      Can you imagine how big the one cup would have been on the day of Pentecost. In Luke 22:17 Jesus told the to divided the cup among themselves, so the one cup concept is a ridiculous teaching.

      @@aprilstum-w9e No I can't imagine that they would have used one cup but even though there were thousands of people on the day of Pentecost there's no evidence that they all were assembled in one congregation for the Lord's Supper. They people all left and went to their respective homes. Also in those days Christians generally met in houses for worship. Historically, individual cups were not introduced in the Church of Christ until the early 1900s. I was a member of a church that used individual cups and wafers for 20 plus years. I just recently began to hear about one cup, one loaf. I now attend a church that uses one cup and one loaf. It seems to me that the one cup containing the fruit of the vine represents the blood and the one loaf of bread represents the body of Christ therefore representing Unity of the Body. It just makes sense to me.

    • @aprilstum-w9e

      It’s really not about the cup but what is in the cup, Jesus said this is my blood and this is my body. Luke22:17-21 Never did he said that it represents his blood or body you are adding words that Jesus never spoke. As a Christian we understand what Jesus said, because we must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:24 It is spiritual when we partake of the communion(Lord’s Supper). And for the day of Pentecost it shows in Acts 2:1 that they were in one place(on the Day of Pentecost) this was the first Gospel sermon preached there were Jews of all nation and over 3 thousand gladly received the word and were baptized and continued steadfastly in the apostles doctrine and fellowship and in breaking of bread and in prayers. So after all that took place. It does show a daily gathering happening with one accord in the temple and from house to house I agree but that was afterwards. You can read this in Acts chapter 2

      Respectfully, I am not adding to God's word . I merely said "it seems to me that the one cup and one loaf represent the unity of the body". After all, Jesus prayed that we all be one as he and the father are one. John 17:20-23. Unity is implied ... Jesus took " the cup" singular not cups 1 Cor 11:25-26 . Absolutely we dont drink the cup but what is in the cup. As for the day of Pentecost, scripture says nothing about the Lord's Supper being partaken on that day. The people were together and took their meals together not the Lord's Supper. The official Churches of Christ were not established until after the day of Pentecost. I'm continuing to study this matter and praying God will give me insight on it. We always want to worship in Spirit and Truth and it's all about doing God's will. I just want to make sure I'm worshipping the way God wants.

    Enoch and Elijah didn't go to heaven without dying. Yes, God had intervened at the time of Enoch's passing and he was transferred, or relocated, so as not to see death by the hand of those who wanted him dead, Hebrews 11:5, but that doesn't mean he went to heaven.
    Nobody went to heaven before Jesus:
    "Moreover, no man has ascended into heaven but the one who descended from heaven, the Son of man," John 3:13.
    Likewise, though Elijah was taken up in a windstorm that didn't mean he had died at that occasion or went to heaven either; rather, he was transferred to another location and assignment.
    Later we read how he wrote a letter to one of the Israelite kings:
    "Eventually a written message came to him from E·liʹjah the prophet..." 2 Chronicles 21:12.

    Hey there! Just wanted to share some interesting thoughts with you.
    Have you ever wondered why the church of Christ doesn't ask its members to pay tithes today?
    It's because neither Christ Jesus nor the New Testament Apostles paid or received tithes. The early church followed the Apostles' doctrine, and there was no instruction to pay tithes in the New Testament age.
    Instead, the New Testament emphasizes a different approach to Christian giving, as explained in 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 and Acts 11:27-30. So, rather than focusing on tithing, Christianity follows a unique pattern. Just thought I'd share these reflections with you!

      The spirit of man is his breath. God breathed into Adam the “breath of Life” and his lifeless soul became a living soul. That is the body that was created came to life. At death the breath departs and returns to God and our lifeless soul (body) goes to the grave. This is the Biblical teaching. The idea that we somehow live on in Heaven comes from Hellenist and other pagan doctrines.

    Romans 1:16 - For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
    So here is the gospel that we must believe to be saved:
    1 Corinthians 15:
    1 - Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
    2 - By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
    3 - For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
    4 - And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
    Works do not save.

      Works come after being baptized into Christ to maintain our right standing with God. No works of the Law can bring us salvation, we are His workmanship created in Christ unto good works. Then God gives us the grace to be careful to maintain good works and thereby be acceptable to Him and avoid the consuming fire. (Titus 3:8, Hebrews 12:28,29)

    The bad people are in the heart of the Earth in Hades. The good people Jesus led into heaven, according to Ephesians 4:8 and also fulfilling, the verses, “ & so Will we forever be with the Lord after we die”, and he’s in heaven.

      Ephesians 4:8 is talking about freeing men from the captivity of sin and giving gifts on the day of Pentecost with the impartation of the Holy Spirit. In 1 Thessalonians 4 where it says, “So shall we ever be with the LORD.” It’s talking about the Day of the LORD, when we’re raised from the dead. There is not a scripture in the Bible that says that when the righteous die, they go to a place called Heaven.

      Ecclesiastes 12:7. When the body dies it goes to the grave and the eternal spirit goes back to the creator who gave it. There are no souls in heaven. Only spirits. All spirits whether good or bad, only God knows where they are kept for judgment.
      Genesis 2:7 explains what a soul is. A body with the breath of life. The spirit animates the body. At death, the soul ceases to exist.
      There is only a Spirit wherever God keeps them until judgment. At the resurrection, all Spirits are given an eternal body. It can't die again.
      2 Corinthians 5:10 explains about the judgment. Our rewards are based on what we do in this life, how we treated the offer of salvation.
      The one who receives this free gift by Messiah at Calvary will spend eternity in the new Jerusalem on the new earth. Revelation chapter 21. The righteous are first to arise. Revelation 20:6.
      1,000 years later comes the resurrection of the wicked. The one who rejects that salvation, is cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:7-15.
      This is Scriptural truth. One better heed this while one is alive. We choose our own destination in this life.
      The parable of Lazarus and the rich man is speaking of the final judgments. The new Jerusalem on the new earth and the lake of fire.
      Revelation chapter 20 refutes what these 2 men are saying about the righteous and wicked arise at the same time. That's not true.
      And there is no pre trib rapture. Matthew 24:15-31 and Revelation 11: 14-25 makes this clear. Matthew 24:29 says AFTER the Trib of those days in Matthew 24:21-22. Revelation 11:14 says the resurrection comes AFTER the 6th trumpet which is the 2nd woe.

    You quoted Ecclesiastes saying that at death the body returns to the earth and the spirit returns to God who gave it, neither that verse nor its context makes any distinction between the spirit of the just and the evil. So by that logic the spirits of both men would have returned to God. It’s a story, not a true account of what factually happens at death. Jesus used and old Egyptian fable about how the rich have more favor with God than the poor, and turned it around to illustrate the hypocrisy of the Jewish leaders.
