That pinky toe rub is no joke. I remember when I first got these a few years back when they retro I only wore them for casual wear, and after a good while my pinky toe would just be hurting. Even though I really, really love these shoes just because I remember that pain from the pinky toe I will not be getting them .
The olives are such a classic fall/winter shoe for those cold walks to the bus stop back in grade school! Cant mess with the potato sack birks, I remember tween girls would wear them back in elementary school with their limited too shirts and Lisa Frank notebooks under their arms, sorry can’t convince me there Chris 😂
I remember seeing these olive 9s in retail stores in '93. Early Fall of 2002, a local sporting goods store I've shopped at since '95, had a large week long going out of business tent sale in their parking lot. I stopped by one day, and they had the olive 9s on a steep discounted sale for $65. I passed because it wasn't my type of colorway. I went back 2 days later, and they were still sitting. When I saw they were coming back this year, I was thinking about that tent sale and wondered if they sold all of those pairs or returned them back to Nike. This was also the same sporting goods store where I bought my black toe AJ14 for $149.99. I miss those retail prices.
When I was a kid, I used to think the Jumpman on the globe meant he was the greatest in the world. Still true, but I like knowing the actual history behind the design now lol.

The Air Jordan IX 9 model is one of favorite Air Jordan shoes and a bit underrated. To me, the 9's will always be "the first retirement" shoes. I still remember that Nike commercial with Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley which featured the black and white 9. I still have my original AJ IX "olive" pair. DS. I am hoping to pick up at least one pair of these. Hopefully two. And patiently awaiting for a proper retro of the Air Jordan IX 9 "charcoal" model. As for as I know, there has only been ONE retro of that shoe.
I remember these came out in 94 when I was in the 8th grade. To my memory only one guy I knew had them. His name was Adonté Cherry aka Tuna. He had these and the Shadaw 9s. I also remember seeing them on a kid in a Black 90s sitcom but I can’t remember the name of the show. Either way I just coped them for the first time ever and they are a perfect true to size fit for me. I feared they’d fit tight but Nike/Jordan brand has fixed the sizing issue thus far.

I initially wasn’t going to pick these up, but I ran into them at my Nike outlet and got them just $107 and I am so glad I did. I love this colorway on foot so much. It is just speaking to me right now for some reason.
Back in the days, I bought a pair of retro 2002 customized (on Ebay) where the olive nubuck was died black. It was clean, looked like an all black Jordan 9 with hits of red on the globe, jumpman and tongue area.
I’m glad that they finally fixed the job man on the left shoe facing the toll, but that is one of my biggest pet peeves for the nines and for the 11s when the jump was facing the wrong way, it would piss me off to the point where I would not buy that shoe for that reason

So happy to see that these are back to true form…..i scanned the Jo pans immediately and felt relief. Lol. The olives were my favorite…..and I owned and played in an original pair back in the day…..I also had the matching cap! As for footwear that used to annoy me….that’ll be the AJ 15. These days…I don’t care anymore. However for argument’s sake, for current stuff, it might fall under a collab sneaker or any Yeezy shoe, especially the two Nike ones. Still think they are not as amazing as everyone claims them to be. 🤷🏽♂️
Copped these in 2012 off of someone worn, but these were such a grail to me. Recently started to chip and wear away. Actually released half of my collection to make space/let go and take a break from sneakers. I had to get these again for the younger me who always wanted a Deadstock pair, can’t wait for them to come in. Such a nice review and new knowledge of them
Not about the 9s but I kinda like the velvet Jordan 11 breds. Just cause it’s an OG colorway doesn’t mean a different rendition of the shoe isn’t good 🤷🏾
When these first came out they were so disliked that certain stores were dyeing the brown black and selling them at an inflated price. They looked awesome in all black with the red 23

There isn’t any shoe that makes me angry, but I do get angry when people say panda dunks are the worst shoe ever. No they are not!!! It’s such a tired and overplayed “hot take” and everyone who says it are sheep. It’s a clean simple colorway and by no means the worst shoe of all time

Jordan brand needs to bring the embroidered number 23 on the side of Jordan 5 shoes Chris, those were the originals for me. Or spike Lee head embroidered on Jordan 4s. Correct me if I’m wrong.
I think the sizing tip is 1/2 size up I doubled up on black toe 14s no problem, these Nike didn’t want to accept mine or my buddies payment neither one of ours. Luckily I was able to go get my 11 1/2 from Snipes and I have a second pair that’s at 11 and I tried them on and they definitely I was smart enough to size up in both pair of powders because OG color weighs then if they go on sale, I could take them back and get the lower of the prices. But i recommend 1/2 size up it’s not the length of the shoe it’s the top part where whether you have a wide foot or not it doesn’t matter it pinches the top of your foot. If you’re not roomy enough in the width, it’s a narrow shoe.. I don’t know why that eight and tens are all wide shoes, wide foot friendly.
The black and white og 9 is one of the best Jordans made looks wise. I cant stand the colors of the olives but since it has decent leather for a 9 i think I'm gonna get a pair just in case the next time the black and white pair has the typical crappy leather
The soles on my Olive 9 daily finally came apart 3 months ago so this is a must have release for me. TY for talking about the Nylon inner part that scrapes against the Pinky toe. You either had to wear thicker socks or put a felt strip on that part
I picked up a pair of these. They came pre-creased. Thanks nike! 😅 surprisingly comfortable though. My other 9s are a couple of years old and less comfortable. Might be a difference in the leathers.
To answer the QOTD: It's been a while since a shoe gave me the ick, but the most prominent one was the Jordan XX. As a big fan of Huaraches, I understand the ankle structure idea, but having that floating ankle strap just made me hella confused.
Still remember MJ wore this while cleaning his golf club. Nice.
This is the only thing I equate this sneaker with never anything but that one photo this is my least favorite silhouette
