- Cemetery Strolls, Episode 56. Christ Church, Sandown, on the Isle of Wight. A beautiful graveyard that surprised me, by the size of it. Unfortunately I discovered so many hidden in uncut bushes. I've also discovered some very notable people, with some fantastic history to them.

Beautiful cemetery, I wish they can remove the weeds and the dangling tree leaves. ❤
Thank you for watching. Me too, so much more to discover here. ❤️

Thank you muchly Joan. 😊
That was a lovely tour, Kev, with a fantastic ending. The Darwin connection is terrific! I was also intrigued by the French military grave near the beginning. It was clearly, as you said, from World War I, but I've never seen a grave like that before. I wonder how he came to be buried there. Great find! 👍
Thank you muchly Andy. I'm hoping when the church is open, I'll be able to find more out about it. 👍

was not Darwin's best friend called Mr Gravity ? // you know the Gravity of situations
'Crossed the bar' as a poetic expression for 'died' I think was originated by Alfred, Lord Tennyson. 🪦
Lord Tennyson wrote so much on the Isle of Wight.
