Just to clarify, it's not that people necessarily hate Victoria's voice. They just hate that the show didn't give the others as much of a chance to sing. Unfortunately, that can turn to hating her for something she had no control over.

Lots of people have probably addressed the dislike of Tori's character singing the most already. But if people actually watched the show it kind of explains why more characters don't sing songs(in a way of not saying it). Tori and Andre literally attend the school for singing as their major. Beck and Jade are there for acting, Cat does special effects makeup, and I forget what Robbies was.
Plus Victoria literally was the only ones to not rlly be as big as Ariana and Leon Thomson is currently rising more and Elizabeth is an actress still adored

I agree w/ this logic to an extent because the show is very inconsistent when it comes to which characters majors in which major, like in the crossover episode we clearly can hear cat have a amazing voice yet she supposedly to be a major in special effects/makeup or the episode where jade sings to beck during their breakup. these moment make you want to hear their voices more because they have already shown they are great vocalist that are better then or equal tori’s .
also, it doesn’t help the fact that the show doesn’t really highlight their major that much. we only see them in *one* class which is acting & because of this, I just completely forgot they all had different majors 😭
I always took “Best Friend’s Brother” to be sort of equivalent to “Stacy’s Mom”. The singer isn’t actually talking to Stacy/Best Friend, but instead just getting their feelings out through song, ideally without the people in question finding out.

@@winxclubflora8446 cat's brother did make an appearance !! he was on henry danger, played by frankie grande (which is hilarious). he was named frankini and was a supervillain, whos sidekick was none other than goomer from sam & cat. frankini mentions in the show that "goomer used to hang out with my sister and her friend", which is a hint to sam & cat. not only that, but frankie himself said that frankini is cat's brother haha
I just had the aggressive flashback of the freaking The Slap website they had for the show and it literally has a comment from "Cat" saying "Tori just sang this song, but it's not about my brother." Or something along those lines.
I always lowkey had the headcanon that Cat's brother was Crazy Steve from Drake and Josh. I know it's not true, but it makes so much sense if you don't think too hard about it.
i do believe avan jogia (who plays beck, the guy in finally falling) didn't want to do a lot of singing, this is one of the few times he gets a singing line. his character is mainly at the performing arts school for acting, i think.
Ding ding ding, right answer! All of the characters actually have a different area of study. Beck is acting, Jade is acting/directing/film (it kinda slides around), Andre is songwriting and producing, Cat is a variety of things from makeup and costume design to acting and performing, and Robbie is comedy and backstage work. Tori was the only one with a main focus on music
You're right! Victoria has a great voice. She's just one of those celebrities where it's popular to hate on them for some reason even though she's literally so talented and unproblematic. Never understood the hate she got back then and still don't. Seems like more people are starting to appreciate her now though at least.

It would be fun if you watch the ¡Carly and Victorious crossover without knowing almost nothing about both shows.

I mean that's honestly not a bad episode to go into cold. There are a few things that might be confusing to a newbie (like Trina being A LOT in this episode, esp with the kids) or some inside jokes a newbie wouldn't understand (like Shelby Marx), but because most of it takes place in a new setting for both casts and is centered around a plot away from their usual plots, you don't need to have a ton of knowledge about the shows.
Victoria has a great voice! People were upset that she was so heavily focused on when other members in the cast were amazing as well. Past her being the MC

@rainbowsubs1711 Show was about her yes. BUT it's set at a preforming arts school there is 0 reason not to use the others talents. Which didn't happen nearly enough.

But my experience watching the show, i did get frustrated that the characters who were obviously great singers hardly got a chance to sing. I know and knew Victoria was the main character and im not saying she shouldnt have been, but it wouldn't have hurt the show to give the other characters more chances. But then again if that did happen, people probably still wouldve hated her for being the main character, idk. Its kinda common for fans to turn against the main character when you make side characters really likeable, ive seen it in other shows too.
Since you want to hear more of André, I suggest 365 Days, Countdown and the Make It Shine Remix. Sadly, he didn’t get any solos even though one was well deserved. Also, I know you’d love It’s Not Christmas Without You. Those harmonies are magical!

I'd like to point out the best friend's brother song wasn't related to the show or episode... i'm pretty sure the song itself is meant to exist seperately and probably is more of a riff on Stacey's mom, you aren't supposed to assume someone was crushing so hard on their friend's brother that they wrote the song, so much as someone thought it would be fun to write a song about a hypothetical person crushing on her best friend's brother...
This crossover was the childhood equivalent to Avengers Assemble!!!

