Yesssss. Congrats Donovan and Joel. Donovan was one my top favorite teachers at musical theater school. What a special human and soul. Always knew how to brighten your day
Only talent/skill won't cut it. You need experience too. So, they must've done their act for a long time as well, or at least long enough for them to be confident on improvising on the spot.
Exactly. It's just like comedy improv. Nobody is great at it right away. Well, except Robin Williams maybe. Mortals have to learn to be comfortable with the fear that comes with venturing into the unknown. @@joshuaamadeusishak1887
ua-cam.com/video/CwcczK4tC20/v-deo.htmlsi=H8KiqaFmlklQMnvb I agree! So I tried to find anything else from them on UA-cam and here's a video that was posted seven years ago. Although from the red leather pants and black vest and fedora hat I'm guessing it might've been from longer ago than that. Here's the link
I was there in person at the auditions and it was incredible to see live! They also sang a second mash up, which was incredible and really showcased their talent because Lily picked a super weird song for that one. And yet they made it work beautifully with the other song that was chosen. It wasn't scripted, these guys truly did improvise.
How did they choose songs that they knew all the words to?! Or did the judges choose the songs and the guys did really improvise it all, but they project the lyrics for them somewhere? I think it would be fair to do it that way and not make it obvious they had the lyrics.
Yes, musicians, and especially people who are dueling pianos players have to have an absolute ton of things in their memory at instant recall, because they get requests all night long it's how they make their living. Just like you know certain things to do your job, they know tons of lyrics and songs because it's their job… And obviously these guys take their job very seriously! My husband and I are both musicians and recognize this kind of talent as the real deal. One of the comments I've read says one of the guys was a musical theater Director, at a school. So they've had a ton of exposure through different jobs to all of these songs. Quite genius and very entertaining. I would just like to hear the second song they did. Plus any others… They could go really far in a competition like this. And it would absolutely be an act one would want to go see while you were in Las Vegas or someplace else. Or catch them on a tour
Congratulations to you both! Donovan has been great at piano since junior high and in High-school as well. He entertained through live stream all through covid and takes requests and knocks them out of the park constantly. I can’t wait to see more!
Joel, the one in white, I've sang a few times with him while he was performing, he's amazing artist, we did phantom of the opera, that was great time. 🎉
That's incredible talent! Firstly to be confident enough that they will know the song choice, the words, but to play like this without any agreement on who sings which part, then overlap the lines... outstanding ❤
Think about the impossibility of getting all those things to work on the spur of the moment. Then you will realize that this performance was planned and practiced ahead of time. 😄
@@DavidSwain-ym5ln No it wasn't. You clearly have never met someone with this talent before but it does exist and it's astonishing and a real joy. That these two have found each other and blended it is simply wonderful. Read the comments from other musicians above if you don't believe me. I've known a few and just wow is all I can say.
But, it might not be that hard with many experiences on their belts. If they know a lot of songs and experimented with many mash ups even the most unexpected/weirdest one, this is just child's play to them.
What's funny is that while this one is random suggestions and mashing up, go check out The Axis of Awesome and their 4 Chord Song. Same premise, and actually starts out with Don't Stop Believing. They mash up about 20+ songs into one.
I was thinking that as well. They did that decades ago, and now there's some huckster on the internet becoming a millionaire selling a "teach you piano on 10 days" system based on their four chord demonstration songs. I'm sure they didn't "discover" it either, so it'd be hard to sue...
Just read someone is so convinced that these guys are not as talented off the cuff musically as they portrayed that they wrote It's obvious they pre planned it with the judges." They are so good people can't believe it. I'm a musician and have heard jam sessions. People are this good.
I'm an entertainer at Old Faithful several years, competed in a talent show got beat out by a rock band. So many came and asked me to play songs like what Billy Joel lyrics in Piano Man 'Not really sure how it goes. But it's sad and it's sweet and I knew it complete when I wore a younger man's clothes. I know a lot of pieces classucs popular. I could not begin to do what they did. Amazing. I sent this to everyone.
Please, if you think this hasn't been organised by the producers before and the duo and judges don't know already exactly what is going to be requested, then I've lost all faith in humanity!
THATS MY UNCLE OMGGGG. GO UNCLE DON!
Donovan is my hubby's cousin ❤
That's really cool!
THANKS FOR ALL THE SUPPORT!!!
❤🎉😊😮 that is absolutely awesomeness.
This is amazing! I hope they go FAR! They already have, and they could do so much with that!
Yesssss. Congrats Donovan and Joel. Donovan was one my top favorite teachers at musical theater school. What a special human and soul. Always knew how to brighten your day
This Act was deserving of a Golden Buzzer. Never seen anything like this before on any stage. Extreme Talent.
Agreed! I've watched Talent shows from many countries for over a decade and this is by FAR the best talent I have EVER seen! Incredible!
Do you know how much talent/skill it takes to do that on the fly? Crazy.
Not a clue and I love it!!

