This movie has what a lot of movies are missing nowadays: CHARM
Don’t forget the bad acting of Tobey, Kristen and James. Also, it has the worse love interest. This and the sequel is carried by the villain (GG and Doc Ock). The writing isn’t that good and these movies aren’t that great as people think they are. My rating for Spidey’s movies as a filmmaking student:

Back in 2002 when the movie first came out, the scene where the people of New York stood together beside Spider-Man in the face of evil, aka against the Green Goblin was a very power scene, watching the people of New York stand strong, as this was only one year after the September 11th attacks. It was definitely heartwarming to see
Fun fact: the guy Spidey was wrestling in the wrestling scene is “Macho Man” Randy Savage, who is a real-life professional wrestler.
I think he got injured during filming. But still, great to see that the Macho Man had a part in the first ever Spider-Man movie.
The other fun cameo is Bruce "Ash of the Evil Dead" Campbell, appearing as different characters in all 3 films (wrestling announcer, theater concierge, restaurant maitre'd).
Everyone has a favorite Spider-Man, be it Toby, Andrew, or Tom. They all do a good job in the role. For me, Toby was the best Peter, even though they muted his scientific genius, and Andrew was the best Spider-Man, wisecracking while fighting the bad guys. On the other hand Andrew's Peter was way too smooth & confident.
Tom shows both sides well, and best of all is the youngest of the three. When he first played the role he was still in his teens.

Andrew`s Peter was smooth and confident?Did we watch the same films?He was socially awkward as fuck,constantly stuttering around Gwen,double-guessing himself all the fuckin` time and apologizing when he couldn`t control his new powers yet on the train.People stereotyped him just `cause he came right after Maguire,had spikey hair and skateboarded but guess what?1960`s era nerds and 2000s era nerds look different!Maguire tried to put a 1960s era nerd in a 2000s era which doubled the awkwardness for all the wrong reasons!

Rami does have a background in horror, thats why some elements of this movie are legit scary.
Definitely definitely watch the rest. Especially the second in the tobi Maguire trilogy.
#2 with Doc Ock was the best.
Tobey Maguire spent six months taking martial arts, weight training, and an intensive gymnastics programme in order to bulk up, look buff, and be able to match the lithe athleticism of Spider Man. That scene in the cafeteria where he catches all the food on the tray was done practically, took over 150 takes and some adhesive but they did it.
Nicholas Hammond played Spider-Man & Peter Parker in a TV series back in 1977 (til 1979)...That was the first Spider-Man as a live action hero.
Tobey Maguire did a fantastic job as the first big screen depiction of Spider-Man. It was very true to the comic book.
Technically you don't have to watch any of the Spider-Man movies before watching No Way Home. However it is a much more fulfilling experience if you do. Plus it's always nice having more content on the channel.

Agreed. Normally I'm allergic to the "ya gotta watch eight other things" crowd. In this case seeing the older movies first adds a lot of depth to No Way Home.
No way home was so desperate feeling. Taking Ramis villains and putting them in the mcu just felt wrong. That movie is so mid.
Seeing all the previous Spider-Man movies will be really helpful for once you watch No Way Home. There's a lot in the Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield movies that will prove to be extremely relevant and add much more meaning to your No Way Home viewing experience.
Spider Man 2 is one of my favorite movies of all time
It is definitely one of the uncommon sequels that improve on their predecessors.
YES!!! The Tobey Maguire Spider-Man trilogy and the two Andrew Garfield "Amazing Spider-Man" movies are a definite must watch before watching Tom Holland's 3rd Spider-Man "Spider-Man: No Way Home".
This is my favorite of the Tobey Maguire trilogy.

Spider Man is based on a comic book, which is why it's so fatuous.
I only caught a bit of ending on the Live premiere but that was great!🙌 this is my fav Spider-Man 🤌 Toby really put a lot of work into this role! It took him 156 takes to get the tray catch scene 😳
I remember finding a pirated copy of this movie at a car boot sale when I was like 5/6 years old. My parents bought it and we all went back that day and watched it. Can't wait for you to watch Spiderman 2.... It's one of the best superhero movies ever made and my personal favourite superhero movie of all time.