In "Freak The Freak Out" song, Tori have disquise because Cat and Jade make a bet those two girls in the other table and Tori was the only one they didn't know. Those two girls chose Tori to sing that song. They didn't know she sing that well. Those two girls lose the bet and they have to take care of Tori's sister Trina, after the dentist.
From what I remember, Kat and Jade were banned from the building because they sang better than 2 specific girls who were the daughters of the owner. The agreement was that the daughters could pick anyone in the building to sing in a competition against them, but the people in the audience were the voters instead of the dad.
I specifically remember that, when the 2 girls picked Tori in disguise, Jade (or the other girl who was part of the main cast) said "You don't want to pick her" and the daughters said "You said we could pick ANYONE"

Just you know, most of these songs have longer versions (usually with a second a verse) available on streaming platforms, but they shortened them in the episodes to save time
ALSO, Tori, Jade, and Cat have a song together in the Christmas special called “It’s not Christmas Without You”
It’s really tough being a Victoria Justice fan back then. I feel like watching someone else actually praise & appreciate her talents is oddly healing some parts of my inner child.
In the episode where 18:10 is from, Cat and Jade sang Give it Up in a karaoke contest, but they lost to the two girls who’s table Tori jumped on. The girls were “untalented” but they won bc their dad owned the place. Jade and Cat got banned, so they came back and challenged the girls to another contest, but the winner would be picked by the audience. They made Tori wear in a disguise to trick the girls into picking her bc she looked like an awkward “ugly” nerd.
So, “Freak the Freak Out” is the second song in that episode. The context is that the 2 mean girls got to win the contest that day when Cat and Jade sing because one of their dad’s is the owner. Cat and Jade later challenged them to a contest where the audience got to decide between the 2 mean girls and another of their choosing. They chose a disguised Tori, thinking they would win easily. This was set up by Jade, Cat, and Tori so they could get revenge.
I just want to see Matthew reacting to Trina, he's enjoying so much the songs that he needs to listen to Trina who had the best songs in the show.

The guy who had the tires and the gas canister is their acting teacher sikowitz and he is one of the best characters he just always does the most random stuff you should do a video reacting to out of context victorious because I bet there would be a lot of him.
I think people praise Victoria less because there was the perception that she was "full of herself" or had too much focus in the show. Tbf I dont know anything about her outside of Victorious but its always seemed a bit like hater energy to me, she really does have an amazing voice!
There was none of that tho people were mad that Liz and ariana didn’t sing as much so they tried to find any way and any non existent reason to put down victoria

People should blame the Nick's producers, who tried to make a second Miley Cyrus out of Victoria and make money from her, and not Victoria, who, due to rumors and bullying, could not do anything, neither sing nor act after the show. She even dislikes all of her songs that she sang on the show because it was Tori Vega and not Victoria Justice.
Nickelodeon even created their own record label to make money from the songs sung on their shows. After Victorious, they wanted to release a full-length album with Victoria Justice but after the failure of Gold and Shake they scrapped everything with Victoria

So Matt Bennett, the actor who plays Robbie in victorious, did these DJ events where he would only play Nickelodeon and Disney songs and you could just go and party to these songs, and I got to go to one of those events. At the event, he played Freak the freakout and I was so hyped I literally pulled off my wig like she did in the scene here and threw it. It is one of the highlights of my life because it took a lot of people off guard since they didn’t know I was wearing a wig and actually made Matt laugh

I'd once again like to recommend my favouritest song 'Okay' which is just Andre and Jade singing together and I love those two the most. Especially Jade, the reason for so many of our young lesbian awakenings.

CONTEXT FOR EACH SONG
LEAVE IT ALL TO SHINE: Victorious and ICarly crossover, they sang a mash up of their theme songs at the end.
FINALLY FALLING: Cat(red head) needed tori to be her model from her special effects class, she used gorilla glue on her Face instead of the regular glue, she did it because she’s dumb, but their is a play on her school where she has to be the pretty main character, this play is important because the famous writer of the play is coming to see it, so she needs to perform with the makeup in while cat goes and gets the glue remover.
HERE IS TO US: just tori and Andre singing in a song for a school Dance, but the reason they are singing this song is because Cat and Robbie (red head and afro) are now officially dating.
BEST FRIENDS BROTHER: just a song for the school prom doesn’t mean anything it’s just a song.
FREAK THE FREAK OUT: Cat and Jade (red head and emo) perform a song (the one you saw in the first video) against theses two girls, the girls do horrible but they win anyway because their father owns the restaurant. Jade and cat get banned from the restaurant, but they make a deal with the girls that anyone in the audience can sing better then them and the girls can choose who they sing against, little do they know that cat and Jade have tori disguised in a nerd outfit to trick them, the girls choose tori in disguise, she performs the song, she dose amazing and they win so now cat and Jade are unbanned from the restaurant

The deal with people not liking victoria's voice is she has like- the most basic of the group in the show. ppl also generally are kinda iffy on her character which I'm guessing influences their like for her voice too. not me tho I just love her voice its so clear and pretty

i love how much you complimented and like victoria! she is so amazing. most people love "classic" pop voices that are more bright and high sounding, which is also a singing style i absolutely enjoy! but i love strong and dark voices just as much, like victoria's. she also, like you noticed in this video, really is super versatile! in her newest songs she sounds so different, singing in a softer falsetto.

