and made the p2 helmet worst.
Lego can’t just redesign the accessories when it comes to the sunvisor since unlike the phase 1 visor it doesn’t use the holes to clip in, it goes above and around. While custom clone makers can create an accurate mold it falls off if you look at it wrong, and lego has to make these pieces so they can actually stay together when a child plays with them. It’s a sad compromise that we have to come to terms with, something some people can’t seem to wrap their heads around.
@@FoggyFate well that’s the point of the “holes when necessary” approach I think should and quite easily could be implemented. Sometimes I really feel like David should be harsher when he criticizes Lego. Otherwise it is a set with solid minifigs although as already pointed out here and by many others there is still a good room to improve on them, the build is not that exciting. For that I will get a few but not over 15 €, preferrably under 14 €.
Lego: we need 2 battlepacks a year again. There is so much that could be covered: other Clones, something Imperial (early, like in Bad Batch, Andor era, the Remnant from Mando), Rebel Fleet Troopers (I would love to see a khaki jacketed officer with 3 Troopers), the Sepratists (which could include Geonosians or Umbarans, not just droids), Pyke Syndicate, Wookies, Maul Mandalorians...any of these would be a hit.
I completely agree, Star Wars needs more “cheap” sets and battle packs are perfect for that. Seeing that inflation and pricing increasing will discourage people to buy the more expensive stuff.
I’m so glad they finally made macrobinoculars! Ever since watching The Clone Wars when I was younger and seeing Bly and others I wanted those in Lego!!
I can’t believe it’s almost a decade since Kashyyyk. Back then I always wished for a Wookiee Fluttercraft set. It would be based on that scene where clones are hunting wookiees. I was thinking it would come with a Wookiee warrior, Wookiee Pilot, 41st elite corps AT-RT driver and a Kashyyyk 41st scout trooper, the builds of the set being a Fluttercraft and a AT-RT. I really thought there was a high chance of the set because Lego had come out with three new clone helmet molds and I though they’d do an AT-RT driver one.
After I hopefully get a third 2020 501st set, I'll plan on getting at least two or three of this set! 2023 UPDATE: I now have four. I do wish LEGO would give prequel era sets the same treatment they give OT era sets.
Looks like a great set to diversify your 501 st army with to get the clone wars variations especially in p2 clones. But I do agree should be physical waist capes. And hey been a long time since a stormtrooper battlepack was made, snowtroopers are great but kind of limiting to hoth and snowstyle mocs
Hear me out: dual molded legs with black on top white on bottom and the top white of the legs are printed and the waist cape is the black that wraps around
While a battlepack of different kinds of clones like you said 212th (especially for going with the AT-TE), normal phase II, 327th, and shock troopers (or in my opinion would be also great would be AotC phase I, I have a huge bias towards those) would’ve been amazing, I still think this is really great to obviously further build up our 501st Legion armies. So I’ll definitely pick one up the first chance I get in stores
HUGE clone wars fan here. This is a nice set, but there are some serious issues that we cannot continue to overlook. These new helmet molds... They are inaccurate, they make the helmets look silly. Lego took the time to redesign the helmets but wouldn't take the time to redesign the accessories or redesign the new helmets right. The 212th troopers in the at-te look odd, these now look odd. I hate that extra time and care of details wasn't given to this new design. I'm no designer, but the excuse of "well the way the visors sit, this is actually more accurate and this is the only way we could make it work" is ridiculous. Lego is capable of AMAZING designs and molds, but they chose to go this route MOVING FORWARD... It pains me to see Lego Star Wars finally getting more clone wars sets, but suffer such STARK design flaws. I hope the designers listen to this feedback, and I hope more in the community start being honest and up front with Lego about this.
