It has RCA in and out, left and right channels. I plan on replacing these with 1/4" because, well, RCA is crap. The reverse reverb isn't anything great, and there is no control over timing except for the presets which are few (for the reverse anyway). This first version of the Midiverb sounds great, but it lacks the control and features of the newer versions. The Midiverb 2 is way better in pretty much every aspect. If you have a choice, get the 2.
Jerry Garcia i highly doubt he would even use a mc-303. the mc-303 was aimed for beginners . he has about everything you can think of for equipment.... that was done on a modular system.... running patch
Jerry Garcia i never heard an arpeggio be able to bounce like a ball..arpeggios stay in their box and never fall out of sync.. it sounds like he is using granular synthesis to me.. . why dont you upload a video of you doing it.. that will shut me up!! lol
I think the roland filter is a little squelchier and round. Moog is thick fat and fuzzy. Roland works better for polyphonic sounds, leads, and simple sounding bass IMO, whereas Moog takes up a lot of space.
@HeresJamesPrice, FYI: 1/4" and RCA are functionally the same. Balanced signal (which is not possible with RCA) is better than unbalanced if you have long cable runs, but just swapping out the RCA jacks with 1/4" won't balance the I/O.
no - i really don't think afx uses a 101 for this track. having just bought a 101 and 202 - i can confirm this. the sequencer is very basic on the 101. The 202 allows you to change the note length of the 6th note from 12 to 24. you cannot do that on a 101. This video actually made me go and find a mc-202..!
Hey nice vids, just have a question about the midiverb. I saw one in some old store awhile ago but never knew what it sounded like, and still not sure if it was the same one. Just have 2 questions: 1) I thought I remember the inputs being weird (not 1/4 jacks like pedals), is this the same reverb? If it is, how do you hook it up to a synth? 2)How's the reverse reverb? I kinda wanna try some ambient stuff and was wondering if the reverse was cool on this one, or if I should go for the 2
@swarm69 I just saw one for 380 euros. I was tempted but sobered up, don't know what I'd give for one. There's plenty of other step sequencer boxes around that are more versatile
a few weeks? Thats the best thing i have ever seen. It programing the 202 easy to get to grips with? also would standard reverb work just as well? Thanks.
@shenmue4life aphex actually DOES use a 202 and midiverb, among shit loads of other things. but i remember reading this in an interview. nice werk HJP!
subversive775 It's actually not THAT cool, and you can get one pretty easily if you know where to look for (without that shitty touristy analog hype revival price tag). It sure has it's roundy charmy for sure, and is a work horse for many purposes. But the sound and synthesis of it can be ahcieved (and more) with lot's of other monosynths very affordably nowadays. I suggest save the family considering the actualstate of things. ; )
Joseph Haney Those Arturia's have a 12db pole filter, instead of a 24db filter. That makes quite a difference, + the BS2 has also this "acid" filter, that supposedly imitates this 303's diode filter. If you are looking to have a synth that's capable to execute those classic Roland-esque sounds, you're better of getting a BS2. Arturia is more bright, "buzzy" sounding. I guess it depends on what you're looking for. It ain't shit though.
I love the sounds of the birds in the background.

He used also Roland MC303 to do the ping pong ball in Come to daddy
yeah sure! lol
808acid I have a Roland MC-303. You can create the bouncing ball effect. It's a simple trick.

Most keyboards have that arpeggiator pattern. I don't know what gear he used to make it. All I'm saying is that it's easy to pull off.

I can't program my 202 for crap and you did a fantastic job! Cool to see some tricks from you there.
Me personally, I'd take the sound of the Roland filter over Moog's any day

Roland synthesizers use lot of different filters. Precisely, which do you like?

The song is Polynomial-C off Classics.
@N0iseAndS0und The midiverb is the device above the 202 in the video. So, yes, it's a separate device.
Great sound!!! 🍾 Please make a tutorial on how to program it! 🙏

Polynomial C.. (* smiles *)
Why always Polynomial C? I've seen so many videos like this.
RCmies ageispolis needs more love. the length and timing of that melody is so challenging but fun id think more people would do it..
its such an easy sequence to rememeber, also happens with ernest borgnine from squarepusher, or "on the run" by pink floyd.

what other gear that you can buy actually does the same type of sequencing?
can anyone recommend. i wanna be able to mix melodies.
