Thumbs up. The incomparable Ainsley Jarvis has been in my dreams since this flick first came out. (rolls eyes) In case anyone isn't sure . . . that's my attempt at humor. Update: can you imagine Mr. Jarvis getting into such an elaborate costume and makeup in such a short period of time ??? Just a few minutes before before Clouseau arrived ????? I cannot. It must take at least an hour or more. A bit of movie magic via time - compression.
2 observations. 1/ Julie Andrews had a hit and should have won a Grammy/Oscar for that song, all drag stuff aside, it is a fantastic and haunting love song. 2. Ainsley Jarvis wants Inspector Cleuseau.....tonite.
Ainsley's death scene is perfect. Clouseau comes into Ainsley's dressing room and realizes that he's been attacked. Ainsley is lying on the floor gasping out his last breaths and Clouseau kneels down beside him. Just when you think Ainsley's last words might contain some important clues ...he lifts his head and kisses Clouseau on the cheek before he collapses.
Julie Andrews had an amazing voice and an incredible range -- until she lost most of it as a result of a botched surgical procedure -- but the public typically only ever heard her use her upper register until she starred in "Victor/Victoria". (Sopranos aren't often given much opportunity to show off their lower register because that's where mezzo-sopranos and altos come in.) A couple of the songs from that film (which is one of my favorites) such as "Crazy World" go as low as this if not lower. With proper training, a skilled soprano -- even a first soprano -- can even sing a couple of the highest notes in the tenor range cleanly without going into chest voice. I'm a first soprano with a very good range, and I can do this -- I'm also personally acquainted with at least one other who can do it.
Jarvis as a character does not make any sense. As the butler, he saw Clouseau make a complete fool of himself at the Fassbender house and was clearly annoyed by him. Now suddenly he’s flirting with him here? Is there something he’s trying to hide and distract Clouseau from learning? Also, in the kidnapping scene, we see he came home on his motorcycle to find the kidnapping in progress and was knocked out, so why did he lie to Clouseau during the interrogation, saying he was asleep in his room when the incident happened? And why do the kidnappers try to kill him?? Is he an undercover cop????? I can’t help but wonder what the writers were thinking when it came to this character, because nothing adds up.
Great song and easily the funniest scene in the movie!
Love it how he puts up his badge up in front of one of the kidnappers. And the dude just clocks him flat.
who would have thought it Michael robbins playing drag ?.still it was funny god rest his soul.
carl kane Fine under-appreciated actor. Good in everything I've seen him in.
Doesn't get better than this. The roaring 20's club

The Best!
He runs away on Olive to become a drag queen?
Was he aware he was in a gay bar
No lol
I didn't know Julie could sing that low key. But she really made this song sound queer to the max! lol 🤓

This is film has Clouseau in it, not Colombo haha
I agree. The storyline doesn’t make sense. Regardless, Jarvis is probably one of the funniest characters in the movie.
What’s the title of this song?
