  • i know many people have already seen this interview before, however, I've never seen that first clip and i thought other people might want to see it too. it would've been ridiculous to post a 20-second video, so i decided to include the interview and performance too. (which have no watermark, unlike the original, yayy)

Always a range of emotions I feel when I see Steve in an interviewing context. I find it extremely difficult to process how Steve was not only lucid, he is sober, he has such an infectious laugh, he is so shy - innocent. This genius really was one of musics greatest modern day Mozart's. He just had it all - the complete package. Leppards lack of chart success after he passed evidence enough just how critical Steve was as a creative force, lyrics, melodies, harmonies, riffs, bends, hooks, he bleeds through his guitars. Ross Halfin, who I would argue picked, or 'identified' Steve right from 1977-1978 and has taken 'the' most amazing set of live and pre shot pictures of Steve, that Steve let Halfin so close says a lot about their trust/relationship - Halfin imo rightly slams Steve's father for most if not all of the problems Steve had. All Steve ever wanted to do, it drove him, haunted him relentlessly - was to get his fathers nod, his appreciation and recognition. He never did receive that love. Halfin is scathing of his father and blames him for Steve's ultimate death. Videos like this are just incalculably special - they show the world a tiny snippet of a man who really could have gone on and done anything. Some real incalculable solace is as fact Steve left such lyrical and musical gifts not only for Leppard to tour off - he also left the world something stunningly special. Musicians like Steve do not come along often. Even the great EVH could not write lyrics even if he had everything else down pat. Steve died of a broken heart, I cannot even imagine the never ending grief his Mother had/has to endure. Thank you so much for this video. You do some really special 'Riffmaster' vlogging. Keep it up.

Halfin doesn't understand alcoholism....So he is saying if Steve got his fathers nod, Steve would have been happy?....It doesn't work like that for most people. It's like this...when you are widly successful and you don't get your parents "nod" you say to yourself "Well, that is on them. I am happy with my life and success" and you go on and live your life. That's how people who know how to live life handle stuff like that. A LOT of people have shitty parents and they don't drink themselves to death. Alcholism, at its core, is the lack of ability to handle life.

thanks for the reply, but I reckon I will stick with Ross. But you do make some really good points. The BBC telemovie which unlike that fact free BS 'The Dirt' the Leppard BBC movie especially the very early years was factually spot on, you can see how Steve ONLY ever wanted his Fathers approval, nothing he did was ever enough, unlike the other band members parents who fully supported and encouraged them, only Steve's Mum was his rock.
On Steve - aint much I do not know about him being humbly objective, never met him so there is that context, but his career - one can and does ALWAYS learn more and I will about this shy genius, but I'm 110% certain what I post about this tortured genius is fact. Great stuff mate, thanks.@@ashevillecomputer201

      I respectfully disagree.
WHY did Steve start deinking/partying? Maybe to get relief from the pain of his father dismissing him and his talent? Maybe feeling that he could never be fully accepted by his family, friends and band mates due to his early upbringing of never pleasing his dad?
Early programming as kids influences our lives regardless of whether we are actively aware od it or not.
On a personal level, my dad abandoned my mom and me when I was 3 years old.
If you think that hasn't affected every male relationship in my life since then you would be sorely mistaken. It has also affected my relationship with food because on the rare occasion he visited, he gave me piles of sweets and often encouraged me to eat to enjoy them even when I wasn't hungry.
It's taken me decades to overcome that programming but I'm still effed up in some ways.
Anyway, I think Steve's problems were more than just partying too hard.

The ones that still do this interview Steve and Rick go to cozy room right after until death, except Steve doesn't die and just stuck in there. Neither one can if the audience is very close to stage anymore I have plenty of both of them.
Too serious and real that they saw everything up to now here. No exceptions
They need to watch the video of me designing the first cozy room and how pissed Steve got not being able to teleport out
Only applies to real Steve Clark and real Rick Savage. I cant call those ones my human vampire because they won't become one
