I always loved to sing but I had a very soft voice and didn't know that you could train your voice like other instruments. I have practiced with your videos almost every day of 2024 and I am in disbelief of how much my voice has gotten stronger and better. Thank you so much, love singing along! I wish you a good upcoming year filed with loads of blessings and expect more good stuff 🙏✨🤍
2025 goal is strengthen my voice and stamina with daily practice. I have a tension obstacle I'm working through by making sure I'm warmed up before singing, and trying to use more breath support and less squeezing in the neck. Your videos help a TON!
Very good advice Jeff ! My husband is trying to teach me guitar and it’s definitely an endeavor since I’m left handed. Daily practice is so important with any instrument. It’s important for me to keep my high notes fresh though. I’m just grateful I can go as high as I can now. You always have great advice. Happy New Year 🎆 xxx Ps Too many people are lazy about practicing and it shows. The proof is in the performance.
Thank you for this five tips Jeff, you've been always my favorite vocal coach on youtube, your videos always helping and making me grow as a singer! Have a very beautiful new year.
This was an awesome video. I actually had so much fun doing a livestream I just love singing if I know the lyrics because it doesn’t sound as good. I gotta keep practicing been slacking a little. Happy New Year Jeff
Good advice. My favorites: daily practice and it'!s not just high notes. In pretty much everything I've studied, when I hit a wall, someone would advise me to just keep practicing. Sometimes it takes time at a plateau before one advances. And Richard Tucker, the famous opera tenor, once told me, "High notes, of course, are a tenor's bankbook. But show me a man who can sing a line with good tone, legato and phrasing. That's what I call a singer." Happy New Year and see you again in 2025. Thanks for 2024!
This video came at the perfect time. What resonated with me was the term “play”. That’s it. Simple and back to basics. This is what it should boil down to. I have reached many breakthrough moments thanks to your channel and I cannot thank you enough. I’ll say, I consider us athletes in a way. And with that being said, I have a question for you and I would be eternally grateful if you’d answer. An Olympian spends a lot of time training their particular practice, and they reach a point where it’s now time to compete, and they are up next. Not everyone pursues music in a competitive environment; however, is there any advice you could offer any of us who are about to step into a competition environment? How can we better manage our training, anxiety, all these wonderful tips you’ve mentioned, and executing them now that we are up at our division? All while staying true to why we even perform in the first place? Much love and wishing you a happy new year!
Thank you Jeff, over and over again for your kind words! I wish you a Very Happy New Year with lots of exciting adventures in the world of music! I saved up your singing tips, and if I may ask you for an extra tip: what do you suggest for me, as being a singer turning to 66, having a band, to keep my voice "in good shape" for years? I have sometimes a bad feeling about my age, thinking: how long may I stand on stage? (I hope you understand my message, as I am not a native speaker)
As a bass baritone, who sometimes hits A1 to F#5, can you do a combo of the delineation, ornamentation, chromatic and balancing warmup? Just to speed things up instaead of having to do like 5 of your videos every day? I'd really appreciate it. Also other modes...
Hi Jeff! I just stumbled across your channel because I decided I want to commit to building my voice in 2025. As a 40+ year old male whose voice cracks and is not strong…what or where would you recommend I begin this journey?
I'm doing a series of fundamentals that started in January. That's where I would begin: ua-cam.com/play/PL2mQP7sE6PHiF53RT35yz8rb6a4t3JSr6.html&si=Vubeg5RP3nmndoqF
@@JeffRolkathank you! I have about an hour and a half 5 days a week sitting in traffic so I’ve been listening to your videos and practicing. Realistically, how long do u think I would need to stay consistent in order to see progress?
Love it! These are very helpful tips. I love the 'operative verb' reminder.

A daily vocalization practice is your best bet to stay healthy and vocally vibrant! Keep at it!
As a bass baritone, who sometimes hits A1 to F#5, can you do a combo of the delineation, ornamentation, chromatic and balancing warmup? Just to speed things up instaead of having to do like 5 of your videos every day? I'd really appreciate it. Also other modes...
Also with appogio breath management. The little puff of air when you go higher so as not to stress.
What’s the best time to practice and for how long?
The best time and duration is whatever you can sustain every day. You set the schedule and duration. Adjust as necessary to serve your goals.
@ thank you for your hard work! I have improved my karaoke singing because of you! Have a very happy, healthy and successful New Year 2025!🎉
