    Germans are the best, but I have a 1000 (Korean) in one of my soloists, and it works a flawlessly as my German. I swapped the zinc claw for a steel claw, and the sustain block for a brass block. Going on 4 years, aggressive bar work, sharp knife edges, returns to pitch, sits level with the body. Mi e still flutters fine, fine tuners just need time to break in.
    I also confirmed with Floyd Rose that other than German hardened steel, the 1000 is the built to the same specs/dimensions.

      Your lucky. I had 1000 fr. It works for few hours. Then never stay in tune. Is a piece of shit and I will never buy Korean made Floyd Rose . I replace with original Floyd Rose. Now my guitar sounds awesome. and I’m Korean.

    I've always agreed that a MIG floyd is better. Every single time I've played a Korean floyd, the fine tuners always had crappy machine work, too tight and rough. I never had that problem on a German one.
    The bars have enormous play in them in the koreans. That's a no no for me too. There more, but you already know. The days in the 80's when everything came with German floyds. Even the import Kramers had them. Danm

      Yup I hunt the old German floyds and schaller woodscrew posts or the schaller allen head collar posts. I wont use anything else anyone. Gotoh is decent enough but I prefer the old shit

    I have a Korean 1000 FR and a German FR. The 1000 is 80-90% as good. The fine tuners turn a little smoother on the German FR. It flutters way better. And the sound is a bit thicker. They both stay in tune identically

    Why can't they put Gotoh GE1996T instead of those Korean Floyd Rose trems?
    The GE1996T costs lesser than those Korean Floyd Rose trems but its quality is as good as the German Floyd Rose trem.

    • @cappy781
      @cappy781  4 роки тому

      Yup Your right. If i cant find a old 1980s floyd German I use the gotoh 1996t. The gotoh is killer trem. Also People swear the korean is the same spec as the real German and yes they are but.....the machine tolerances are horrible usually I have to shim the saddles to get the radius correct and the hardware is poor. Fine tuners suck very stiff the trem bar collar is horrible has tons of play in the shaft. I been building guitars for years and if the korean floyds were good I would use them

    • @TheNocturnalEvil
      @TheNocturnalEvil 4 роки тому +1

      @@cappy781 The specs of the Korean made Floyd Rose trems are the same as the German ones but their quality of steel used for making them is poor. Their knife edge wears out pretty fast and they use cheaper quality zinc alloy sustain blocks. I had them on one of my guitar and had to replace them with the Schaller Lockmeister after their knife edge wore out.
      You can still buy the German made Original Floyd Rose from official Floyd Rose store, but their prices have become exorbitant. It is a lot more sensible to buy an used 80's Floyd Rose these days then to blow cash on a shiny new German made Original Floyd Rose. I miss the good old days when the German made Original Floyd Rose trems came standard on Kramer and Charvel guitars.
      Speaking of the Schaller Lockmeister, it's a ruggedized Original Floyd Rose trem and is actually better than the Original Floyd Rose. The baseplate on the Lockmeister is 1 mm thicker than then Original Floyd Rose baseplate. Due to its thicker baseplate the Schaller Lockmeister is 1.06 ounces heavier than the Original Floyd Rose. Its thicker baseplate enhances its durability, stability and sustain.
      Schaller has also welded the trem arm mounting system with the baseplate on the Lockmeister. This solves the age old problem of the trem arm getting loose on Floyd Rose style trems.
      The best thing about Lockmeister is that all the Original Floyd Rose upgradable parts like the fat tungsten sustain block, hollow points, etc are fully compatible with it.

      GE1996T is a no brainer. EXCELLENT trems! Come stock with brass blocks and large locking studs. Fine tuners are silky smooth. Push in bar design has zero play. Flutters are effortless. Theres a reason they come stock on Suhr guitars. Gotoh also make all the high end Ibanez trems.

    Totally...If you look close, the German pivot cuts are more circular. Les friction on the post. Toss on a tungsten carbide sustain block.....good night! Buttery fluttery.

    How about the floyd 1500's series (hot-road, not the special hot-road) which came with the top line schecters ?
    i've test both and for me its seems very imprecive piece. the screws are better this "standards" korean and etc.
    Maybe they put a line above the korean's standards ?

    Cappy, Thanks for giving us the straight dope on the German Floyd Rose.
    AND walking through about the softer pivot pins and the gritty fine tuners on the Korean FR
    It’s the same with auto parts, contractors, doctors, etc. Buyer beware
    A few years ago I was going to buy a EVH Striped series or a new San Dimas slime green ($899, not incl tax)
    In my 2015 Sweerwater catalogue everything sounds great and wonderful
    They said they had #2000 Floyd R in them, not the #1000, which is made in Germany.
    Glad you pointed out the vintage FR has hardened steel
    So I bought a Ibanez RG320 ( Korean) made around 2001 Lo trs trem 2, and that thing stays in tune. I blocked it so it only divebombs though
    I’d like to hear more of you playing live.
    So you can blast everybody’s ears

      You can always buy a new German made Floyd Rose from the official Floyd Rose website to replace those Korean made Floyd Rose trems.
      Your assumption that 1000 series Floyd Rose trems are German made isn't right. All Floyd Rose trems that have their product code ranging from 1000 to 5000 are made in Korea.
      Real German made Original Floyd Rose trem uses the product code range FRT100 to FRT800. The low profile German made Original Floyd Rose Pro uses the product code range FRTP100 to FRTP500.

    • @TheNocturnalEvil
      @TheNocturnalEvil 4 роки тому

      @Brian Robinson Nowadays the Floyd Rose Pro FRTP 100 to FRTP 500 series trems are made by Schaller in Germany.
      I'm not sure about how they compare to the early Pro units made by Kahler, but they're far better than the crappy Korean made Floyd Rose Pro 1000 series trems (FRTP 1000 to FRTP 11000).

      Yes they work good. They eventually wear out on the knife edges and tend to have clunky fine tuners. The German floyds are my favorites. Damm things just dont wear out man. My second favorite trem is the gotoh 1996t. Very good bridge

    The old MIG Floyds will always be the best ones because of the metals used. Unfortunately there are others that feel this
    way so the MIG og floyds are not easy to get.That is when i will go Gotoh 1996t or Schaller lockmeister
    when i cannot get the old school Floyd from the 80's. I prefer the 1996t and lockmeister over the FR 1000, FR 1500.
