What these firefighters and ambulance crews do is so heroic. I watch these videos because of the skill and expertise of these men and women who put their lives in danger to save ours. What they have to endure at these scenes cant be easy. They are true heroes. I feel very sad for the people in the accident.
No; they're not heros. This is their job. It's just a job. They train for it. They're paid for it. They can quit any time. Because it's just a job. Heros work for free. There are few words in the English vocabulary more abused or misused, than the word 'hero'.
Lots of people commenting on the number of emergency workers at the scene. I can tell you that when you're an EMT pulling up to a scene like this, you're happy to have backup. People will be yelling and screaming at you. Everyone will want you to treat their loved one before anyone else. Your ambulance will get raided as people pull supplies out of it. Nothing you do will be done fast enough. It's easy to sit back and criticize when you've never actually been responsible for handling a situation like this. And if you do know what it's like, have a little common courtesy and respect for your brothers and sisters on the job.
Well said Will. Precision, control, concentration, accuracy take time. Do people want a quick job or an expert job. And shoot all Rubber Necks. There are heaps MORE Rubber Necks than there are Rescue personnel. But then the idiots here have NO right to judge how many rescue personnel were need. If it was they family they would want heaps right NOW. To all the "UA-cam rescuers" that have rescued anyone or anything do you know the qualification of each Officer their expertise that may be need (but NOT be used now)? Know it all people.
This kind of accident should be shown more often. More people should see what a solid object will do to a vehicle that hits it. Maybe people will SLOW THE FUCK DOWN.
Robert Creamer I agree 100%. After I started watching crash videos on UA-cam, I stopped speeding. It's so not worth it. It absolutely can happen to you, and if you drive like an idiot it's not a matter of if but when.
If you notice. It is called a human curtain to avoid the exploitation of any parties involved in the accident. They shield the onlookers from seeing the really horrific parts of the scene.
If it were you and your family you wouldn’t be complaining on the amount of people there. Also there is a reason why they block the view from bystanders. Another reason is there’s a private orthodox Jewish ambulance corps in Brooklyn NY which were on the scene.
Most of them aren't doing a thing, but just standing around, getting in each other's way, and anticipating their overtime and/or hazardous duty bonus ! Disgusting !
I think the reason they all stand around like this is nobody on the outside can see what's going on, you know, people like us watching the video for the outcome.
Hey I learned how to do this last week! Well, the actual firefighters were doing it as a practice hands-on scenario because there were a few new firefighters including myself who are in training.... It was really cool to watch and learn it!
Well said. I have done some research since there have been so may racist comments about Jews on this page. Hatzalah response to an incident averages at 1 to 2 mins and 4 to 5 mins at night. Which is amazing
I understand to protect the scene, but when you have FDNY, NYPD and others trying to do their job, the least the people could do is let the proper agencies deal with the scene.
I must say there are too many people walking around and gawking, when they should be doing their jobs properly. There was a female officer in particular who couldn't stop gawking. Many people in the way of firefighters working hard. And too much EMT equipment in the way, including stretchers and back boards. When the fire department is battling fires, there is someone in charge of directing the operations. I think in accidents and extractions like these, it would be very helpful to have one person in charge and giving orders. 2 questions: Are paramedics in NY also firefighters? And do Hatzolah EMTs respond to every accident in their neighborhoods or just for members of their community who are involved in the accident? This was heartbreaking to watch knowing someone died and others seriously injured. I would hate to be seriously injured in an accident, waiting to be rescued, but alert enough to realize something like this was going on around me and my rescuers.
Yea, your English is awful. I do this for a living, I have every right to say something. And 9/11 was 15 years ago, I'd be willing to say most there on this call were not on the department then.

Then, back to "quarters", and prepare for the next call. How hard is all that?
I completely agree with your comments. Despite some griping that most of the negative comments are anti-Hezolah, I think there is clear evidence that far too many of them are just standing there gawking. How many EMTs did they need for a car of 3-4 people? How many ambulance drivers did they need? Why was one wearing flip flops? You don't need to be an expert to say that the crowd of emergency personnel standing around simply watching was excessive.
