- Actor Topher Grace (BlacKkKlansman, That '70s Show) presents Bo Burnham with the 2019 Writers Guild Award for Original Screenplay for Eighth Grade (Written by Bo Burnham; A24).
The 2019 Writers Guild Awards L.A. show was hosted by actress-writer-comedian Chelsea Peretti (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Parks and Recreation) on February 17, 2019 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.
The Writers Guild Awards honor outstanding writing in film, television, new media, videogames, news, radio, promotional, and graphic animation categories.

The Tech Dweller the reason why awards are kinda important is that it’s like last bit of marketing so the film can be seen by more people, just having that title may not mean much to you but for someone that’s the thing that gets them to watch it. I’m bummed 8th grade didn’t get nominated because I want more people to see it.

Whoa did not realize Bo was 6'5" until I looked it up after seeing him towering over Topher.
I'm also 6'5" with a similar frame to him. People would never know I'm so tall just seeing head and shoulders. In school I was often first to class and even sitting in my desk people couldn't tell because my torso looked so normal.

I like a good podium as much as the next person, but adjustable mike stands would be helpful, as demonstrated by the excited and overwhelmed Bo doing that awkward not quite a squat type of bending of knees to get his mouth near the microphone.
I feel like those mics are at a reasonable height for anyone who isn't a giant like Bo

Stog Dillion Donald Glover technically originally came from OG UA-cam with Derrick Comedy and I’d say he’s far more successful, but I truly believe there’s so much more that Bo is capable of and it’s his own decision not to completely play the game of Hollywood and pursue more

Among the best picture nominees at the oscar only Roma and The Favourite are justified.
Dyutiparna Guha Blackkklansman and Black Panther are great movies aswell, people fail to see past the fact that Black Panther is a superhero action movie and actually look at the story being told at the core of it, what it really is about.

I’m so happy to see Bo’s work appreciated!! Very deserved for eighth grade, but I always thought both what. and Make Happy deserved at least nominations. the emmys and the golden globes for example have appropriate categories, yet he’s always been overlooked.
He is light years ahead of anything that is considered comedy today. I'd give him all the awards for his specials but considering they weren't even nominated it's probably a compliment.

Richly deserved. I don't see how Oscar completely overlooked this movie. It didn't even get a nomination for Best Special Effects. I 'm very happy to see the Writers Guild recognizing one of the VERY BEST films of the year.
