    Milanese bracelet are probably their best.
    Mine came with a cruddy “leather” strap, replaced with alligator and now looks smooth.
    NATO/Zulu straps really work with Vostok.

      @@rickross5949 Hi Rick, I'm a British guy who's lived in Moscow the last few years. Like you (perhaps) I do like that particular Vostok - so checked out a few prices locally from authorised dealers. I'll post some links here later or over the weekend.
      I've never shipped anything from Russia - so the dealer will charge you for delivery (obviously) plus there may be a duty to pay at your end (I don't know if that's the case - but it would be minimal).
      In the last couple of years I've bought a mobile phone and an HP laptop in Russia, and had a good experience - often such gadgets come with a higher spec for the Russian market compared to the UK, Europe or US equivalent.

      @@rickross5949 Prices locally (in Russia) for the Vostok Amphibia 120512 seem to vary from 4,000-5,000 Russian Roubles which is currently c.£40-50 (GBP) or $55-70 (USD). The cheapest I've seen (after a quick internet search) is 4,077 Roubles - which is an absolute steal! That even includes free delivery by courier within 1-2 days.....! I think this could be a birthday present to myself later this month....
      This seems promising Rick: meranom.com/ru/amphibian-classic/120/vostok-watch-amphibian-classic-120512.html - there's an option to read the website in English, they give a contact email address and Whatsapp contact details. They say they ship worldwide too.
      Here's another that ships their watches worldwide: timeoclock.ru/vostok-120512/
      I haven't used either company so can't give you any reliable information about each dealer or a recommendation about where to buy your watch, but of the 2 links, the 1st (Meranom) seems more geared up for shipping overseas to English-speaking customers.
      An extra tip, if you're looking at Russian watch retailers' websites online and need to translate the site/part of the site to English, I would definitely recommend using Yandex Translate (not Google). If you copy any webpage (that's in Russian) and paste it into Yandex it will translate the page for you and give you a far more accurate translation than Google (which copes very poorly with Russian).

    i got this vostok and doubled my watch collection from one to a whopping two. it took about a year to get it since it's backordered, and because my russian friend finally hand-delivered it after months of holding onto it during the war (slava ukraini) before taking an out of country vacation
    my notes:
    the strap on mine is a bit different, shaped like a metal band made of black rubber, and i like it very much. i had a nato strap all ready to install but i removed it the very next day to go back to the original which i prefer by far
    i have small wrists and my big concern was that it would look too big, but it wears great and i wouldn't change the size at all if i could. i have 4 strap holes to spare from where it buckles on me
    everyone complains about the lume, but, not me. maybe it is not as bright as some other makes out there, but i can still read the time after hours in darkness, while my bulova can barely keep enough glow for 15 minutes
    mine seems to be running a bit fast, possibly +15 sec/day but i'll try my hand at regulating it
    i really like this watch and i know it'll be my daily wearer for a long time, with its classic looks, soviet-kitschy markings, and self-winding mechanical movement

    Hi, firstly - thanks for the review, straight to the point, very informative.
    Secondly, I would like to ask you about thickness of the case. You mentioned that it does not feel as thick as 15 mm might suggest, do you find it comfortable even for some manual work ? I'm kinda put off by the fact, that I might smash it into things when doing some gardening and stuff around house. On the other hand, its Vostok - it is supposed to survive a lot of stuff !
    Thanks :)

    • @BlueRam788
      @BlueRam788  3 роки тому +1

      It’s the crystal that adds to the thickness, not so much the case. If you hit it, it will scratch. I have not hit it really, but I’m careful. I would not reach into a car engine bank or something though. No
      Issues for me whilst doing yard work or moving. Thanks for the feedback.

    I have a 120811 which is also a no date model with black dial. I bought mine on Amazon so it was a little more expensive. It took about 6 weeks for me to receive it. These watches are worth it if you need an attractive automatic watch to wear every day. You get a lot for the money. There is no need to be overly critical of the quality of this watch. You get more than you pay for in my opinion. That being said, Vostoc watches do have flaws. For one thing, they rust. Vostoc uses inferior quality steel in the cases and crowns plus the bezels are usually base metal plated. If you don't mind it doesn't matter. These watches are meant to be worn and enjoyed. They are not really collectors items.

      @@dannydiamondboy Rust is not a big issue as if you begin to see it forming it will clean off with a rag and some elbow grease. Its just a lower quality steel than other company's use. They are good daily beater watches to have and enjoy.

    • @hb9145
      @hb9145 10 місяців тому +1

      This used to be caused by galvanic corrosion because of different materials in the case and crown. All watches produced the last years should be fine. I swam in the ocean with mine, and no issues at all. (I rinsed it with fresh water a couple of hours later, though.)

    Vostok watches
    I think Vostok watches are very decent watches; to begin with they have a clear identity and tradition. However, at the same time, I think the company should pay more attention to issues like shipment and its lead time. They can not just blame the pandemic for the long time their product takes to get to the final destination; they should engage in a proactive task that reach the Russian Post, etc., and avoid lost in transit products, which happened to me. My point: ordering from Germany to USA and using normal post services takes about 2 weeks to get to USA soil, to the customer. So, why Vostok seems like not to care about lead times? Is Vostoc just covering Russian Post inefficiencies? Sorry to say that , as a whole, country-wise, this issue shown on the video and others like the one I am describing , creates a negative perception on the country, it reflects a "third world" image.

    • @BlueRam788

      I think the watches are great, Shipping took a long time for me in both cases. I have Had some harsh critiques of my mentioning of slow shipping so I don’t know. • @DovidSal
      @DovidSal 3 роки тому

      @SynthFrost Yes, and to get to Singapore took 12 days.
      I dedicated plenty of time following the Lost in Transit package, I learned several things:
      1.- Postal service company in the shipping country works better than good ; they carry the parcel to the "border", do customs and deliver to a member of the Universal Postal Union (coordinator of international mail).
      2.- At that point your suffering starts; the coordination includes other members to include USPS. Once you are able to track your parcel in USPS website, THAT MEANS, USPS is coordinating , controlling and is responsible for your parcel. HOWEVER , it could be perfectly sitting in a warehouse of a 3rd party (another member) OR traveling the world through OTHER members.
      3.- Because of that , eventually, if it is not lost, you will magically see that your parcel , all of the sudden , shows up, in a local USPS' Distribution Center....
      ... in summary... your package should be within USPS area of responsibility... they dont disclose that... they just allow tracking... your package is traveling or sitting somewhere... if not lost by the 3rd party - member... eventually will show up...
      USPS has a lot of flows outside of USA

      @@Dave062YT If standard SKX007 measures fit em all, not just this one, then they may well be. Source of the confusion is, if you visit some of the retail commercial sites you'll find descriptions like
      "Good to Vostok Amphibian watches with first 2 digits of number : 06, 09, 10, 11, 71" (vostok-poljot site)
      "420, 710, 120,960,060,090, 100, 110, 150, 020, 160, 670, 650,350" (meranom site ...lists out all the above and everything else, too.)
      Elsewhere you find ones marked as 'universal'.
      There is some, probably negligible (?) variance in the inner diameter measures according to some specs, such as 31.00mm vs 31.50mm. Not sure if there is difference here in reality.
      If you're right (you probably are), one can't help but wonder why sellers list out Amphibia case types that the bezels fit, if it doesn't matter since they're all the same... ?
