that is fantastic dude!!!!!!! big congrats. all that hard work your putting in is paying off. keep crushing it. whats the next trick you are aiming for now?
@@tredy7787 you got this!!! I know it’s like 8 months later, but I just in case your still working on them, I posted up a new bar spin tutorial that might help! ua-cam.com/video/xYrMUzKI8os/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
sounds like you might need to work on getting a bit more air time to you can give your feet more time to catch the deck. i always recommend trying it out of a small bank or off a small ledge to help give you more air. also make sure you are keeping the scooter deck under you. this will make it to much easier to catch before hitting the ground
I just wanted to say that over a year ago i watched your video and started practicing, after a year of hard work, hours and hours on end and after seeing people land their tailwhips in a matter of weeks or days, i have finally landed my first couple of tailwhips today, and for people who want to learn, my best advice would be to just keep on practicing even if it might seem like you will never get it, thank you so much, this helped a ton!
So i was recently trying to heelwhip, and i got hit in the knee, ive tried kneepads but they were really tight and i had a hard time riding. Could you recommend some good kneepads? @ChaseRost
that is whats up!!!!! ONLY 5 DAYS........ what a boss! sounds like you are crushing it. keep up the great progression. and thanks so much, i really appreciate that. i always try my best to put as much helpful info as i can in these tutorials. i love when i get feedback like yours to know they are worth making. thank you!
This is the best “how to tailwhip” video ever! I’m soooo close to landing one now but the only problem I’m having is that my feet land before the deck comes around. Other than that it’s an awesome strategy on how to form that muscle memory down to tailwhip!!
yoo thank you so much!!!! and it sounds like you are super super close. you could always try to do them out of a small bank to help you have a little more air time. Also try to practice your bunny hops/ jhops on the flat ground. Try to get as high as you can. This will give you more time in the air when you try to tail whip. but the most important step to practice is the "step kick catch motion" while you are practicing this, try to make sure you are bringing your feet back onto the deck. Building up this muscle memory on ground will help you dramatically when you are in the air. your feet will eventually learn how to make its way back to the deck if you practice it enough just on the flat ground. If you still cant seem to get both feet on, You can also try keeping your feet together sometimes which will force you to get both feet on the deck when it comes around. Hope this helps, definitely let me know if you’re r still struggling at all to get your feet back on.
This video is really helpfull! I have only the problem becouse I cant jump and combine it with spinning the deck. Can you help me? Thank you so much for this video!
Heck yeah absolutely! stoked to hear you thought my tutorial was helpful. one of the best and easiest ways to get your body used to kicking the deck while jumping is to practice the step kick catch motion like i talk about at 4:45 But while you do this, you wanna hop onto your front foot instead of stepping. while you hop, practice kicking your deck around. if you do this enough, it should become a lot easier to spin the deck and jump at the same time. Hope this helps, definitely let me know if you need any more help!
try to make sure you are able to comfortably and quickly rotate your deck while just standing on the ground like i talk about at 4:10 If you got this step down, you also wanna try to make sure you are curling your toes over the side of the deck. this will help you generate a harder/faster flick. Also it can help if you use your front foot to help guide the deck around while you are using your back foot to start the rotation. hope this helps, definitely let me know if you're still having any trouble with getting your whips around faster.
Do you have any tips towards kicking the deck in mid-air? because I have a good enough bunny hop but my kicking of the deck is also the prob lem, but thanks for explaining an easy way to spin the deck I will try that and see how far I get!
i would definitely try to curl your toes over the side of the deck a bit. this should help you get a bit more kick into the deck. also try to picture your backfoot is starting the whip and your front foot is helping to guide the deck around
@Fortnite player sounds like you might need some more air time. Try to send them off a bank or ledge to give yourself some more time In the air. Also try keeping your feet together. Sometimes this really helps riders that already can catch the deck but just have one foot struggling to get on.
Thank you for this video! After watching this a week ago I immediately progressed a lot. I’ve been doing it up a five foot ramp and I can land one foot on. I’m so close!!!
Got this trick really easily and was suspirsed on how quick it took me to learn (about 1 1/2 days). Definetly the best scooter tutorial youtuber out there and you have earned yourself another subscriber
You rock dude!!!! that is so legit, only 1.5 days. thats pretty rad. Sounds like you kind of already have a nac for this sport. hope you've got your tailwhips mastered now and are moving onto more tricks. if you ever need any help, i'm here for you and am constantly adding new tutorials to my how to playlist.
haha good eye! nope your not crazy, I like to ride my fork backwards. I’ve been doing it since I started scootering. It helps to minimize speed wobbles when pumping really fast and it helps for tricks like footjams. And it makes nose manuals easier since the center of gravity is lower to the ground.
does it matter what scooter you use? because i am currently learning on a flimsy little razor scooter and i don’t exactly see what i’m doing wrong, but i dont know what to do with my feet, and i feel like i put my front foot down first before my deck comes around.
