There in lies Bishop's message... a lack of cooperation with Grace. He's 100 percent correct.. but nothing changes if nothing changes...same story different day. I would say to the Bishop as a faithful, spiritual, reflective practicing Catholic of 57 years, what the Church fails to understand is WHY people stay away...there are so many distractions these days purposely put in place to disconnect us from our shared humanity. Two things need to happen ...1) the world needs to start leaning into difficult conversations and find ways to connect to humanity vs screaming at each other 2) spiritual leaders, especially those in the Catholic faith, have to ask themselves WHY are people staying away, what are we doing or not doing to keep the faithful away... and then ACT. Which means tough conversations and decisions need to be made. Until then the faithful will continue to stay away because of the broken trust. How we can expect people to have tough conversations and lean in, if our leaders fail at every ethical turn? There are still wonderful vineyards in God's great earth. But they are rapidly becoming stinking grapes because people are failing to start with themselves. What are we all doing to cultivate more vineyards vs screaming and yelling at someone we don't agree with? Lean into that conversation...call people in.
What a wonderful sermon! I often bring my wheelchair bound Dad to mass on Sundays. He slept badly last night so has decided to watch mass online. I was tempted to do likewise until I heard your sermon! I was going to refuse/ deny God's gift of mass and receiving Jesus in the Eucharist until I listened to your words. I want to remain in the percentage of Catholics who appreciate the gift of mass & the sacrament of mass. Thank you! I'll get myself ready now to co-operate with tending to God's vineyard!
As Bishop Barron said. A great number of people don’t practice their faith or believe. All one can do is pray for their conversion, before it’s to late.
@@TrixRN I agree! Refusing to believe in God is big problem and I hope this changes soon. It's great to see you here too! Catechism in a Year by Fr. Mike is such a big help in understanding such issues! God bless
Now, more than ever, and although I come to Mass every Sunday, I feel the need to respond and "co-operate" more to that grace. Thank you, Bp. Barron. God bless us all.🙏🌷
The imagery used about clearing rocks and stones from a field: reminded me of clearing boulder sized rocks, much smaller rocks, pebbles, and even arrow heads from the earth before my Grandfather could plough the ground for his wheat fields, barley fields, hay, corn, and sunflowers. We ate a lot of sunflower seeds! ❤😂😊. What a blessing we kids had to have George and Francis Zenk to raise us and teach us about the Sacraments! (Thanks, Grandpa and Grandma.) In Jesus' name, Amen.
@franceszante5021 I know it says pray for your enemies. I pray the people realize that Hamas is just one man in power. I condemn any Palestinian engaging in this war. Yes, I feel bad for the children getting hurt, but they massacred children in Israel on a Holy day. So it's time you choose carefully. Either you want prayers for evil to be overthrown (hamas), or you sympathize with this terrorist. Do not comment on my post if you are disguising yourself as a wolf in sheep's clothing. I command all of you to show yourselves, you snakes preying on the innocent. Calling yourselves innocent, hiding behind your offsprings shielding your own children to advance your propaganda.
Their are also people who were Catholic who go to other Churches and also some who converted to other religions altogether. We should pray that they all return to the Holy Mother Church!
@@rachaelstanley6469Because the Catholic Church is the Ark of Salvation, the only divine religion in existence given to human beings directly by their creator for the purpose of knowing, loving and serving Him so we can live rightly ordered lives and be at peace within oursleves and with those around us and return to Him at death. All other religions are created either by men groping around in the dark trying to find God themelves or are corrupted and mutilated forms of the true religion. If the Creator and Source of all that is, has been and ever will be has communicated directly with us, and all the evidence indicates He has, then to ignore the path that He has set before us or to refuse to remain on it, is the ultimate betrayal and violation of purpose. That's why I'm Catholic and why you should be too.
Most of the people who have stayed away from the church are people who have created a religion of their own. It is called a religion of convenience. This enables them to be their own gods to themselves & doing what is benefitting to themselves. A selfish culture to appease their own desires. Lord have mercy. We pray for them & also for ourselves. So help us dear Lord.
We, who are attending the holy mass, let the fruits of that show through the way we live. Let's walk the talk. So we can walk them back home. Thank you Bushop Barron for all the work that you do. You leave me wiser every time I hear you. God bless.

Hello Bishop Barron, As a Saturday evening lector I would love to be able to hear your Sunday Sermon on Friday night . It would help me better prepare for my proclamation for the first two readings.
I appreciate and view the majority of the Sunday sermons by Bishop Barron on UA-cam. I read the DAILY Catholic readings almost every day in the mornings. Then after mass, they are not really cooperating with the grace of God; they love money, power, themselves, etc. These same weekly mass attendees will not “Will the Good of the Other”, so what is more important then?! In my opinion, not believing in the real presence of God/Christ in the Eucharist is NOT a lack of cooperation with the grace of God; it is a lack of cooperation with the Catholic church. Thanks for listening. 🙂

This is a cry for guidance and I get judgement. My point has been proven. I see no comment from the Word on Fire trying to reach to me.....
First of all, it's nice to see that we're going back to the not-too-distant past, given Bishop Barron's reference to how he's just been in Santa Barbara not that long and has the vineyard visual in mind. It's also masterful how he refers to "spiritual physics" to describe what happens when we don't cooperate with God's grace: Indeed, God doesn't get mad, but rather, we remove ourselves from all that we can gain from His Divine Life. Furthermore, Bishop Barron is right to indicate that this parable in Isaiah 5 is not something from the distant past of Israel, but rather something we should be aware of now, calling us to constantly strive to remain in God's grace.
Dear Bishop Barron; peace be with your spirit always. I wish my priests would preach like Bishop Barron. I would like to mention that a huge reason why the Church attendance and belief has eroded and failed to produce good grapes is because the protective walls of our vineyeard the Church, has deliberately been removed by modernist-leaning clergy and complicit laity in addition to the rapid secularization of the outside world. We have removed the towers to guard against heretics. If I was not told to go to confession first before receiving the Holy Eucharist, then I would be by default, not think of it as the real deal. If we say "I'll pray for this and pray for that" without doing anything concrete and helpful in the real world, then we are guilty of the sin of omission. I am tired of being told being "good" is sufficient. We don't need softies nor do we need warm and fuzzies. We need a bold, zealous and a masculine spirit in the Church that is not afraid to say wrong is wrong right in your face! Some Protestants and Muslims are better in doing that than Catholics are. I'm sorry, your excellency, I would never agree to your agnosticism on the salvation for all issue. We do not need ambiguity. The Lord Jesus said, broad is the gate to destruction and many go there and narrow is the gate the leads to life and few go there. Even I wish it wasn't there but it is. There is much more evil in the hearts of men, including clergy than you are willing to admit that led the Church where it is right now. May God help us and keep us.

People have left the Church in droves because they don't have a relationship with God. Most RE programs just don't teach the love of God. They teach commandments, sacraments, maybe prayers. And prayers should already be taught in the home. Catholics are finally coming around to reading the Bible and studying the Word of God - that has brought many a person back to God.
Let's pray for our brothers and sisters in Israel and Palestine. ✌️
