The worst part is seeing compassionate reporters and volunteers come help the refugees, criticize Greece, and then fly back to their big homes with no refugees on their lawns. One volunteer I met was from Martha's Vineyard and spoke about how heartless Greece was. I asked her how her parents and neighbors would've behaved if three times their island's population was occupied by refugees. How much compassion will remain if they can't continue their routines and the life they got used to the last 40 years?

Greeks are close to being a minority in their own country. Tourism is a big source of income for many people on these islands and these "refugees" are preventing the locals from making money. Most of the people you see aren't from Syria. They speak fluent turkish and are from Afghanistan.

What I wrote about Malta, was that it is a mere rock in the middle of the sea, and yet houses half million Maltese. There’s no doubt that the trouble migrants go through is horrendous, but Greece is a country with 11 million people. Because we’re so small, we can’t just admit all the migrants into Greece and act as if there won’t be any tension regarding cultural differences. As a matter of fact, Greek extremist groups like Golden Dawn have risen because the tensions are so extreme. The migrants don’t speak the same language as the natives, don’t practice the same religion, might not know the history of the country, and don’t practice the customs. I’d have a hard time acting as if Greece would look the same as now if we continued with this. Keep in mind, this has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH RACE. There have been immigrants of all colors that have come to Greece and assimilated into the culture just fine, Giannis Antetokounmpo is a perfect example. The sad part is, this crisis wouldn’t be happening if the United States stopped carpet bombing the Middle East.

Greeks are close to being a minority in their own country. Tourism is a big source of income for many people on these islands and these "refugees" are preventing the locals from making money. Most of the people you see aren't from Syria. They speak fluent turkish and are from Afghanistan.