Definitely writing a quality Scooter will make this trick and many others faster to learn. Learning on a flimsy scooter definitely does slow down progression. But by no means, is it impossible to learn still. You can still totally knock this out. I would recommend that you practice the step kick catch motion a few more times as this will help you build up the muscle memory on what to do with your feet in the air when it comes to full sending. Hope this helps, definitely let me know if you get any closer
yooo thanks so much man!!!! i always try my best to pack as many detail into my tutorials as i can to help riders learn as fast as they can! thanks so much for watching
I am new to scootering, and I have a question: Why does it look like you have your wheel on backwards? Isn't the longer part of the front wheel supposed to face forwards?
It helps with tricks like nose manny’s and foot jams. Also it helps minimize speed wobbles when pumping super fast. I actually made a video talking about the pro’s and con’s of riding of riding forks backwards. I Hope this helps: ua-cam.com/video/8MPmGUFBLvI/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
So glad my tutorial was able to help!!!! keep crushing it man! and thanks so much for watching. if you think of anyone else that might benefit for this whip tutorial, id greatly appreciated it if you shared it with them. i would absolutely love to see more riders master this trick.
you definitely want to jump then kick. if you kick to early you will snag the ground. but if you can get your timing down, the kick should start as you are starting to jump up at the same time.
you could always try to do them out of a small bank to help you have a little more air time. Also try to practice your bonny hops/ jhops on the flat ground. Try to get as high as you can. Great tutorial helped a lot I am just struggling to get the deck to spin faster and to get my feet of the deck while I’m in the air got any tips to help me with that thanks
thanks so much man! you got this. Regarding the flick, try to make sure you are curling your toes over the side of the deck. this will help you generate a harder/faster flick. Also it can help if you use your front foot to help guide the deck around while you are using your back foot to start the rotation. this should help get your feet off the deck upon take off. you could always try to do them out of a small bank to help you have a little more air time. Great tutorial! Easy to understand and very detailed at the same time. But I am able to do bar-spins, grind of from ledges and bunch more, but I just cant seem to get the landing even though ive been practicing this for a week. Do you have any other tips for like landing and getting more air time?
hey thank so much stoked to hear you liked my tutorial. You could always try to do them out of a small bank to help you have a little more air time. Hi so I kinda gave up on scootering because I was busy with travel softball but I’ve been getting back into it since I’ve had time on my spring break anyways i finally landed a tailwhip today I kept my feet together and I landed it after a few tries thank u so much!!
super excited to hear your getting back into it! thats so awesome you got your tailwhips!!!!!!!! keep crushing it, and i really hope you stick with it.
Hey man I know this is an older video but I'm hoping for a response, Im a heavier guy at like 115kgs and struggle to get that hop, I feel like im scared to land on the board without my foot on the ground.. any tips to break that fear for anyone else who has the same issue?
I would recommend trying to go back to the step kick catch motion. Try speed up the step kick catch motion faster and faster until you notice yourself almost not even needing your foot to plant. you can also try your whips out of small banks to give you a pinch more air time so you can slow everything down and give yourself more time in the air to focus on the landing. hope this helps! Definitely let me know if theres any part you’re still stuck on and ill try my best to help!
Thank you so much but quick question I can do the step kick catch but when I bunny hop and try and do it I can never get the deck to spin and keep it flat
I would recommend while you are practicing the step kick catch motion, try to start doing it with a bit of a hop in between. Eventually you can get the step kick catch motion fast enough to the point where you kick the deck around just before your front foot hits the ground, so it’s almost like a real tailwhip. After you do this enough, you should eventually be able to keep both feet in the air and just land back on the deck. Hope this helps definitely let me know if you’re still having any troubles keeping you’re deck flat and getting it around
right on! looking forward to seeing the clip. also do you mean that your headset is to tight? You can loosen your compression a bit to help your scooter deck spin faster. but besides that i would recommend working on practicing the spinning motion just in front of your body until your able to speed up the rotation of your deck
@@ChaseRost I’ve watched the vid like 13 times to get it down and I think I got the rotation down I just can’t keep my scooter in front of me and it always goes up and I will loosen my headset
@@mdbascootering9924 try to focus on the part in the video at 7:52 you want to make sure that you keep your bars parallel with your body. a good why to do this is to slightly curl you hands back on your grips. this will help keep the scooters leverage point more parallel. also what kind of compression are you riding?
yooo thats whats up, only one day!!!!!!!! You’re a beast. keep crushing it man. if you ever have any other friends or riders that you think might benefit from watching this tutorial too, definitely give it a share with them too. i'd really appreciate it. p.s. if you ever get a clip of you landing your whip definitely tag me on insta (@Chase.Rost) i'd love to see it and shout you out you on my page.