100 % agree! This development is especially painful considering that Lego used to care about these details a lot more before 2019. It is also the final proof that the main reason for Lego not including waistcapes for the snowtroopers since 2019 was not that they could sit in their seats in the AT-AT or these action battle set flops (this might be mindblowing for some, but you can take the waist capes off) but simply Lego was too greedy about it. Also the fact that Lego uses these renders on their boxes and other official product photos to conceal such systematic errors that they are not willing to fix like misprints (Mando, 212th clones, even phase 2 clones in general look a little different in these renders than in reality), bad placement of accessories like in this set here, light saber blades that are frosty in reality are crystal clear there and weak bright prints on dark bricks like the tan shirt on the classic ANH Han Solo.
The set is solid (I will never complain about getting more clone troopers lol). However, I agree with you in the fact that I prefer standard troopers from the major legions (i.e. 212th, 332nd, 327th, 104th, shock troopers, plain white, etc.) vs specialized troopers. That's what made set 75280 so great in getting three standard 501st troopers. The jet trooper and two battle droids were pretty much a bonus. Also the macrobinoculars are AWESOME, but I must say a little bit of printing would go a long way for improvement. The "blank" white gives an unfinished vibe like it just came off the mold machine on the factory floor.
3:24 they need new people in charge because it’s not fair that other themes like marvel D.C. and Harry Potter get super accurate details even Easter eggs but lego designers can’t be asked to fix their product for the better. Only the best is good enough supposedly 😢.
Yet another fantastic review! I personally love the new troopers! To finally get an official Lego Macro Bynoc is extremely nice! I really like the set!!
I have 17 of the 501st set from 2020, planning to get 3 more and then I will get 10 of the 2023 501st Battle Pack. So my 501st clone army grew from 6 troopers to 126 troopers.
For me I plan to pick up a number of these. I have about 30 of the 2020 501st legion sets and with this battle pack having more "specialized" I'm planning on making military style squads with my other 501st troopers. Maybe not the most ideal for traditional army building, but I'm still happy with it.
That clone that has the antenna placed in the wrong whole wasn’t a mistake, it’s false advertising on purpose! LEGO thinks they can cover up the horrible helmet design… it’s not funny, it’s disgraceful!
Well honestly i think this battle pack would still be good for army building like you could make a specialist line an officer line and heavy troopers line with like a main commander infront of them all
Did he just admit that these aren’t army build able Clones, he was disappointed and annoyed with the high holes in helmets after talking to designers about it, brushed off blatant false advertising on the box art with properly aligned accessories, show the plain Macrobinoculars next to customs that have prints, and try to justify cheep prints vs a fabric kama because theoretically it’s annoying for kids to put on? It’s so easy to put them on. This might be the most disappointed I’ve been in a review from you. What such a blatant example of going easy on a product to stay in the company’s good graces.
Lego coming out with all these sets we want is making really greedy lol. I want all different sets perfect for droid, clone and mandolorian army building let alone stormtroopers and rebels. I’ve literally made a list of the perfect sets for a revenge of the sith/clone wars wave. It has like 40 odd ideas.
I am torn on this set. I love getting variety of Clone troopers and I don't mind that they are specialised troopers. However I wish they had either printed the waist cape all the way around or used an actual cape. Also I wish they had dual molded the legs on the heavy troopers as that is accurate to how they look in battlefront 2. Lastly I wish they had printed a black line on the front of the macro binoculars as that is accurate. I hope they continue to give us Clone Trooper sets with different clone legions in.
I don't believe the officer antennae on the box is an error imo more like it was done on purpose. It was done to make it look like it's accurate when in reality it's not. Still a alright set with knockoff quality helmet design.
Honestly, I've been so spoiled by the amount of details on the minifigs4u figures that these are a pretty big disappointment. Especially Lego's choice to downgrade to printed waist capes rather than the cloth ones we've had for over a decade. Kinda of a slap in the face considering the price increase too, especially when the Utapau Troopers battle pack back in 2014 had 2 airborne troopers with cloth waist capes.
Very VERY nice set! Gonna pick up many of these:) But I'm not sure what this is based on...The tv show "clones wars" or battlefront II? Either way they are great!
