Instead of fix and sell. Would be more interesting to keep every project for half year as a daily after the fix. And see how's that owner life truely is.
Lol, I get what he was going for but the wording was a bit odd. I think a higher price point to restrict it to more serious renters who want that car specifically makes sense, but I'm not sure if only renting to wealthier people necessarily eliminates the 'it's not mine let's drive it hard' mentality.
One thing Nick didn't mention in comparing the $25K upfront vs $14K + $11K service financing plan: time in shop = time not available to drive. Wouldn't change his appraisal as he's implicitly factored it into evaluating his experience, but worth mentioning as a consideration in case anyone is crazy enough to want to follow in his footsteps.
Good point. And if you don't have multiple cars that's extra cost in rental cars or uber rides.

Keep up the awesome content, Nick! I rather enjoyed this serie., I kinda wish you would keep it longer, but I understand you're ready for what is next. I hope you get more than $25K for it when it sells. Looking forward to the 2025 project you do
@Anlettuce1 I didn't even think about the gearbox tbh because the powershit didn't sell at all here, there is literally 10x the amount of manuals compared to powershit automatics🤣all I was thinking about is engines which if you avoid the 1.0L ecoboom they're quite reliable
And yet, I have to agree that it would be a fair value experience for $25k. Especially if it runs a year or two with minimal additional costs. All hobbies cost money. Cars are not investments. I always compare fun car ownership to avid golfing. Year over year, they probably cost about the same with similar bragging rights, just to different target markets. Just have fun with your hobby and expect to pay money for the enjoyment and community it brings. Also, I love the styling and sound of this car and the Gran Turismo. SOMEDAY, I’ll own one. Once I get a proper garage.
As always great video, Nick! Thought you were going to get the British cousin to the G Cabriolet there but $150k? *coughspit* I mean, I can’t blame them for trying to piggyback on the G Cabriolet market prices given the rarity but still…it looks like a Lada!
Well those donuts got the prospective buyer a brand new power steering pump, as well as fixed an oil leak while we were in there, so I personally think it's a value add - but to each their own! Life is too short not to have some fun :)
@NickRoshon spoken from a man that doesn't do manual work for a living Most of us need our cars to earn a living and are not wealthy enough to have expensive play things
Yes. If you feel the alternator is going out then do not drive the vehicle, unless you’re thirsty for the click bait. You would had saved yourself the headache and other QP5 owners like myself reading comments from Toyota owners. I’ve owned a 09 QP5 for six or seven years now and have spent $10k or so over those years… including the cam variators, spark plugs, oil changes, belts, rotors, pads, alternator… These cars are absolutely worth it, given their price point. Find a well maintained example and it wouldn’t cost you more than $1k a year on maintenance. Brakes and rotors aren’t cheap, but if you can’t spin a spanner around then you’ll have to pay a high labor rate. Spin the spanner. It isn’t difficult… these are just cars. Working on my Boxster S was a million times more difficult. Also you got dp’d on the labor. I paid $1,752 for the alternator and labor. Yikes.
That said, I don't think I would pay somebody a dollar for dollar value for doing said maintenance...that just means you got a great value on the buy based on recent comps mentioned
This car was and still probably is one of my all time fav sedans...maybe some day when I can afford 12-25k a year maintenance expenses, I can buy one, lol

It's only me, or the central lower lip of the front bumper looks a bit off to the outside on the driver side? I've noticed on the takes outside the dealership. Not sure if its a flaw or just a camera effect.

Yes, I think I'm finally learning that lesson. It's just so satisfying to get the grime off!
I thought he was doing it for the content.
I only know from experience 😉 steam, a few detail brushes, a microfiber and compressed air is a great alternative.
Doug really surrounds himself with the right people. I love all four of them
