I had the extreme pleasure of getting to see them at least twice back in the 70s. Theirs was the best concerts i have ever gone to. I still love them to this day. Makes me feel young.
Been an aficionado of The Moody Blues since 1967. I used to tell people The Moody Blues music will live long after they're gone. Some people never could understand The Moody Blues and their power and their great creativity . It's good to see after these many decades indeed I had been right about The Moody blues, Moody Blues live forever.
Yes, many people don’t get them. Don’t understand their lyrics, melodies, harmonies and versatility. Probably the only band where all five members provided lead vocals - upto Octave.
I imagine the thrill of the individual orchestra players upon playing and experiencing the wondrous songs with backing up this brilliant band. Loving their talent for just over 5 decades. Rock On !
I forgot how much I enjoyed listening to the Moodies while doing some Strawberry Fields or Purple Osley. On the Threshold of a Dream was LSD put to music.
I agree 100% Threshold is LSD in music as is In Search of the Lost Chord. These two albums are perfect creations of pure musical genius. Every bit as great as The Beatles. I love Days of Future Passed, too. Comparable to Sgt Pepper and just as good!
Great video! Not sure why Mike left; you get different answers. But good to see him involved with this documentary; he didn't seem to wish to have anything to do with the Moodies for years. Thanks for posting!
I agree so much, although I Love the old Moodies best they never cease to surprise me, out comes a new beautiful song such as December. But Mike definately was a powerful inspriation to the early Moodies and great in my opinion. Thanks so much for posting!
@@jamesedwards2237. Yes. They were young teenage boys when they first got together. When John talk to Ray about finally getting into the RRHOF, Ray's response was, "when we were in El Riot, did you ever think we would make it?" It's so sad that Ray didn't get to see the induction ceremony. At least he knew he had "made it".

The Moody Blues are the ones who in Revelation chapter 10 of the Bible put the 7 Thunders that outer their voices together. Read in the book Seventh Messenger how it is reviled. Love to the Moody Blues.
DID I JUST SEE LOVE AND BEAUTY? Who cares if that's any studio audio recording were singing the song... It's the one clip I don't care too much that dubbed in... It's clearly not lip-synchro... But I do wish the actual live audio was there. That appeared on the five CD set Time Traveler The fifth disc was a bonus and I was fortunate to get that. If it's still available I think it's only the four studio CDs Which are compilation of some other best music. Who cares. It almost sounded too good

the best of european music, not just a band, a way of turning mood into sound, profoundly moving, they will have influence 100's of years from now.

I love Mike Pinder’s voice. He is such a gifted and beautiful man. 💙
They were my spiritual Guide. God bless the Moodies.
I agree!! So Spiritual to this day!
1969: The best music on the scene. First music worthy of a first 'acid-drop'.
MOOD BLUES,PINK FLOYD,BEATLES,QUEEN,SUPERTRAMP, I LOVE ALL!🎵🎶🎼🙆
My altime favorite rock band.

Nice archive footage of the magical and unsung Love and Beauty.

"Watch out, the waiter's on acid!"
"Their hold on the charts as firm and uncompromising as Justin's hairspray."
Best line of the vid 😂
Couldn't agree more that was a good one I'm pretty sure that even he had to laugh at it if he got to read it
😄😆
classic moodie blues lineup...PINDER HAYWARD EDGE LODGE THOMAS!
And now in 2024 , Justin still out there wonderful ❤ as is John ❤ what a fantastic band, but must say still a little in love with Justin ❤
Understandably. Be well.
Sid loved moody blues
Starting at approx. 1:28 - the lady dancing next to Justin Hayward (Marie), later became his wife. ;)
That's not Marie. Marie was a lot thinner and very blonde.
@@SpectorTippy I'm not sure, but it could be her clothes and if she had dyed hair at the time, even through the quality it looks like her face
@@jennal.7365. This is Marie at about the same time or a little later.. www.pinterest.com/pin/120893571232082904/
I never realised pinder was such a big part of the group many of my favourite tracks are by him
when the vid starts and the rocket takes off I was expecting "blasting, billowing, bursting forth with the power of 10 billion butterfly sneezes.."
No, John Lodge is a gorgeous & married to his wife for 40 yrs. I've had a crush on him since high school.
And John didn't take drugs, I don't think. He's been an evangelical Christian for years.
New subscriber here ❗ Thanks for posting this ‼️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤❤❤
moodytoni you welcome, I love the Moody Blues alot. I'm glad you enjoy them.
"Watch out...the waiter's on acid!" LMAO!
MoodiesFan, thanks for an excellent clip!
And this ushered in a whole new sound.......
The Greatest
The best in music at the end of the sixties!!!!!!!!
Este grupo hizo historia fue mi favorito
Justin was a mere 19 years old when he wrote "Knights in White Satin".
"Cold-hearted orb that rules the night removes the colors from our sight."
I didn't know John was in the group first, before Clint Warwick.
He wasn't.
He was in a group called El Riot and the Rebels first before joining the Moodies.
@@SpectorTippy El Riot and the Rebels, with Ray Thomas and Mike Pinder.

analogdesigner, you are very welcome, I aim to please all Moody Blue fan's all around the world. :)
A useful little synopsis. I'm glad that they dropped a tab "as friends"!
LOVELY INDEED....

Total excellence
Very good question.
Ah….the concept album
You don't get different answers. He didn't want to tour anymore. He had a life in California with a new wife and wanted to stay there.
And the constant touring wore on him.
oh my god! mike pinder is back!!!!
NIGHTS IN WHITE SATIN is in the Grammy Hall of FAME of songs 1999 I think this is the only Grammy they won. Does anyone know another?❤ thanks!
I love this video!!
To Our Children's Chilldrens Children would have been an excellent choice, I think, for space travel.
L. S. D. !!!!!
INDEED....

is this whole show on tape? thanks for posting!
BAAHAHAHAHAHA! Both comments about Justin's hair killed me! What was the song around 1:40? I liked it.
Love and Beauty...
It sure was funny I'm sure even he had to laugh at it
Mike thinks dropping acid a few times gave him the wisdom of medicine men and understanding of indigenous culture? Pomposity.
He said "it opened us up to", not "made us instant experts". I think the pomposity, my friend, is your own.

Tommo "italian waiter" on acid LOL, more like Basil Fawlty

Why is that guy speaking so cynical?
Other that that it's a very nice video
It does make me sad to hear of the LSD use. Their music is not wacky but cohesive and meaningful
LSD made them what they were .

What was the song from 1:34 to 1:45 ???
+MadmanMancusi Don't know, sounds like Herman's Hermits
It's called "Love And Beauty". It's a very good song but they have it sped up tremendously here where they sound like chipmunks.
Love and Beauty. You can find it on their Prelude album.
Drugs how I love you lol
