My biggest disappointment playing FF8 back in the day was realizing in disc 3 that Edea wasn't going to be a permanent party member. I wanted to keep her around so bad!
Me, too. Doing my first playthrough, which was done completely blind and unspoiled, it totally blew my mind when Edea herself joined my party and I was so excited to see what she could do -- and then my disappointment was immeasurable when she left like 10 minutes later. 😑
Yeah… One of the strangest ending in a game.. One of them.. If only Squall could have thought of a way to stop/ break the chain 😅 But then… 🫣 Yeah… Weird ending… Wonder if it can take the cake- for strangest ending among the final fantasy franchise, as I have only played a few (all of them BEFORE FFX).
I’ve played and beat this game so many times over the years and never once played Chocobo World. I hope they eventually do a remastered version like they did with 7

Tip for Ultimicia’s final form, her first four moves are scripted from my experience. Her first two turns are both spent using Hell’s Judgement, the third drawing Apocalypse, and then the fourth casting it. No idea what she does after that, seeing as I always just hit her with limit breaks until she dies. A bit of a shame considering how good “The Extreme” is.
Nice to see this challenge popping up after we talked about it, was fun to watch. I feel tho the one I had in mind is even harder if you limit her to only to use the spells she has as a boss fight for example.
Love the idea of Edea being pissed this person is Pretending to be her so goes to galbadia to beat her ass then goes after ultimecia for daring to pretend to be her.
@@Primalliquid92I've never played FF8...it's actually the only mainline game I need to play outside of 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 16. I played 1-7 than skipped to 10 and 15.
i still agree with dahp whens that ff10 bamahut only ? also there is ways to get quake and tornado magic as early as disk 1 without the cards. although quake is a pain to do so. and both you just need mug

If I remember right light pillar is physical so protect halves it? And, yes, defend is an option for the same reason. To be honest defend and counter are a pretty OP combo (plus cover if you are not doing a solo challenge)
As for why king Tonberry died so fast that’s due to level scaling enemies. Many bosses have their level = your average level + or - 3. This means a boss like Elvaret can have 2700 HP or over 3500 hp. When you battle it during the SEED exam
Hey Primal, did you know you can lose the Diablos fight? Now there is the normal way, he can gravity you and hit you physically. But, if you're dumb and decided to take him on at Lv 100, if memory serves(it has been many years) his special move will do 100% damage cause of how it works. That's what you get if on a play through that you just wanted to use a gameshark after many times playing through to spice things up. It just made the game harder in the end lol
You can beat FF8 with any character solo majority of a character strength is due to the junctioned GM and what abilities and paired magic that enhance your stats.
I distinctly remember playing this as a kid and getting stuck on the missile base fight more than once and no matter how much I leveled up not being able to get past and having to start over. Now clearly at the time I didn’t know the monsters were leveling up with me and I made it near impossible but also I think I was using the junction very poorly. So maybe a summons ok but no junction magic+ max level run?
5:50 The *one* spot in the game I *always* use an item. Got my first Game over against this dude. Accidentally used a potion on him instead of Squall (causing Squall to die) and did a double take at the damage dealt. Tossed one of my two Phoenix downs at Squall, and my *high potions* at the boss 😂 Didn't realize till my 3rd playthrough he goes down to Phoenix Down 😅
Heck with that 😅 I was screaming with happiness the first time I beat her. I was in 6th grade.. people at school didn't believe me. So I had to beat it at two different people homes 😂 God we was small
Any shot you would make a video on how to mod Edea (and others) into the party? I tried this with a Save editor and had major issues. Any help would be appreciated, and thanks for the awesome videos over the years!

@@onlineperson1144 I can get that. It's one of my favorites from the soundtrack, and I enjoy the silliness of it being used for solo runs, so I haven't burned out on it yet
That was basically his conclusion at the end. Junction makes it possible to solo this game with any of the cast and it's quite easy regardless of who you pick.
… I hate how in the game, the period you get to use Edea is so brief… Almost non existent… She’s the coolest character and has the coolest design! Such an awesome villain character… Who turns out to be a possessed hero… 🧐 Can never really get a chance to enjoy her in the game… Leaves me feeling cheated.

@@SeventhheavenDK yeah same point, despite claiming to no longer be a sorceress, she continues to use magic in everything she does, her basic attack is magic, her outfit is magic, even her movments are magic. She's so blatantly still a sorceress and just lieing.

No mod bro. He hacked the game. He did it all on the fly 😮😒 I wish there was a mod. The only game play mods I found was to make the game harder. Well, there's (the name of the red space ship you get on disc 3) it adds new side quests & rebalance everything. Some new stuff is there. Google it the name of that ship for final fantasy 8 mods
Just one to note incase you dont already know, but you can just use a pheonix down on fake president as soon as he transforms and he dies straight away 😂
Is "X" possible in FF8? Same answer to the question:"Is ff8 a hard game?" The answer is "do you understand the junction system?" If yes, then yes. If no, then probably no.
Ff8 is one of my worst games in the ff franchise one of the inly games I’ve only completed once as I didn’t enjoy it but I love ur videos so always a good watch
Why did you say Ice Strike was the worst? That limit break is kick ass. I remembered not even junctioning anything to her and just using Ice Strike and thinking it was OP AF.

Something to the effect of "Always level 100, no refine skills" would be an interesting challenge to torture you with
would pretty much pan out like this one, simply run from all fights as bosses are level capped for the most part

There is software you can run along with epsxe to mod the memory card saves. I used to do this years ago to use Seifer and squall duo runs
