Hi Karen your top looks so nice and I love the material great job Your pants do look big will be good to see how they are when finished I had to laugh when you said you now feel like a proper sewist as you are paying more attention to matching stripes My Pjs I ve just made were a check and I didnt care about matching some did some didn’t but thought who’s going to see it I had some material left so decided to make a crop tank top but this time I did match the check so maybe I’m getting better at this sewing hobby ha ha If it annoys you then good job to change the sleeve if you have extra fabric The little mouse looks so cute and love all the gorgeous outfits which I bet is pretty fiddly to sew ❤️🌹
Hi Evelyn, Fiddly yes to that however once it sunk in that neither the mouse nor the mini human are going to complain about the standard (or lack of ) the sewing I did find it quite theraputic - so I can say I made a dress and a pair of bloomers in a few hours!! All schools (or most) finished for the summer holidays today which officially used to mean the start of the rubbish summer weather as the weather leading up to the end of term in July was traditionally glorious however in the three weeks since I filmed this vlog we've had exactly four days which were warm and the rest have just been wet! I had my next treatment this afternoon so I'm hoping to vlog tomorrow to catch everyone up on what's been going on. Hope you are keeping well and finding time to sew, take care 🥰xx
Love your top Karen, I also shop at pound fabrics, and have had a few fabrics that you have had, but the one you are wearing is out of stock, it is exactly what I like. You made a comment about previous items that you had made, weren’t 100% happy with that you wouldn’t have bothered to alter, but now would unpick and correct. I have found that is what I do now. Before, after making an item, if I wasn’t happy with it, it would go straight in the bin, now, I will unpick and correct if possible. That’s what happens when you have been sewing for a while. I have been sewing on and off for over 40 years, but it is only since Covid that I have really got back into it, my wardrobe is now full of me made items, so full in fact that I need to have a sort out. Love watching your vlogs, you are very down to earth, and that’s what I like. Take care
Thank you Carole - I'm so made I didn't buy more of this fabric I've had so many lovely comments about it - I still have enough for another top but I will toile it first so I know what I'm doing - I know the fabric wasn't expensive (as it could've been) but I love it so much I don't want to waste it. I hardly by anything in shops now - unless it's in a fabric I wouldn't attempt to sew or it has lace or something that I know I would make a mess of! I usually use this as a reason to buy more fabric - so I don't really save any money 😁🥰xx
Ah that's kind of you - I originally started sewing a couple of years before lockdown but I was thinking quilting and home furnishings then till I realised I couldn't sew a 1/4 inch seam (for a qulit) to save my LIFE! I had a really dodgy old 2nd hand machine and for my 50th birthday I bought my Brother I dabbled for a while making stuffed door stop dogs and then during lockdown I ordered my first fabric and made a dress from a pattern I had had for about 3 years!! I didn't have the first idea about how to read a pattern, fabric choice and started watching UA-cam 'how to' videos - I've only really being sewing garments for about 3 years now and every single one is a massive learning curve and to be honest quite a shock at how BAD I can be if I don't concentrate and read the instructions (this happens quite a lot!)
