- You might have thought your commute was bad but we dare you to compare with the jammed nightmare of Mumbai. Hundreds of women clog the platform at station and as an already packed to capacity train pulls in, women cling to the passenger doors. Mind the Gap? It's more like Where's the Gap as Mumbai commuters jam every space at Thane station in Mumbai, India's financial hub.
In London, where the tube can be overcrowded and sweaty, at least there's space to get off the train. The TransPennine Express service from Glasgow Central to Manchester Airport has nearly double the number of passengers. As this train slows passengers are running besides it trying to be by the door when it stops.

Mumbai is the perfect example of living Hell..and it has gone out of control beyond repair long back
Horrible over crowded india train system . How is anybody going to get
out of the train when people are rushing in, before anybody can even
step out....??? Huge amount of time is wasted at every station as
people rush + fight to get in and out +train need to stop for a few
minutes instead of few seconds at every station to wait for fighting to
stop
and that was at the women only train car! Imagine how rough it was at the general cars.

We are already too late, but still population control laws must be implemented in India. Although strict one or two child policies should have been enacted way back in 1960's and 70's,if it was done India's population today would have been 100-105 Crores instead of 137 Crores.

We have rided on one single finger of leg and hand on door almost for 25 years record with 8 to 10 people at a time on door from kalwaa to dadar during pick our ,
on one cane think about that idea today also , but we done it ,
Today there r 12 bogie and big compartment but that time we use to travel within 6 and 9 bogies with small compartment dubbaa local , with lots of late remark done by local train ,
unfortunate at that time we don't have such idea of recording proof BCz of money problem and time problem , and now look how easily they cane ride in coach but still suffering to get on door ,even though they have big compartment and 12 to 15 coach ,
Also these new locals from Siemens and bombardier have better air exhaust system. Old brown locals were a contraption at best.
