- Hey Everyone!
I've been super busy eating multiple turkey dinners over the holidays😁🍗 so I haven't had much time for editing...
This is actually some older footage that was supposed to be part of an episode of - Being a Lineman. It was never used mostly because I felt the content wasn't quite a quality I was happy with 🙁! I decided to haul it out from the archives and see what you guys think??
Hope you all had a great Christmas and got to spend lots of time with your family - 😁🍻 Cheers!

Late to the party on this video but you're videos are great. Even the "raw" ones like this. I'm not a lineman or even an electrician (software developer) but still enjoy the heck out of your videos. Studied electrical engineering in school but switched to comp sci close to my last year (doh) but it's really cool to see the physical side of all of the phaser circuits we used to study. Not to mention all the safety protocol you follow. Thanks for making your channel.
Poor quality? The video is awesome no problems whatsoever, Merry Christmas to you too
I'm an IT guy by trade. Although I do my own home repairs and electrical work, I really just watch these videos because I find the stuff endlessly fascinating. I also love to better understand the infrastructure around me. That said, today I learned that when I see a pockmarked pole like this, chances are it's the result of many years of many linemans' climbing spikes. One of those seemingly obvious things that's never occurred to me! Keep up the great videos!
That was a new one to me too, I always assumed it was a result of pressure treatment and never really occurred to me some poles have more holes than others. Interesting tidbit.
Learned a lot from this channel about safety on the HT distribution side. Wired houses and garages to code in UK years ago...regs are always changing.
Swansea, Wales.
MarcBerm. liked your " understanding the infrastructure around me" comment.
We should have more of it.
@@tedlahm5740 Agreed! I wish more people cared about how the world around them works. If they stopped to look they might actually find it's interesting. 🙂
@@marcberm Totally agree! I find it not just interesting...but fascinating!
Haven't seen a video yet that wasn't interesting. Keep em coming, Bob. A Happy New Year to ya!
Thank a Lineman every now and then for working thru holidays getting up at all hours of the days missing countless warm dinners. Great videos and stay warm Brother Lineman.
Post it all. This is real life, everyone should see it in order to get the real perspective of the job and life. Not only that, you haven't posted a bad video yet.
My favorite videos when your up there.
Here's another one from the archives! 😁 I've been focusing most of my time on family over the holidays which hasn't left much time for any editing. Hoping you all still enjoy the content! I apologize for bad angles (That's why it was archived) .
You'll see in this video a cutout that completely fell apart. The rest of the pole was a bit of a sad excuse for nice looking work, but that's not why we were there... Anyhow, power was safely restored and now on to the next one!
Hope you all had a great Christmas and I wish you a Happy new year! 🥂
Family first brother! Dont mind the bad shots or b-roll videos. I'll take em all bud! Stay safe and warm!
Switch your go pro to wide angle or fish eye and are you guys opening up on any apprentice ship position for your company?
I didn't hear you knock the pole, and looking at that pole you wouldn't caught me dead climbing it even with my Buckingham buck squeeze, and mind you I've climbed some stupid poles but I guess getting older changed my climbs. Good with! Thanks for the view!
Just keep em coming we enjoy watching the workings of your job!!!!!!
Thanks Dan! 👊
Agreed
I'm just a homeowner. This is astounding. People have no idea what it takes to keep our creature comforts energized. I will never again whine about the lights being out.
Your leg muscles must have been singing after that climb. 👍
Those annotations are helpful. As a newbie, I paused at several points to identify the various parts of the system.
Thank you to you and all the other folks who have to work on Christmas day.
Thanks!
I’m still and apprentice I have not been on a mutual assistance yet and watching some of your videos help me understand how other utilities companies work also different equipment and procedures. Thanks
Loved it. Thanks for sharing it.
As always, a great POV video of what life is like as a utility lineman... Watching you work off the hooks made my knees and lower back start aching in sympathy... even now that I’m retired as well as reminding me why I made the decision 36 yrs ago to become an BC Provincial Electrical Safety Officer!!! 🤔😖 Your continued reminders to follow ALL the safety requirements & watching you work the tools are also a breath of fresh air. All those years I was involved in accident investigations and root cause analysis I’ve heard every excuse in the book about why someone thought that they DIDN’T need to follow them... Look to your family and friends, but most importantly that ‘mug’ that stares back at you in the mirror every morning and THATS why you do the right thing. Never apologize for any of your videos and keep following your rules!!
Stay safe Brother!
WyrGuy Rick!