Thanks Mathew for acknowledging Victoria's beautiful voice. I know people love to hate on her for being the main character while "having the weakest voice" but she doesn't? I mean I don't think anyone on this show had a weak voice and yes Ariana is a great singer and all but her character wasn't supposed to be a singer so it's kinda normal that she doesn't sing much. People tend to hate on Victoria for really no reason because she's actually a kind person who didn't do anything to deserve this. But she really deserves people to accept that she's got talent and what makes me sad is how her singing career was "blocked" by all this hate because I would have loved to hear her voice in songs. So once again thanks for telling everyone "hey she sings well!" because it's true !

I used to love music-based shows when I was younger like Victorious, Hannah Montana and especially Austin & Ally on the Disney channel. Can you please do that one next? It's the show where Ross Lynch from Teen Beach movie first got famous on and it has SO many bops including Steal Your Heart, I Think About You, Don't Look Down, Upside Down, Illusion, Stuck On You, Heard it On The Radio and so many more. I’ve always loved Victoria for many years, the hate she gets is so unnecessary and i wish people would take her seriously as an artist and stop making her just about her character from a nick show that’s 10 years old. She’s so insanely talented and it will forever infuriate me that she doesn’t get even half of the recognition she deserves simply because of fake drama and her clearly being so good an actress that people forget she’s a real person.
She’s disguised because Jade (Elizabeth Gillies) and Cat (Ariana Grande) performed in a karaoke competition and lost to two girls who had a trash performance but still won because they are the club owners daughters, they comeback a couple days later challenge them to another karaoke duel where the winner is chosen by the audience not the club owner but the two girls who sucked refuse to compete against them because they know they will lose so Jade says I bet any person in this place could beat you two and they purposefully had Tori in disguise too look crazy and nerdy so that the girls would pick her as their challenger and as you saw Tori showed them up big time.

Why is no one mentioning LA Boyz? It's such an underrated song yet so good! Also Ariana sings in it as a duet with Victoria. Essentially, one of the guys' friends came to town from Canada and the girls all were paying attention to him instead of their guy friends so it is basically their apology.

An interesting 4th, if not 5th, wall breaking thought is that the actor the plays Andre in Victorious also played a character called Harper in iCarly when he was maybe 14 before Victorious was a thing. Also, Victoria Justice played a character called Shelby Marks in a special extended episode of iCarly; and they even give a nod to that episode/character in the crossover episode saying Tori kinda looks like the Shelby Marks chick Carly fought.
I LOVE listening to the full versions! Sometimes they don't, or maybe can't, fit it all in the episode and so cut some parts out. But they have music videos and their songs are on spotify too, and I love to jam out to them even now. Freak the Freak Out has a great ending (her voice is so pretty) and it makes me sad they don't put it in the show. The problem is that the show set itself up as if Victoria was the only one who could sing, as if she was the end all be all, and gave about 90% of the songs to her with everyone else splitting the rest. And she does have a great voice, but it is by no means the strongest

What I remember watching online, about it all was that there was drama with Victoria Justice and Ariana. Later alot of the cast members didn’t like to talk about Victoria in public. I’m pretty sure that Leon Thomas(Andre) writes music with Ariana and Elizabeth Gillies(Jade), Daniella Monet(Trina) and Matt Bennett(Robbie) was in her music video for thank you next, so I could imagine there was some bad blood between the cast and Victoria after. But that’s like with Glee and Lea Michelle not everyone like each other

I wish you could listen to the fully version of the song Freak the Freak Out, because yes most of these songs are longer, just the episode versions are shorter. Don't know how you could get reactions out of them, maybe find a lyric version and check if you can find out that's longer. I'm only saying that because how the song ends in the full version is a fun listen.

Freak The Freak Out is arguably the best song. Tori was dressed like that because those two snobby girls whose table she jumped on got to choose who would sing against them, so she made herself look geeky knowing they would pick her thinking she had no talent.
If you’re a fan of Victoria’s singing her and Leon’s duets always shine onscreen. Some duets of theirs you haven’t heard yet are Count Down, Faster Than Boys, and the Make it Shine Remix.
