I have been in the sign industry for 33 years. before i owned my cameo 2, 3, and now 4 pro 24" I have a graphtec cutter. and I always made my own sticky mats with 24" paper making tape taped to a 24" vinyl with the sticky side up.. I mainly made it to use scrap vinyl and to hold the HTV for cutting
Omg! Genius!! The only bad thing about this with Silhouette is if you have an issue with your machine and mention that to customer service, they will void your warranty.
I always clean my mat with water and a spunge. Then let it dry. After that I apply a light wash of ‘Aleene’s tack it over and over’. Let it dry and my mat sticks as was it new. I have my mat for years now 😀
I am obsessed with how you decorated your Cameo 4! New video idea: I have been looking for some inspiration to decorate my Cameo 5 and can't find anything. What are the best materials? How did you get your 4 so perfect and beautiful? My Cameo is pink, so I still want to see the color but it definitely needs some embellishing, and it seems harder to do than the 4 because it is much rounder.
The measurements took a bit of trial and error, but I loved covering my 4. I think it had 3 different skins in total. Lol. I used removable vinyl. I measured each section and cut out of copy paper, checked for accuracy, adjusted, and cut again until I had it just right. I should definitely do one for the 5!
Thank you! The glue I used in the video came in a kit, and I can't find a link to purchase it individually. It's called DIY print shop sgreen adhesive. I've heard a lot of people use Aleene's Tack it. You can find that here. amzn.to/3qqNBuN
Great tip! But imo metal is too strong, if you are going to buy something for this purpose I'd say a plastic razor blade works much better and also won't damage the sheet as much

@@silhouettesuccess I forgot to say thank you for your video. It was very helpful. Sorry If I sounded a bit too grumpy. I went from using a mimaki cutting machine to Silhouette and Im trying to figure out things. Its....a bit different for sure. But the basic is still there. :)

I've learned a lot from your videos. Thank You!
Thanks so much...I was thinking about using my adhesive spray but didn't think about the edges...glad I watched this Thanks again
I've done this quite a few times. It doesn't last as long as a new mat, but it will save you some money.
These tips are fabulous! Thank you so much x
You're welcome! I'm glad you're enjoying the channel.

Thank you for sharing, going crazy with my mat since it isn’t tacky enough anymore!
@@mahanoor3493 Good Luck. I'm sure you will manage to recover your mat!! You have to find out how much glue you will use. Not too much ... just try
I used just water and it came off. All the sticky came off! great tip thanks!!! if it get anything on it your screwed.
Ugh! Sorry!! You can re-stick it, but it's never quite as good. 😅
Thank you for these tips. My mat no longer sticks. I’ll try restoring it using mod podge and see it it works.
Is was so helpful! Thanks!

@@silhouettesuccess Brilliant!
To restick a mat I use clear contact paper placed sticky side up on the mat. It works great plus it’s only $1.25 from dollar tree.
I need to start doing this right out of the package.
Do you have a template for the cameo sticker? I love the holographic look ❤
Yes I do! drive.google.com/drive/folders/112i8MeNKu_w9HjiXrYSHDJruW2H7r4Q3?usp=drive_link

Does the blade not cut the transfer tape with the material?
It's fine, as long as your settings are right.

I've always used the metal scraper. My mats last about 6 months each, cutting daily. Just don't get them wet! That'll do them in for sure. 🤣

Replay- thanks
I hate these mats as a past ploter user. Its adding more space for error
I almost always use a mat, but I've never liked them. I feel like I mess up more cutting off the roll.

@@tarinvernon7007 your welcome! You didn't sound grumpy - just stating facts. Lol. Switching machines is frustrating.
I have one of those choppers in my kitchen! I use it to scoop up stuff on my cutting mat in the kitchen. Now it has another use!
@darlenemcclenny3909 yes! I need to get another one for the kitchen. 🤣
I should have watched this first 🥲 I watched a cricut one instead and just removed the sticky. Oops.
Oh no! 😪 Silhouette switched to a water soluble glue a while back. I really wish they hadn't.
Almost did that too!
Same 😭😭😭