Excellent work.
We loved it, thanks
Great work as always. Trusting your hooks is like trusting inside and outside blade edges!!
I love hard work! I could watch people do it all day!
Lovely as always.. Cheers
Absolutely love these videos!
This channel is gold. Keep them coming Bob!
LOVED this video. I love raw videos like this. Might not see everything but what you do is the real work. I hope you post more videos like this!
It's not the quality of the video, it's the excellent work that you do is the reason I watch the vids. Nice job. Well done.
Thank you for that. I enjoyed it. Despite not being wide-angle, I still knew what was going on. I live in Texas. You do a great job. I am paraplegic. Watching your videos gives me joy. If I wasn't handicapped, that is what I want to do. Keep up the good work and keep those videos coming.
Thanks Gee man! You feedback means a lot! Cheers!
Great work!! Stay safe 🙏
Aaron, your videos are always informative and entertaining. You do a great job and I can appreciate that you don't always have time to edit new videos so a few clips from the archive, even if of a quality not up to your usual standard, would be always welcome. I look forward to hearing a bit more about you and the channel. Happy New Year to you and your family.
Great video, even without the wide angle. Your content always provides entertainment and information . Thank you .
I am not a lineman so as far as I am concerned anything you post is interesting. I enjoy watching anything you people do on the lines. Stay safe out there and may God Bless all of you and yours. Hope you had a Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year.
I have been simply amazed by the things you pull out of the archive and call "sub-par content" !! Keep that stuff rolling!
Never work from a pole but worked off of tower servicing wind turbines. Have to plan out each step as you work
You are the man! Be safe- God Bless
Love see the content...even that which doesn't make the first round cut. Thanks for giving us an insight to the critical infrastructure and what it takes to really keep it going.
I liked it! Its fun to watch a line man work! More plz!!!
Cool!
Keep up the GREAT work!
Love this type of work video !!
Thanks Vance!
Beatiful work, Changing the cutout !😎⚡ Sure the customer was grateful. 💡🤗
Great stuff, as always, Aaron. Happy New Year to you and your family. 👊
Same to you and your family Alan! 👊
Just started in this field about a year ago. Recently started working on live secondary. I look forward to the day I can do this job while humming 👍
Great video! Love seeing you work a problem. You are terrific. I also love Canada, our wonderful neighbor to the north. All my best from here in Bloomington, Indiana!
That was awesome, thanks! 👍 Yes, please post more stuff like this.
That was interesting. Thanks for sharing with us.. Please stay safe and healthy
Happy new year! Thanks for the video. Nice to see a video on a C/O replacement, especially a climber. Keep up the vids and be safe.
Man I love these videos. Real world work, no nonsense or going on about opinions or pssing and moaning and belly aching. Top notch bud!!!
I enjoy all your videos.
I’m a lineman for the railroad an wish I could post videos on what we do as well but unfortunately it’s against their contract but good to see videos on it, stay safe stay strong everyone needs a lineman 💪
You post. I watch. Don't care if it's b-roll, from the archives, or whatever. It's all fascinating! :) Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the video
Thanks David! 👊👊
Video was awesome bro! Love watching whatever you post. Have a Happy & Safe New Year!
New ape here, love these videos, gives me a better scope of the work out there and a new perspective on the methods and techniques out there. Be safe and happy holidays.
Love it Always! Keep them coming!
I think this video was great would be glad to see more archive videos
When I saw you jumper out the secondary I thought, very thorough! Where I live our linemen are keen to listen for the operation of portable generators whenever out on storms. Very good job on that repair! Happy New Year too!
Generator John
... I also listen for gen sets because it tells me several things. First that the outage is not just the house where I am working. Secondly, it reminds me to check for issues of back feed on the job. Third (and this is overstepping my job) is I look for any gen sets that might be running inside a garage so I might stop in to remind them that this is a dangerous practice.
Your videos are awesome!!!
I like watching it all. Drag out some more!
Yet another great video sir !
Hey from Bathurst NB.. Thanks for doing what you do buddy.. Hats off to ya.. Happy New Years, Stay safe !
Loving these longer Videos.
Just what the channel needs as the content is fascinating.
I work with ROVs and my background is electronics and electrical but the work you do is a different level regards danger etc.
Appreciate the fact you are always taking time to stop and emphasise the safety aspects of your job.
Best lineman content I've seen.
I think I speak for the majority of subs when I say every single one of your videos is interesting.
I personally would like more of this type of content - more of the run of the mill work you do on a daily basis.
