Thanks so much! i really appreciate that. i always try to give as many good tips and techniques to help other riders learn how to better their riding. i'm always stoked to help ppl in the comments if they're still having trouble. i really appreciate that you and your positive comment
Learned bar spins at 49, still throwing them at 50. The in-place practicing really works because you build your muscle memory, especially the finite movements that work for each individual. I practice these indoors with a block of wood propped under my scooter, and throwing them over and over again really does translate to doing these in the street and park. One little trick: don’t just focus on the spinning grips, but also the spinning stem of the bars themselves. Also, compensate for accidental too-short throws by overcompensating your throw. Instead of a 360 degree spin, go for a 362 degree spin!
that is a great tip! a harder tossed bar is much better than an under tossed bar. And that is so awesome, at 50 you are crushing it! i'm about half way there, i hope i'll still be able to ride when i get there.
Much love mate! I’m so stoked to hear you were able to get them so fast. Comments like these always make me want to make more tutorials to help more riders.
Hey my cousin met you at Ollie's soatepark on Sunday but I have watched your videos and o like them alot and this stuff has helped me so thanks and keep up the good work
hey so i can tail whip and everything but i am really struggling with the barspin bc i run bars that are pretty big and it gets caught on my shirt so i tried and lean back when i j hop to make more room but it still gets caught on my shirt or shorts
One option you could always do is cut down your bars or better yet have a second set of bars that you can practice barspins on. then once your comfortable getting them with the smaller bars, you can put back on your big bars. that way you can keep the muscle memory. Another thing you could try is attempting the trick with a supper tight shirt, that way there is nothing for your bars to get caught on. Hope this helps!
Thanks for always responding to comments also why does my deck keep flying away from me i cant land it i get the bars around fast enough but my deck is way in front or to the side of me
heck yeah absolutely! i always try my best to get to every single one. the best way to get your deck to stay under you is to pull up as you are bar spinning the bars. as you star the spin you want your guide hand to slightly be pulling up as it rotates the bars. you also wanna try to make sure you are level in the air when you toss the bar. this should help you deck stay under you more. Definitely let me know if you still need any help.
an easy way to keep your deck glued to your feet is to slightly pull up on your bars as you do the spin. this will help keep your feet from slipping off. also try to make sure you are pushing your hips back. this will help you make more room so you can land a cleaner barspin. Im actually in the middle of editng a new updated barspin tutorial that adds quite a few more tips and tricks in it that will definitely help if your still trying to master your barspins. shouold be up in just a couple weeks
lynx is bae best way to help keep your feet on your scooter is to pull your bars up while you are spinning. So with your hand that is spinning the bars around, make a cup with it and life up so your deck keeps pressure on your feet. Hope this helps. Definitely let me know if your still having any troubles.
hey thanks so much for watching! i'm so hyped when shredders like you are able to learn from my videos. keep crushing it! What tricks are you working on next?
best way to get them faster is to just keep practicing the motion over and over again. your hands will eventually move quicker and quicker the more you do them. You can also try to make your rotating hands closer towards the middle of the bar. sometimes this can help speed up the barspin. for air, i would recommend leaning forward a bit more than on the flat ground or flyout. this will keep you fro looping out when you do them air.
i broke my right hand so i have to spin with my left hand cause impact and control to my right is not as good as my left so i catch with my right. helped a lot to see the timing of when you throw the bar in the air its right as you hit level in the hop its just so fast thats gon take so long with my 27 inch bars bruh
Nyxx dang 27” is definitely some tall bars. And hope your right hand heals up all the way so you can use it for bar spins again. You’ll get em tho just keep practicing!
chase i know i am 4 years late i already know how to barspin but i am regular and do them clockwise i just feels weird the other way and i dont wanna relearn bar bartwists 180 bar etc is it a problem that i do them like that
theres not really a problem with that at all. Actually in fact it'll make some tricks like bar bris easier. When ever riders learn bars "oppo" first, it usually makes a lot of bar rewinds and techy bar tricks easier later on. Because if you later learn the bars the "proper way" then you are an unstoppable bar beast. I would personally recommend trying to learn your bars both ways. that way tricks like truck driver and bri bars with be easy because you can just change the bar direction depending on the trick.
The fundamentals are the same but it does make doing them in a rotation trick a bit unique. But I’d say learn them both ways, you been able to do bar rewinds like a boss then.
I’ve had that problem before. The best way to prevent hitting your wrist while spinning that bars around is to guide the bars around with your hand a bit more evenly. By that I mean, you wanna make sure your hand that is pushing your bars around is leaving the bars right as your other hand is grabbing to help prevent the bars from hitting your wrist. You can also add an extra grip to your bars to make your grips longer. I used to cut grips in half to help fill the extra metal on my bars.
Xhhzns Xhxbsjsn try this! When you are standing on the flat ground. Leave 1 foot on the ground in 1 foot on your scooter deck and lift your scooter in the air. Now try to do the bar spin with 1 foot on the ground holding yourself balanced. When you do the bar spin like this, you will need to hook your hand around the bar as it comes around to keep the scooter controlled to your foot on the deck. This will help you a lot when you’re in the air as your hand will have the muscle memory of controlling the bar spin to keep your entire Scooter under you. Hope this helps definitely let me know if you still need any help, also feel free to shoot me a Dm on insta (@chase.rost) if you ever wanna show my how it’s looking.
Chase Rost So I ride goofy and I spin the bar with my right hand. Should I be trying to spin it the other direction with my left? Because every time I try and bar spin, the bar hits my leg/knee and stops
Trey Bohanan you got the right spin down. Since you stand goofy you’ll want to use your right hand to spin the bars clockwise. Best way to mee from hitting your knees is to push your butt back and make a backwards C with your body. This should help you make enough clearance to toss the bar around without snagging anything.
I personally love doing footjams and nose mannys. Have my fork backwards really helps for those tricks. Also I love how the steering feels when the fork in backwards. The only downside I’ve noticed, is it makes fakies just a pinch harder, but not enough to make me wanna ever change it back. I always tell ppl to try it, cuase it’s free. And you can always change it back if it’s not your thing.
Sounds like your compression might be bit tight. I would recommend trying to first loosen your compression just a pinch. if you need any help taking apart and putting your scooter back together, i made a video diving into my scooter on how to take it apart and put it back together :ua-cam.com/video/FNqOfX0eLoE/v-deo.html if your its not a compression issue, it's possible that your headset is a bit worn out. if you want to snag a fresh headset to get your scooter spinning as fast as mine, you can pick up that same headset i ride here: raptureproscooters.com/collections/headsets hope this helps man, definitely let me know if your still having any troubles getting your scooter bars to spin faster
Trimint not necessarily, but one way will probably be easier for you in the long run. If you ride it goofy, the “natural” way to spin the bars is clockwise. If you ride regular the natural way to spin the bars is counterclockwise. Hope that helps!
thank you very much, i bought a new scooter with a 600 millimeter bar. Evryone which i know is riding a skatepark scooter and they are having very small bars and they couldnt teach me it. but you can thx very much

Y9. TeePyツ is recomand making sure that your hand is following the the bars as they spin around. You don’t want to just toss them and let go. Make sure your hand turning the bars is actually making the circle motion and that should help minimize the over rotation.
if your stuck on the jumping spin, i would recommend practicing the motion more on the flat ground first. just standing and getting your hand motion down is so important
sounds like you might need to lean forward a bit more. Also try to lift up on your bars while you spin them around. this will help you keep the deck up on your feet so you don't slip off and land on your brake. hope this helps mate, definitely let me know if you still are stuck on this.