I FINALLY LANDED MY 2 FIRST TAILWHIPS!!! MY WHOLE FREAKING BODY IS ACHING! IM SO EXOUSTED!!! But because of u i just had to suffer for 4 days and now i got em! TY MAN
That’s so sick man! Congratulations. Sounds like you put in the work. Definitely keep doing them. Now that you’ve landed them they only get easier from here. Keep crushing it.
Yooo thats whats up!!!!!! Only two days, you're a boss. So stoked to hear my tutorial was able to help! Keep crushing it man. if you ever know of anyone who might benefit from any of my tutorials, i'd definitely appreciate if you share a vid or two with them. Thanks so much! P.s. if you ever think of a specific trick you wanna tutorial on, definitely let me know, and i'll get to work.
Hey could you please tell me how you rock the scooter at 4:15 I do up and down p but nothing happens. I’m really struggling and I’m getting pretty frustrated 😢
as the deck comes around you really wanna focus on catching with your back foot. also make sure you are staying level/ slightly leaning forward in the air. this will help keep your scooter under you and help let you get both feet on the deck. also try to keep your feet together as your deck comes around. One step that really helps with getting BOTH your feet back on is the step kick catch motion. as you practice this over and over again you can really start to perfect the catch and bring both your feet on. After doing this enough on the flat ground, the musical memory will start to kick in while in the air. hope this helps! Definitely let me know if your still having any troubles with your whips
i would definitely recommend you just straight up instead of back. this will help keep you center and balanced. and for the flick, try to make sure you are curling your toes over the side of the deck. this will help you generate a harder/faster flick. Also it can help if you use your front foot to help guide the deck around while you are using your back foot to start the rotation. hope this helps, definitely let me know if you're still having any trouble with the flick.
Thanks so much this video was by far the best video i could find. i sort of learned it the wrong way so now i have to relearn it and this video will give me a list of things to keep in mind while i practice. thanks!
you got this! so stoked you found my video, i hope the step in it have helped you dial in your whips the right way! Definitely let me know if theres ever any part you’re still stuck on and ill try my best to help!
@@ChaseRost Ok, I want to be successful my friend and I believe I will succeed. You are very successful in this branch, but my bad luck is being born in Turkey😎 the necessary support is not given
Thanks so much man! hyped to hear you thought my tutorial was well explained! I would recommend focusing on the "step kick catch motion". try to make sure you are taking it super slow so you can focus on the whip part and then you want to make sure you are fully catching with your back foot and then you are bringing your front foot back onto the deck. Building up this muscle memory should dramatically help you get your deck all the way around while in the air. Now if you are struggling with staying int hew air long enough for the deck to come around, you could always try to do them out of a small bank to help you have a little more air time. Also try to practice your bunny hops/ jhops on the flat ground. Try to get as high as you can. This will give you more time in the air when you try to tail whip. If you still cant seem to get both feet on, You can also try keeping your feet together sometimes which will force you to get both feet on the deck when it comes around. Hope this helps, definitely let me know if your still struggling at all to get your other foot back on.
yes, you want to do a little hop onto your stepping foot to help you get the practice of wiping the deck while jumping. And then as the deck is coming around, you want to hop off your stepping foot, lean forward and catch your deck and bring both your feet on your scoot.
Hi great vid and am great on flicking the deck but I don’t know where to keep my front foot so it ends up on staying on the deck any tips on helping that
try to picture your front foot is a magnate to your back foot. when your back foot catches the deck, try to bring you front as close to it as you can. it can also help if you keep your feet together in the air that way your front foot is already ready to land on the deck. the key to building up that muscle memory is to practice that step kick catch motion. while you are practicing really focus on bringing your foot back on while on the ground so you build the muscle memory for when you're in the air.
I know exactly what your talking about. that exact same thing used to happen to me back what i was really small and my scooter was really heavy. One thing that really helped me to be able to control my scooter better without making my body spin too was to tighten my core. While i practiced spinning my scooter out in front of me, i would keep my core super tight. This would help keep my balance center and keep me from having to spin in circles.
So glad you found my tutorial. thanks so much for watching. hope by doing it from a goofy prospective, it has helped you master your whips. Definitely let me know if theres every any part you’re still stuck on and ill try my best to help!
hey thank so much man! stoked you liked the video. I would recommend trying to go back to the step kick catch motion. try to make sure you are curling your toes over the side of the deck. this will help you generate a harder/faster flick. (i talk about this part at 1:53 ) Also it can help if you use your front foot to help guide the deck around while you are using your back foot to start the rotation. also practice the step kick catch motion while you do this. that motion will help you practice the flick before you are fulling sending it. Also really practice that arm motion that i talk about in the beginning. the faster you can get those arm moving, the faster you'll be able rotate your deck while in the air. hope this helps, definitely let me know if your still stuck on any parts of the whip.
Hey Chase, so I can land it almost every time but I recorded myself and it seems that I’m constantly jumping to my left to catch the deck and im sort of “hopping” from point A to point B as the deck whips around… I’ve watched many tutorials and I can’t seem to just stay in place and kick my feet out in opposite direction as the deck rotates under and catch it softly with the back foot like some of you guys are doing. How can I correct my form to achieve that? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Try to make sure you are tightening your core while you send it. If you tighten your core while you jump, then it helps keep you a bit more stable and in control of your whip. also if you ever notice that you are struggling to remain in control or are leaning to hard to one side, i would highly recommend going back to the step kick catch motion and really slow it down until you are staying in complete control. then start to send them again. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY make sure you are catching with your back foot. This can help you dial in the trick and help keep you from just hopping from point A to point B. Hope this helps. lmk if your stick having any troubles with this part of the whip.
loved your video but when I try to do it I bunny hop the longest i can and kick the scooter and "rotate" the bar but im still like 15 cm away from it when I land do you have any other tips for how to do it?
it sounds like you are getting super close. I would recommend trying to go back to the step kick catch motion. Try speed up the step kick catch motion faster and faster until you notice yourself almost not even needing your foot to plant. you can also try your whips out of small banks to give you a pinch more air time so you can slow everything down and give yourself more time int he air to focus on the landing. hope this helps! hey thanks so much!!! and yes that can definitely make it easier as it can give you that extra air time. you can also try it out of a bank to get a little more lift.
Hey chase i been working on them for about 2 days now and i can get the kick down and the rotation but i have a habit of landing my front foot down first and i dont know if its cuase im not jumpin hight enough or what.thank you
