It's 2016. Just read on the Swix site about the dangers of wax "smoke"; greater or lesser danger, depending on the type of wax. Point is, today, a "colder" iron that does its job...taking a little longer... seems to be favored over a hot iron and a lot of smoke. I think we all know, there are particles in the smoke; extremely bad for you to breath in. So, colder iron, generally. Check the Swix site for more.
Nice explanations! There’s some disagreement about how long it took to iron the ski but I would argue that you kept it moving enough. Also there is a school of thought that says you should only scrape one direction bc it can lay micro hairs in wrong direction or create micro chips in base but there’s a layer of wax on top right? So maybe not such an issue. Overall thanks for the lesson