It wasn't on the fly it was scripted and rehearsed like all these "spontaneous" shows....
I love seeing the comments filled with family and former students! These guys were AMAZING!
Way to Go Donovan and Joel ❤
Donovan is my hubby's cousin.
They deserved the Golden Buzzer!
Can't wait to see what their next performance will be ❤
Yes they did deserve the Golden Buzzer!!!! Great talent!!!!❤
I mean, that was great.
The best part for me right now is reading the comments and seeing how loved these guys are already. 😊👍

Dang. How great for the audience!
Wish we could have seen that one too.
Wow.

@@jenniferduffy8783 the judges choose them.
But not before they are ready to perform.
The guys sing from memory.

I LOVE ACTS LIKE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations to you both! Donovan has been great at piano since junior high and in High-school as well. He entertained through live stream all through covid and takes requests and knocks them out of the park constantly. I can’t wait to see more!
Yesss Donovan!!! Crushed it. Proud to say that that man taught me 🥰🥰🥰
Joel, the one in white, I've sang a few times with him while he was performing, he's amazing artist, we did phantom of the opera, that was great time. 🎉
He’s my brother 😊
10000% Yes!!! Great job Gents. So much talent. ❤❤
Actually the best performance I've seen this year, plus the singer from NL ,he was a natural too.
Same four chords, that's why the mashup works so well
Recommendation -- Give a listen to The Axis of Awesome's live performance of their 4 Chord Song.
That deserved a GOLDEN BUZZER!!
Yeah, but then if they go straight to the final, you get fewer meshups from them!!
@@NeverFinished Oooooh good point!
Donovan was our neighbour . Really talented. @strongdamon, he has a library of songs in his head that would blow you away. Way to go guys :)

OMG ... that is out of this world, brilliant!!!
lilly being confused and amazed at the same time 😂😂😂 i’m dying 😂😂😂
It sounded so perfect that it didn't seem like it was improvised, Amazing.

That's a definite YES for me
ok that was actually well done haha I'd love to see them do more
On the FLY was awesome goid job guys
The best part is that they freestyle and that is the best you preformace you can do as there really is no mistakes when you free style
Let’s go Donovan!!🎉🙌
This was definitely golden buzzer worthy!
To improv at this level is phenominal!!
And this was totally spontaneous. Riiight

This was a golden buzzer....I mean,...super amazing....so unplanned! :)
This is incredibly easy to do if you have any musical talent

FANTASTIC!!!!❤❤❤❤
This is what happens when you have REAL musicians and not just “singers”.
🙄🙄🙄
I love this! So fun and talented.
Well done from the UK guys👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
They are great entertainers.
at was a pleasant surpriseeeeee!!!!!
Both Don't Stop Believing and Let It Go are so called "4 chord songs". They are based on the same 4 chords progression. So of course they match.
Axis of awesome. True.
Loved it dont stop was one of my favorite songs
That was awesome and got an instant few replays from me.
AWESOME!!💪💪💪

It’s actually very simple. Those songs have the same three chords in common. They’re very talented.
Unbelievable! :-) Love it.