you could always try to do them out of a small bank to help you have a little more air time. Also try to practice your bunny hops/ jhops on the flat ground. Try to get as high as you can. This will give you more time in the air when you try to tail whip. but the most important step to practice is the "step kick catch motion 4:45 " while you are practicing this, try to make sure you are bringing your front foot back onto the deck. Building up this muscle memory on ground will help you dramatically when you are in the air. your front foot will eventually learn how to make its way back to the deck if you practice it enough just on the flat ground. If you still cant seem to get both feet on, You can also try keeping your feet together sometimes which will force you to get both feet on the deck when it comes around. Hope this helps, definitely let me know if your still struggling at all to get your front foot on.
yo do you have any tips for me cuz i can double heel cuz i didnt know the difference between goofy and natural so i thought i was whiping but i wasnt so now i cant really do anything
this is actually a common thing a lot of riders do. i would recommend trying to learn your whips both ways then that way you can be good at heel whips and tailwhips. being able to whip the proper way will also help for tricks like briflip and air whips down the line. but also still having that oppo whip mastered will com into play huge when trying tricks like late heel whips in combos and rewinds and tricks like that. but regarding a starting point. i would recommend going back to the step kick catch motion and tryin to learn the motion the right way and take it slow at first so you can master it both ways.
dude thats so good you got your front foot down now. Definitely sounds like you need ot work on the catching part. during the step kick catch motion i talk about how you wanna keep your back foot out and waiting for the deck to come around so you can catch it. i would recommend trying this motion three solid times each time before trying an actual one. This should help to build up your muscle memory so when you actually send it, then when it comes around you can catch it no problem. i talk about a few tips that might help at 6:17 . Definitely lmk if your still having any trouble catching the deck.
best way to practice the flick is to work on that step kick catch motion, i promise this will help build up your muscle memory to help you get your deck flicking around. the motion is then the same in the air once you've mastered the step kick catch motion on the ground
@@scotty0533 you could always try to do them out of a small bank to help you have a little more air time. This should help you from putting one food down immediately. Awesome vid! i am using a diy tramp scoot and once i get really good at that ill move to the actually scoot. i actually am getting pretty good at it as i have landed it 3 times in a row and the next it hitting my foot but not fully landing it! im about to try it on the grass. thanks so much!
i hope this video will help me, i’ve been trying for over a year. the weather isn’t great so i will wait for tomorrow before i try. i was once decent at tailwhips but i broke my foot and now i cant seem to get it😕
you got them man! just keep practicing that step kick catch motion to keep the muscle memory while you’re in the air. also i would focus on the part at 7:49 specifically. this should help you keep your scooter underneath you. hope this helps man! Definitely lmk if you could use anymore help.
Awesome tutorial! I quickly learned to land it, but I have a problem: When I whip clockwise, my body rotates cca 90° counter-clockwise and I then have to continue riding the way I am not used to. I tried practicing, but it's not getting much better, I've only been able to land with my feet straight. Anything I might be doing wrong or/and should concentrate on doing right? Thanks.
that is a actually a super common issue a lot of riders have., the best way to fix that is to try to keep your core tight while sending the whip. if you keep your core tight, then you stay in control of your scooter and it helps prevent your body from rotating in a direction un intended. another great way to counter that oppo 90 degree turn is to counter it in the beginning. so what you would do is start off pushing harder to the clockwise side so then if you get moved back (counter clockwise) 90 degrees then your body will be neutral again and you can catch with your feet the right way. hope that kinda makes since, a bit weird to explain over text as opposed to in person.
HELL YES W MANS W VIDEO I LOVE IT MY COUSIN REALLY GOT ME PASIONATED WITH SKATING ON A SCOOTER SO I STARTED YESTERDAY AND I'M GOOFY BUT NO ONE ELSE IS SO THEY COULDN'T HELP ME WITH THE TAIL WHIP. THANK YOU MAN💗💗💗💗
hey absolutely! so hyped to hear your now scootering. welcome to our awesome sport. if you ever need any help with any tricks, i'm always here. i also have an entire playlist full of tutorials so rider like you can hit the ground running. ua-cam.com/play/PLO4_z7G-gYba9iSdvR_NyxybSlJ7LKwjd.html
when kicking the deck try to picture it as more of a flick, you are just getting the rotation stared with your back foot, so your arms can take over the do the rest of the rotation. if you are able to just flick the deck with your foot, it'll help make the rest of the trick easier as your back foot will be closer to the deck when landing. i would also recommend working on keeping your core tight, this will help keep you centered and help keep you from kicking your deck and making your foot go to far.
When i flick the deck my feet stay on it so it doesnt mpve that much and i never land it, i newrd a tailwhip is like a fancy no footer. I can barely no footer is tailwhipping is really hard. Do you need to do a no footer for it or no?
no footers can help as they get you used to taking your feet off and putting them back on the deck. but technically no you can go straight into the tailwhip. I would recommend practicing the step kick catch motion over and over again like i talk about in the video and then try to speed up the step kick catch motion faster and faster until you notice yourself almost not even needing your foot to plant. you can also try your whips out of small banks to give you a pinch more air time so you can slow everything down and give yourself more time int he air to focus on the landing. hope this helps! Definitely let me know if theres any part you’re still stuck on and ill try my best to help!
Hey can you help me I feel like I can’t be precise enough to land it what I mean by this is I feel that it’s very difficult to land it because my deck is pretty narrow
I would recommend going back a step then and work on your step kick "Catch" motion. specifically focus on how your back foot is catching the deck as it comes around. As I talked about in the video, this step is so important and will help your body/ feet know exactly what to do in the air if you properly build up that muscle memory on the ground. As far as deck size, most of the time once you get the catch down your deck size doesn’t matter. the only time it really make a large difference if if your deck is to long. but if you are looking to master your scooter skills, and really wanna learn tricks a lot faster, i would Highly recommend tailoring a scooter to your exact size. If you need any help take a look at www.Raptureproscooters.com you can build up your scooter and tailor it to any size you need on our site. i personally make all the cuts and can work with you too dial in your scooter via email Raptureproscooters@gmail.com if thats something you wanna do definitely head to our site and you can also click that contact page if you have any questions.
Brooooo you are the best I’ve never found such a detailed and amazing video. I’ve been sooooo close to landing it. I just land right before the deck. today is the first day I actually tried it. I just finished after like a 3 hours of trying it. I never really done it. because I thought it would take me years but thanks.
heck yeah dude absolutely! super stoked to hear that you thought my tutorial was helpful. it sound like you are super close, you gotta comment on here and lmk when you land your first one. YOU GOT THIS!!!!!!!!
i don’t know how we could do this, but i have a video of me trying to do it in slow motion and i can land one foot but somehow i want to show you it and i would like if you could tell me what i’m doing wrong. also, i can make the deck go all the way around it stops/hits the ground a little over half way
sounds like you might just need a pinch more air time. really work on that initial pop before your whip. i would recommend trying them out of a small bank or off a small curb. or just really try to get your bunny hops a bit higher, and then come back to the tailwhip. Hope this helps, definitely let me know if you’re still struggling at all whip tailwhips.