Keep them coming.
👌
Aberdeen, Scotland.
Awesome to see
Lite voice-over explaining stuff can be good for some parts.
Happy New Year to you and your family, Aaron! Stay safe out there! -Houston, Texas
The things I see here I’ll never do, or use. But understanding what you do as part of a system helps me understand that system and how it works. Thank you so much for posting these videos and Merry Christmas to you for helping keep the lights on and the heat running! 😁
Dude it looked great
I am currently attending nlc and this was really helpful. I know I have a LONG road until I am doing this type of work but any advice is truly appreciated! Thanks for the awesome video brother. 👍🏻
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR, Looking forward to the new year 👊
Thanks for the work you do. People have a tendency of not appreciating electricity till it goes off.
Love you videos they have so much info.
Thanks! ✌️👊🍻
It was a great video thanks 👍
That was great, to see how it's done close up, no worries about video quality, after all you have a job to do. Stay safe Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
apprentice out of local 17, always enjoy your videos Aaron!
Nice job . I like all that you do . Happy New year to you 👍👍
Great video ,keep em coming
Happy new year from New Jersey
we got really busy over here in east Tennessee over Christmas. 20,000 some odd people out of power, and lots of icy roads we're not used to.
Merry late Christmas and happy new year bud. Hope its the best yet!
👊 Baytown Texas. Thanks Aaron for the content and keeping the channel going. Im scheduled to start lineman academy at TEEX in Bryan/College Station in February
Great VIDJA’s 🧨💣🎥👍🏻
Would love to see some POV of some hot work!
Your system is so far removed from our system here in Victoria Australia, so watching anything you post is entertaining! Keep up the good work and God bless!
Your videos still great, I like watching your channel.
👊🏾 southeast Texas. Good work brotha
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Awesome video
More go pro video for sure keep them coming. Be safe
It was OK, not too bad. That's fine, I'd like to see more.
👊🏻😎merry Christmas
Great job from West Virginia
You may not think their worthy, but we enjoy them lots. Thanks for the distraction from my frustrations 😎
Great video! There’s no problem with posting videos that you deem poor in quality. I love seeing stuff from you. If I could go back to being 18 I would have made a path into being a lineman, I got a late start in the trades. I do love why I do now as a refrigeration technician.
Stay safe
hey man, you gotta keep things cool !!
This was still a good one.
👊 from good ole Kentucky bud🍻🍻🍻 cheers
👊👊🍻🍻
I’m about to retire from my coop in AZ, funny but my son watching your videos helped him decide to get in the trade 👊🏼
Another gr2at video Aaron..stay safer brother hope you mrs bobsdecline and lil lineman had a great christmas. And a pleasant new year I'm.in hospital cuz I tested positive for covid and this video has kept me happy and is always a learning experience as always
Newcastle upon Tyne, Uk 👍🏻
Pretty interesting seeing the different tools and ways you do things compared to us. Stay safe brother!
It definitely is! I wish the pole had of been a better example of our system, this was pretty old pole and poor workmanship all around.
What you got for a ride? Assuming on the account name..
@@Bobsdecline Oh no worries, around here almost every single back lot pole looks like this one, or worse. Theyre pretty old. We have a lot of open wire secondaries so its a mess. Man i made this name when i was like 14 or 15! Haha. Nowadays i have a Harley bobber.
Haha I'm in the same boat with my account name! That's pretty sweet I love the bobber style. I'm still riding an ol' tribal edition RR, can't shake the need for speed lol but I should would love a custom Chopper
@@Bobsdecline haha I hear ya there. Speed is definitely addicting. Haha. I have a car for that itch!
Nothing wrong with this video. It is interesting to see what you do. Things you will never see in the Netherlands.
The hands on videos are were its at👍 great job, stay safe and keep it all up from a fellow canadian😁 stay warm😂😂😂
nice job try to remember to install the ground lead first ( all grounding sets ) ground lead first on last off
i like the quick get it done videos also - those are the real person just needs the 1 house lit back up :) , and still had useful information
I'm glad that you don't climb from the ground with rubbers on. I don't understand why anyone does. Just causes way more glove failures
I've heard of a few companies making it mandatory 😔 I totally agree with you on this one!
Here in New England we have a ground to ground rule. We climb with gloves and sleeves from ground to ground even if the line is tested and grounded
The bad work practice of some, causes everyone to suffer. "Ground to ground" is easy to write and enforce. Insurance companies love blanket rules like that.
