Interesting! Are the samples you recognize from anywhere in particular? I know that Annihilation from VLR has a sample from Episode 2 of Serial Experiments Lain and Power Room from ZTD samples Outro from the first Postal game. Now I’m curious if this one has any.
@@leckie3320 Actually I think I recognised them from a specific sample pack, 'Vengeance Clubsounds 1', I'd be interested in which samples you recognised from Annihilation and Power Room though!
There are a lot of other samples that I've noticed throughout the game's ost. For example, the guitar solo in the opening theme has been used in many other Asian media. I was wondering if you knew the names of any more sample packs or sound libraries that 999's composers may have utilized?
SPOILERS I love how this theme fits in every room it plays in. In Door 1 (Captain's Quarters), you can sense that something is wrong with Clover (in Axe Ending). She is quiet most of the time but still interacts with you in certain situations. Ace acts weird in the room before you entered the quarters. Both of them were not bothered by the dead captain. The music tells you that you are near the 9th door, but it seems off and ominous, especially since Clover and Ace have thoughts of murder/revenge running through their minds (in the Axe Ending). It is extremely scary to think that you entered a room with two psychopaths with you, neither hesitant to kill Junpei. In Door 2 (Torture Room), the room itself gives me an unnerving vibe. When Lotus sat on the electric chair, I was afraid that something will go really bad. Even after nothing bad occurred, the revelation that 7 had in the last room. I felt that I am near the truth of this Nonary Game but at the same time, I chose the wrong door. In Door 6 (Cargo Room), Junpei had suspicions about Ace's condition because of his hard time with the picture cards. However, that is not the main subject of concern in the room. You have Akane with you who had a fever. Junpei has to get her out of the room, the Nonary Game as soon as possible. The coffin did not help either. Overall, Senary Game feels eerie and exciting at the same time. There is this fear that at any second, something unexpected might pop up in each room. You are in the final door that leads to the 9th door. The rooms are the penultimate challenge that Junpei must face to reach the ninth door (or so he thinks), yet it feels that something is amiss in the situation, the rooms, and even your companions. The random truths and facts you have gained in other doors and rooms so far were not brought to light in these rooms. How does Santa's sister die nine years ago? Why does Seven have a memory of being in the confinement rooms? Who killed Captain when Ace and Clover were with Junpei in the chart room/wheelhouse? Senary Games captures the player and Junpei's feelings and thoughts with what they have seen so far. It expresses the sinister emotion each room has and how the entire game they are currently in have connections to each person, and I like it.
Honestly, the torture room is my favourite escape room in 999 by far. I love Lotus more than almost any other Zero Escape character, and this room shows off a side of her character she normally hides under a facade. A very caring, warm side, that I imagine must be lovely to experience.
spoilers: kinda funny how in the cargo room you have ace, santa, and june be the people who go in with you, while ace was behind the original nonary game and santa and june were behind the nonary game in the nevada desert