you wanna flick with your back foot. and when it come to flicking and jumping, you wanna jump first then focus on the jump. this will ensure that you get up into the air first and then you can flick the deck wit your back foot. also you wanna jump with both feet to help maximize your air time. hope this helps, Definitely lmk if your still stuck at all.
Hey Rost you‘ve seen me in you’re comments before but i have a problem (even tho i landed it) i keep slamming my back wheel into the ground! Any help appreciated!
you'd be surprised at how common of a problem this is. but its a super simple fix. and this fix will actually help you become a cleaner and better rider. the reson your back wheel is slamming into the ground is most likely because you are not fully catching the whip as the deck comes around. so the simple fix is to start keeping your back foot out to catch the deck as it comes around. this allows you to catch the deck and control it so it is absorbed and then no longer slams into the ground. this will also help to learn faster in the long run because every trick that involves the deck leaving your feet will need to be catched I.e. Briflips, buttercups, I talk about this step at 5:22 in the video, hope this helps
you could always try to do them out of a small bank to help you have a little more air time. Also try to practice your bunny hops/ jhops on the flat ground. Try to get as high as you can. This will give you more time in the air when you try to tail whip. but the most important step to practice is the "step kick catch motion" while you are practicing this, try to make sure you are bringing your front foot back onto the deck. Hope this helps, definitely let me know if your still struggling at all to get your other foot back on.
It sounds like your front foot might be working against you in this case. You want to use your front foot as a guide to help the whip come around. But if you notice your front foot is causing more of an issue than helping, I would recommend just focusing on using your back foot to flick the deck and keeping your front foot hardly even on the deck. The step kick catch motion should help you with that part
hey absolutely!!! thanks so much for watching. and good eye! it sure is on purpose. having my fork backwards helps with a couple tricks like nose manny’s and foot jams. Also it helps minimize speed wobbles when pumping super fast. its just something i've always done since i started scootering. i always tell riders is a free hack they can try and if they don't like it, then they can always switch it back.
It's a complete Rapture Pro Scooter. Here is a link to the exact one i ride: raptureproscooters.com/collections/rapture-pro-scooter-completes/products/rapture-custom-complete-with-titanium-t-bars-colors-now-available And thanks so much for watching!!!!
I just really like riding my forks backwards, I personally like how it feels when steering as it makes everthing a bit tighter turning and touchy. It also helps with tricks like nose manny’s and foot jams. Also it helps minimize speed wobbles when pumping super fast. i always recommend trying it out and if not your fit, then you can totally always change it back
This is a great video it helped a lot but everytime I try to whip I don’t know what to do with my feet mid air (especially my front) just as I the rotation finished my feet already touch the floor. Any suggestions?

