  • Today's video is a tribute for one of the bodybuilding greats, John Meadows! John was one of the first people I ever stumbled upon when starting my fitness journey and really motivated/inspired me to go to the gym.
I wanted to honour him by making a video dedicated to everything John Meadows. I eat like him, train like him and share with you a little more about him beyond the workout videos we see.
RIP Mountain Dog. You will be missed.
Hope you enjoy the video! Thank YOU for watching!

Just think what he could've done with his life if he dedicated it to helping others instead of just trying to look a certain way. He definitely wasted his life.

The more the days go by since John Meadows passed, the more I realize how much of an influence he had on me. I started eating cream of rice/wheat after watching his concoction video. The Meadow's Row is a staple back exercise. He made a video on how to engage your chest and lats for better activation and I still use those warm up tips. His advice was second to none and I really appreciated his knowledge and kind demeanor.
This was an awesome tribute and I'm sure he would have loved it.

So happy to see this video pop up in my feed. I always went to John’s channel whenever I wanted more insight into training a body part, nutrition or anything else related to fitness really. He shared a gold mine of knowledge for free, way more information on his channel than most other people are trying to sell you for money.
Such a quality human being that appreciated life to the fullest, loved his family, loved what he did and wanted to help people. Rest easy Mountain Dog

I was fortunate enough to meet John when he was 18 at the Mr. Cincinnati in 1990. We stayed in touched over the years and in the late 90;s went to Columbus and trained back for a summer... brutal . We got together this February at a newer favorite SUSHI place. Thank you for this video.

Hi Will, thank you for this wonderful video on a great human being, who meant a lot to many people. Just two fun facts from a John Meadows fan, that you might like:
John actually was a huge lover of donuts, he even wore some of his famous gimmicky t-shirts proclaiming his love of them. He did like pancakes even more though. He was called Mountaindog because he loved Bernese Mountain dogs, which he had as a child, and when he needed an internet handle on the early online bodybuilding forums like T-Nation, he chose the name Mountaindog1. Over time his training philosophy became associated with this name and it just stuck.
Once again, thank you for the video Will. I encourage anyone to watch John's old videos, there's tons of nuggets of wisdom in there, not just about training and diet, but on life as well.

As a competitive swimmer, I really would not recommend swimming with goggles that cover your nose like that, because the secret to good breathing technique in swimming is continuous breathing. That basically means slowly letting air out through your nose when underwater, breath and then repeat (well theres variations to that breathing pattern but the same basic idea applies, the one thing you really don't want to do is hold your breath).
