- John performs at Farm Aid IV on April 7, 1990 at the Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis. Heavyweight champion James "Buster" Douglas has the honor of introducing John. The set list is as follows:

I met Kenny Arnoff the day after this at union station
Always like Mellencamp. BUT, one question NOBODY has been able to answer is this. After all these years of Farm Aid, and still the American farmer is fighting for survival from season to season, where has all that money gone? Can anyone name one single farmer, anywhere in 'Merica, who has received financial support from Farm Aid?
Watching this makes me appreciate Mr Mellencamp even more now than ever. He’s one cool dude. And can dance Walks the walk ...

This was a terrific performance!! I probably watched it back then as I am a Huge Mellencamp fan. He looked and sounded so good at this time. He's always had a good dancing groove and I just love it! ♥️JM!

@@OMARMINOUCHE my buddy Kenny is a rock historian having worked with many bands, that show was at the Omni in Atlanta, one great night, recently saw him again at the fox, he pulls a girl on the stage and later I meet her at a party, funny story you just had to be there lol

Whatever happened to Larry? Did John let him go or did he quit to do other things? He just disappeared it seems. The Scarecrow and Lonesome Jubilee albums were by far his best IMO. After that he had a couple decent records but never came close to replicating the sound and song quality of those two. I still kept buying all his stuff until about 10 years ago. His voice is so rough now and he does way too many folk type songs.

@@Spaceman1968, have heard that and John probably wouldn't disagree, but when we are young we strive for perfection, it's all a means to an end, John is much better and more than he even gives himself credit for

I was too! I drove down from Fort Wayne with my 3 friends. When Elton John sang Candle in the wind for Ryan White, we lost it... Ryan passed away that night.
Everyone was crying when Elton said this one’s for Ryan

Does anyone see a Michael Huchence resemblance, looks and sound? Pure confidence and he owned the stage.
Perhaps John Mellencamp was an inspiration for Michael Hutchance and he modeled himself after John. I agree there are similarities in appearance, totally different music style.
I think John pre - dated INXS by several years.

To raise money to help farmers save their land, continue to farm and to bring food to the people.