which way do you rote when you one 180? if you rotate to the right, then definitely keep your whips rotating regular. but if you naturally rotate your 180s to the left, then i would recommend going goofy. theres nothing wrong with learning both ways, but i would personally not recommend switching up your stance for each trick. it'll help in the long run to know if your goofy or regular so you can learn all your tricks from a solid base. Definitely let me know if your still struggling at all trying to figure out if your goofy or reg
that can definitely help. i recommend that a lot of riders can try it out of a ramp first and then work there way to flat. this can help build up your confidence by first getting you to land them wit more air. i recommend a mellow bank.
I DID IT I FINALLY DID IT AFTER TRYING FOR SO LONG I FINALLY DID IT I AM SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW, thank you, you have my gratitude.

This video is really helpfull! I have only the problem becouse I cant jump and combine it with spinning the deck. Can you help me? Thank you so much for this video!
Heck yeah absolutely! stoked to hear you thought my tutorial was helpful. one of the best and easiest ways to get your body used to kicking the deck while jumping is to practice the step kick catch motion like i talk about at 4:45
But while you do this, you wanna hop onto your front foot instead of stepping. while you hop, practice kicking your deck around. if you do this enough, it should become a lot easier to spin the deck and jump at the same time. Hope this helps, definitely let me know if you need any more help!