I appreciate your honesty despite lego providing the set it’s nice. I like the battle pack because the majority of people can’t afford to buy a mass amount of battle packs, so just buying a few is fine. That being said it would be nice to get some different clone legions
This battle pack can be army built in conjunction with the 2020 501st army set. If you already bought 10 of those ones, than this new one would give those 30 regular 501st troopers some troops to fill out squads. At a 1 to 1 of each set that would be a squad of 3 assault, 2 heavy, 1 specialist, 1 officer, and 1 rocket trooper. To me this set will definitely be worth army building up to the amount of 2020 sets I got. Any more than a 1:1 ratio though throws it off.
I don't care, I am army building with these guys. The heavy and specialists are my favorites!! I see them a lot all over the battlefront 2 field, so I think these are absolutely worth building an army with. Also those accessories and helmet holes are too good to pass up.
I hate to be that guy but I. really glad they made these as someone who doesn't spend a couple grand on battle packs getting 1 or 2 of these to go along with my 4, 501st battle packs will look amazing on my clones vs separatists display. Cant wait to get a few
If you want a full lore accurate 501st Jet Platoon for MOCs then get 6 501st Legion sets and 4 of the new 501st battle packs. You have 8 - 9 clones in a squad 2 Heavy 4 Regs 1 Sniper / Marksman 1 Officer That way you have two fire teams in one squad with a command team. 2 regs and a heavy for one fireteam and 2 regs and a heavy for the other. Then you have the officer with the marksman in the rear.
Thanks for the review David. I like your idea on a Army building pack. A little of every Legion would be great. 212th with correct printing on helmet, wolf pack, regular PHASE 2, and what ever else. It would sellout fast and stay sold out for a while. But no more Yellow Commanders that double as Pilots. I don't like the printed waist skirts. I bought a bunch of cloth versions off Bricklink ready for this set. I also have put a bunch on the new snow trooper as well. Sucks Lego does not include those much any more....
I wish Lego made an actual army building set. Like a $50-$70 set with 10 to 15 normal clones and 1 or 2 higher ranking clones. Like a clone outpost or something. 1. It makes it easier to build an army 2. It doesn't take away from people who'd like sets like the lasr 501st battlepack which was hogged up and scalped
Didn’t Lego make like a million new molds for Vidyo which is a theme that everyone and their grandma knew would fail yet they can’t even be bothered to make a new accurate helmet mold? It’s not even a difficult change to make. They also can’t bother to make a new visor mold for a completely inaccurate like 15 year old visor piece? Just plain laziness/lack of care in my opinion. It’s also just stupidity to make another 501st pack which isn’t even army buildable when everybody has been asking for so many others legions. It makes no sense. Less money in their pockets I guess.
Honestly, I’m only buying this set for the heavy and specialist clones, kinda the cannon. The officer with the derpy rangefinder and almost nonexistent kama is unlikable for me.

@@viperson9818 I'm with you I think they rolled out all the expensive stuff (other themes too) at a terrible time.
Me personally I do not like the heavy trooper I just think the mold for the Viser is very outdated.
The "blank" white gives an unfinished vibe like it just came off the mold machine on the factory floor.
ive decided to slow down my lego starwars collection and go for black series figures
pretty disappointed that the gunners just get printed shoulder pads instead of some black shoulder cloth
The helmets are ugly. They are different from the box.
Could you make a giant Av-7 cannon out of four of them?
Can’t wait to order one of these.
I feel like this battle pack is good but not great
3:24 they need new people in charge because it’s not fair that other themes like marvel D.C. and Harry Potter get super accurate details even Easter eggs but lego designers can’t be asked to fix their product for the better.
It's a shame that the minifigures weren't swapped between the two sets.
It is $5 over priced, what a shame.
I’ll only get one to supplement the 7 copies of the previous 501st I got.