In a way you should have started with watching the older marvel movies like these before watching the MCU movies bcoz all of us were introduced to Spiderman from Tobey Maguire. He's the OG spiderman that not even Tom Holland has anything on. Either way, its still great to see your reaction and how you liked the movie. Tobey Maguire's Spiderman is the best along with Dafoe's Green goblin, this has to be the best origin story ever as it portrayed the changes Peter went through in the most accurate and realistic wat

I was about 15 years old when this movie came out in 2002 and now I'm 35 and to this day it's still a great Spider-Man movie

In the 20+ years since this film came out, a lot of the flaws have become more noticeable. It isn't perfect, especially when it comes to the dialogue. But it's the kind of film that needs to be judged for the time that it came out in. In 2002, Spider-Man was essential to the superhero genre, proving to Hollywood that there was an audience for this. Plus, we had never seen anything like this before. The idea of a live-action Spider-Man movie was unheard of. While X-Men and Blade kept the genre alive, it was Spider-Man that pushed it forward. And despite its age, this movie still holds up very well.

The allure of Spider-man is that, though he is a superhero, Peter Parker is a good kid who is a struggling teenager wracked with guilt over his uncle Ben's death.
He's seen as the nerdy oddball and is, after high school, a low commission-only paid photographer for a gossip rag paper run by the Spider-man hating J. Jonah Jamison.
Stan Lee said he designed the Spider-man costume with a mask that covered the whole face so any kid could imagine being him...I know I did!

I agree that Tom Holland is the best Spider Man, but we need to break shit down. For a long time super hero movies were treated as silly, with some exceptions like superman and Batman. It wasn't untill Blade, X-Men, and this Spiderman movie that other Superhero stories were treated with the same respect, and because of those three movies we got the superhero movie renaissance.

Great movie. You should also see Darkman 1990 an original superhero movie Sam Ramie made before he got the rights to do the Spiderman movies with a young Liam Nisson. You should also see the Christoper Reeve Superman movies at least 1 (The first modern superhero movie) and 2

It was the Spider Bite that gave Peter his powers. But it was Uncle Ben’s death that Spider Man, the hero Spider Man, was born. No matter what it costs him, Peter always makes the choice to help others. And that is why the character has endured for all these years. And the director actually got his start in film by making a string of popular Horror movies called “The Evil Dead”. So you weren’t too far off when you said you felt you were watching a horror movie. And that upside down kiss won the MTV Movie Award for best kiss!
I've told you before I love your wrinkly hair. Today it's just Hermione Granger hair. See, it wasn't as bad as you thought it would be. Toby brought me back to Spiderman and he convinced you there can be someone else. My theory on MJ is that the spider bite changing Peter's pheromonal scent and that's what changed her opinion about him. Of course it could just be that she really just picked up on his attitude change and that causes her to flip flop. Even after he says no to her at the funeral that kiss wasn't a I'm just a friend kiss. She's on to cyphering it out. Girls are always better at this stuff than guys. Great watch Liala. U must watch The Dark Knight Trilogy after this trilogy cause they were two of the biggest superhero trilogies of the 2000s.

Each spiderman offers something unique. This one was the first great spiderman. Then Andrew Garfield was the "cool spiderman" with great hair. Then Tom Holland is back to the more nerdy but awesome.
I read "Spiderman" comics for years growing up in the 60s and loved them. To me, no movie has ever measured up, but this one isn't too bad.
By the way, webbing wasn't an inherent power. It was something he invented. Also, Mary Jane Watson was hardly his first girlfriend. That would be Gwen Stacy.
The Andrew Garfield & Tom Holland Spider-Men (Spider-Mans?) had mechanical web shooters. This movie didn't really show Peter's scientific genius. I'm guessing they wanted to avoid questions of how he built the shooters, and where the web formula comes from.
Don't worry; Gwen shows up in later movies. :)

This Spider-Man was a mix of your childhood and mine. I was born in 95 so when I was a kid I mostly knew the 90s cartoon Spider-Man and then when I got older I started reading the comics. This to me was probably the best version.They did their best trying to stay true to the comics and the cartoon

They won’t care that much about accuracy knowing a kid like me never remembered that Spider-Man never had organic webs. I didn’t even remember that they showed that in the cartoon. I was just happy as hell that Spider-Man was gonna be on the movie screen. Just like i was for blade and X-men