this is for chase to reply on only
try to make sure you are able to comfortably and quickly rotate your deck while just standing on the ground like i talk about at 4:10
If you got this step down, you also wanna try to make sure you are curling your toes over the side of the deck. this will help you generate a harder/faster flick.

Maybe I’m crazy but the front fork on his scoot looks backwards.
haha good eye! nope your not crazy, I like to ride my fork backwards. I’ve been doing it since I started scootering. It helps to minimize speed wobbles when pumping really fast and it helps for tricks like footjams. And it makes nose manuals easier since the center of gravity is lower to the ground.
I was going to ask too!
Me to😂😂
does it matter what scooter you use? because i am currently learning on a flimsy little razor scooter and i don’t exactly see what i’m doing wrong, but i dont know what to do with my feet, and i feel like i put my front foot down first before my deck comes around.

Do you start kick on the ground and then jump? Or do you jump and then kick?
you definitely want to jump then kick. if you kick to early you will snag the ground. but if you can get your timing down, the kick should start as you are starting to jump up at the same time.
Im so close it’s just that every time I try my front foot lands on the ground a split second before my back foot lands on the deck Any tips?

I would recommend trying to go back to the step kick catch motion. Try speed up the step kick catch motion faster and faster until you notice yourself almost not even needing your foot to plant. you can also try your whips out of small banks to give you a pinch more air time so you can slow everything down and give yourself more time in the air to focus on the landing. hope this helps!

But I had a question, what if ur deck was a slow spinner???
right on! looking forward to seeing the clip. also do you mean that your headset is to tight? You can loosen your compression a bit to help your scooter deck spin faster. but besides that i would recommend working on practicing the spinning motion just in front of your body until your able to speed up the rotation of your deck

Yo great video chase! much love from another chase! : )

I’m so Close it’s just that my dominant foot keeps landing on the floor Before the deck can reach it any advise
as the deck comes around you really wanna focus on catching with your back foot. also make sure you are staying level/ slightly leaning forward in the air. this will help keep your scooter under you and help let you get both feet on the deck. also try to keep your feet together as your deck comes around.
One step that really helps with getting BOTH your feet back on is the step kick catch motion. as you practice this over and over again you can really start to perfect the catch and bring both your feet on. After doing this enough on the flat ground, the musical memory will start to kick in while in the air. hope this helps! Definitely let me know if your still having any troubles with your whips

ouch!!!!! i hope you heal up fast mate
Good vid very well explained but I’ve been trying for awhile and I can’t get the deck all the way to my foot

@@ChaseRost i know,i wanna get them right now but my dad has some work to do and my helmet is arriving in 2 days
When you step do you jump at the time you put your foot on the ground?
yes, you want to do a little hop onto your stepping foot to help you get the practice of wiping the deck while jumping. And then as the deck is coming around, you want to hop off your stepping foot, lean forward and catch your deck and bring both your feet on your scoot.
I honestly saved this video for o watch it 1 mil times lol

@@ChaseRost yes I will
Hi great vid and am great on flicking the deck but I don’t know where to keep my front foot so it ends up on staying on the deck any tips on helping that
try to picture your front foot is a magnate to your back foot. when your back foot catches the deck, try to bring you front as close to it as you can. it can also help if you keep your feet together in the air that way your front foot is already ready to land on the deck. the key to building up that muscle memory is to practice that step kick catch motion. while you are practicing really focus on bringing your foot back on while on the ground so you build the muscle memory for when you're in the air.
whenever I do the rotation i start spinning in circles i just cant stand still and do it
I know exactly what your talking about. that exact same thing used to happen to me back what i was really small and my scooter was really heavy.

God loves you guys!

Hey chase Rost love the video so much help. The thing is that i can only get one foot on the deck, any tips?
hey thank so much man! stoked you liked the video. I would recommend trying to go back to the step kick catch motion. Try speed up the step kick catch motion faster and faster until you notice yourself almost not even needing your foot to plant. you can also try your whips out of small banks to give you a pinch more air time so you can slow everything down and give yourself more time in the air to focus on the landing. hope this helps! Yo coach. Can you help me with kicking deck harder, because my deck is spining very slow.
try to make sure you are curling your toes over the side of the deck. this will help you generate a harder/faster flick.
Yo chase still wanna make a truth or dare scooter video
If so, u gotta do it at a street spot then park
heck yeah I do! i'll try to work on one over this next week. ill post something on my insta story to get some truth or dare questions for the video

I swear I love your tutorials and thank you I’ve always wanted to try to tailwhip
Hey thanks so much for watching my tutorials!!! I really hope they help. Did you ever get your tailwhip?
No, but I’m working on it
Great tutorial! Just trying to get my first tailwhip would it be any easier to try to get one jumping off a curb?
hey thanks so much!!! and yes that can definitely make it easier as it can give you that extra air time. you can also try it out of a bank to get a little more lift.
I can spin the deck, but I cannot do it when I first launch of the ground. Any tips?
yo do you have any tips for me cuz i can double heel cuz i didnt know the difference between goofy and natural so i thought i was whiping but i wasnt so now i cant really do anything
this is actually a common thing a lot of riders do. i would recommend trying to learn your whips both ways then that way you can be good at heel whips and tailwhips. being able to whip the proper way will also help for tricks like briflip and air whips down the line. but also still having that oppo whip mastered will com into play huge when trying tricks like late heel whips in combos and rewinds and tricks like that. but regarding a starting point. i would recommend going back to the step kick catch motion and tryin to learn the motion the right way and take it slow at first so you can master it both ways.
New comment. I have managed to figure out how to not out my front foot down. New problem. I can only get one foot on the deck (back foot). Any advice?
dude thats so good you got your front foot down now.
I can bunnypop decent but I can't kick it in the air and I can do no footers do u have any tips.I gave been trying to kick it for about 4 hours
best way to practice the flick is to work on that step kick catch motion, i promise this will help build up your muscle memory to help you get your deck flicking around. the motion is then the same in the air once you've mastered the step kick catch motion on the ground
@@ChaseRost ye I realised that but do u have any suggestions for not putting 1 foot down after kicking the deck?
@@scotty0533 you could always try to do them out of a small bank to help you have a little more air time. This should help you from putting one food down immediately. Also try to practice your bunny hops/ jhops on the flat ground. Try to get as high as you can. This will give you more time in the air when you try to tail whip.