Gunna snitched this crazy bro F Lego
Well honestly i think this battle pack would still be good for army building like you could make a specialist line an officer line and heavy troopers line with like a main commander infront of them all
I agree with all your points. Sounds like they just prefer to be lazy over being accurate. Pretty pathetic
And I’m also tired of battlepacks having specialized troopers
LEGO Star Wars 2023 6+ 75345 501st Clone Troopers Battle Pack Set
$20 for a battle pack now. Glad I got to be a kid when prices weren't insane
I can't get over the Dobble hole
Well u still could technically army build if u take off all the accessories and change the arm colours. The only thing is the holes and minor prints
This is 100% the Autism speaking, but they’re called Macrobinoculars. Microbinoculars are something completely different.
212TH BATTLEPACK LEGO PLEASE
Yay another vid :)
This set sucks. Misprinted helmets, atrocious holes and accessory placements, oversized binoculars, no mini gun, no cloth kamas
My favorites it's Lego Star Wars 2023 501st Clone Troopers Battle Pack Set
Still a alright set with knockoff quality helmet design.
im gonna buy 15 of them at the most
Honestly, I've been so spoiled by the amount of details on the minifigs4u figures that these are a pretty big disappointment.
Another great vid
You say at the end that Lego is listening. Perhaps their hearing is selective.
Very VERY nice set! Gonna pick up many of these:) But I'm not sure what this is based on...The tv show "clones wars" or battlefront II? Either way they are great!
Crazy how out of touch lego are with clone wars details
I appreciate your honesty despite lego providing the set it’s nice. I like the battle pack because the majority of people can’t afford to buy a mass amount of battle packs, so just buying a few is fine. That being said it would be nice to get some different clone legions
I am so excited to finally get those macro binoculars and now since they added commander Cody maybe we can get a commander bly or 327 battle pack.
I will be buying gross amounts of this
Lego Love
Figures are decent, the cannon sucks.
$20! god i remember when they where $10
Wish the clone faces were different
I wish it would have been just plane normal phase 02 clones, maybe one commander and then three normal white phase 2 clones
Or like the 2007 battlecpack. 2 white plane clones, one shock trooper, one 327 Starkorps or Galactic Marines
Can't wait for these to go on sale for $12!!
Cool. I will miss the old battle pack
Lego is listening
Also Lego: here's a $500 Hulkbuster when everyone complained about Hulkbuster fatigue
I hate to be that guy but I. really glad they made these as someone who doesn't spend a couple grand on battle packs getting 1 or 2 of these to go along with my 4, 501st battle packs will look amazing on my clones vs separatists display. Cant wait to get a few
$20 is ridiculous
I’m very happy they included 2 macrobinoculars so you can add one to the 212th legion
Why didn’t they include just a standard clone trooper as the assault class a missed opportunity
A win is a win
Customizable clones is what I live for. This set is a dream come true for me.
I'm fairly happy with the new battle pack, however the 2020 version is better! Great review as always David
imma buy a 2nd and just remove helmet accessories since i couldnt get any of the 2020 battlepack
VERY much a nitpick but they're MACRObinoculars not micro. Micro refers to tiny things, macro refers to large things, or far things
AWESOME "LEGO Star Wars 501st Battle Pack REVIEW | Set 75345", DAVID HALL from SOLID BRIX STUDIOS!!! ;) :)
If you want a full lore accurate 501st Jet Platoon for MOCs then get 6 501st Legion sets and 4 of the new 501st battle packs.
You have 8 - 9 clones in a squad
2 Heavy
4 Regs
1 Sniper / Marksman
1 Officer
That way you have two fire teams in one squad with a command team. 2 regs and a heavy for one fireteam and 2 regs and a heavy for the other. Then you have the officer with the marksman in the rear.
Based set
I am still gonna buy a lot of these. JUICY MACROBINOCULARS
1. It makes it easier to build an army
2. It doesn't take away from people who'd like sets like the lasr 501st battlepack which was hogged up and scalped
Great set
Definitely need a wolfpack, galactic marine, or 327th legion clone battlepack. I love 501st and 212th, but I want to see some new options
Lego can you please make different clones in the future. Shock, 212th, gm, 326th, etc
