I was wrong, these videos will never get shorter. Expect my last "How to Play" video to be 3 hours long going into detail about the character's animations and lore.
When I first saw that you were doing character guides I was really hyped and excited for the ranno video, and finally here it is! This series has made me a better rivals player and I would like to thank you for content like this!
42:29 upair 1 into up smash/strong can be true, you have to jump cancel the upsmash/upstrong rivals has a mechanic where you can cancel the endlag of an aerial ON HIT into jump squat which in turn can then be cancelled into upstrong. because you are cancelling the jump squat frames with the first frames of upstrong, the opponent won't be able to parry it up air 1 -> hitfall -> jump cancelled upstrong

Thanks for doing this. I don't really want to play Rivals. But I have a friend who plays rivals and I just picked a random character and doing a tut on how to play them well
Somehow I can't pull off the DownTilt into Wavedash + UpSmash... I'm not even close to hit the enemy in time. Can I cancel the DTilt? Or am I missing something else?
You prob figured it out but you need to DACUS to catch DI out on d tilt, not wavedash. Easy way to get it consistently is to set a trigger to attack and strongs to right analog/c stick. Run forward hit the trigger and then up on the c stick within a few frames and you’ll get a sliding up strong
i just picked up the game and figured out if you connect all 3 hits of dair you can true combo bair which is a decent confirm they kind of pop out above and behind you at mid to high percents idk much about the game though so idk haha it seems to have follow up options though not sure why he considers it a bad move you can get nair or fair even out of it or up air if you fast fall but perhaps its easily sdi'd out of i tried with computer sdi'ing tho and they couldnt escape it and if they di out you can follow there di and still land bair so idk xD
@@JanitorMusician I just found out that you can hit fall the last hit of dair. Pops you out at a perfect angle at 0 percent. You can also hit fall the second and first hit dairs.
Most advice I've seen on Dair is to use on tech chasing since It's hitbox is long lasting. You can hitfall hits 1 and 2 and to finish of stocks with upstrong if your opponent is unprepared for it.
I labbed a little bit and I figured out it is dash attach into d-strong, but I can only get it consistently with up strong. Is there an easy way to do this?
The thing at 6:00 is actually an Up Smash, not a Down Smash. Also, he should have explained what a DACUS is, but he mentions that he is doing it in the video. This dash attack into U-strong is called DACUS (Dash Attack Cancel Up Smash), and you do it by cancelling dash attack in the middle of the animation into up smash.
Diogo Moll G Pastro Thanks! Can something similar work for other smash attacks as well? When I was figuring out how to do this I managed to do it with d-smash as well. Was that something weird, or was that like a DACUS but with down-strong?
I was wrong, these videos will never get shorter. Expect my last "How to Play" video to be 3 hours long going into detail about the character's animations and lore.
Lol I don't mind the longer videos
Longer videos means more tidbits of info, that will help alot for newer players to intake the information about the character
good
they don't need to get any shorter!
Thanks for making this vid this really helped.
I have been playing Ranno and had no idea hitfalling could do so much.
Just bought the game since definitive edition dropped and this is the only decent guide Ive found. All others are combo montages.
wdym Clairen was really good for education

Yay Ranno, now I just need to wait for the Clairen How to.
See that stick on the right? Just run around and spin that shit
Really just spam nair. same works for forsburn but SLAP that right stick
The best part about Ranno is that you can turn his poison white and it funny

Kinda but honestly he has more shiek attacks. Bair, and Nair

I love this, sad you forgot dair tho. Any good uses for that? I personally like to combo it into spiking fair if the stars align

i just be dash attacking and it be working
did fullstream just forget that down air was a move? I specifically came to this video to see cool ways i can apply dair :(