i hope this video will help me, i’ve been trying for over a year. the weather isn’t great so i will wait for tomorrow before i try. i was once decent at tailwhips but i broke my foot and now i cant seem to get it😕
I can get all steps down its just seems the deck moves away.thanks though I'm def closer or my tailwhips
you got them man! just keep practicing that step kick catch motion to keep the muscle memory while you’re in the air. also i would focus on the part at 7:49 specifically. this should help you keep your scooter underneath you. hope this helps man!

I need your advice for this. When I kick, my back foot it goes way to far behind my front foot and then I can’t catch my deck what do I do?
when kicking the deck try to picture it as more of a flick, you are just getting the rotation stared with your back foot, so your arms can take over the do the rest of the rotation. if you are able to just flick the deck with your foot, it'll help make the rest of the trick easier as your back foot will be closer to the deck when landing. i would also recommend working on keeping your core tight, this will help keep you centered and help keep you from kicking your deck and making your foot go to far.
@@ChaseRost thanks so mich

So I have one of those scooters with big wheels, can you still do a tailwhip with those?
yeah you can, as long as your bars are able to fully spin around. but its definitely going to be a bit harder for sure
@@ChaseRost Ok thanks 👍
If you need any help take a look at www.Raptureproscooters.com you can build up your scooter and tailor it to any size you need on our site. i personally make all the cuts and can work with you too dial in your scooter via email Raptureproscooters@gmail.com

dude my feet touch the ground really fast and i can’t get the deck to my feet on flat, any tips?
sounds like you might just need a pinch more air time. really work on that initial pop before your whip. i would recommend trying them out of a small bank or off a small curb. or just really try to get your bunny hops a bit higher, and then come back to the tailwhip. Hope this helps, definitely let me know if you’re still struggling at all whip tailwhips.
I can’t keep the deck under me it always lands to my right any suggestions

@@ChaseRost thank you so much I finally learned after days of practice because of you
how do i flick and jump at the same time? which foot should i be jumping with?
you wanna flick with your back foot. and when it come to flicking and jumping, you wanna jump first then focus on the jump. this will ensure that you get up into the air first and then you can flick the deck wit your back foot. also you wanna jump with both feet to help maximize your air time.
hope this helps,
Definitely lmk if your still stuck at all.

I LANDED ITTTTT
Briflips, buttercups,
I talk about this step at 5:22 in the video, hope this helps

Hi I am good on flicking the deck but when I pop I don’t know where to put my front foot so it just a stays on the deck and can’t do it great video
It sounds like your front foot might be working against you in this case. You want to use your front foot as a guide to help the whip come around. But if you notice your front foot is causing more of an issue than helping, I would recommend just focusing on using your back foot to flick the deck and keeping your front foot hardly even on the deck. The step kick catch motion should help you with that part
thanks for the tutorial 😊 but I can't stop noticing that your front wheel is backwards is that on purpose?
hey absolutely!!! thanks so much for watching. and good eye! it sure is on purpose. having my fork backwards helps with a couple tricks like nose manny’s and foot jams. Also it helps minimize speed wobbles when pumping super fast. its just something i've always done since i started scootering. i always tell riders is a free hack they can try and if they don't like it, then they can always switch it back.

I ride regular but i want to whip goofy should I keep whipping goofy or no!
which way do you rote when you one 180? if you rotate to the right, then definitely keep your whips rotating regular. but if you naturally rotate your 180s to the left, then i would recommend going goofy. theres nothing wrong with learning both ways, but i would personally not recommend switching up your stance for each trick. it'll help in the long run to know if your goofy or regular so you can learn all your tricks from a solid base. Definitely let me know if your still struggling at all trying to figure out if your goofy or reg
@@ChaseRost Thanks i just went out and tried regular and landed it first try but, i am proficient in both
Is it better to learn doing it off a ramp so you have more air time?
that can definitely help. i recommend that a lot of riders can try it out of a ramp first and then work there way to flat. this can help build up your confidence by first getting you to land them wit more air. i recommend a mellow bank.
