Mapa is Filipino for map. In this song it's used to describe the directional role of parents, a conjunction of Mama + Papa, and of mata (eyes) + paa (feet). Leader Pablo wrote the song during the early days of the pandemic when the guys were in isolation, missing their parents.

Very rarely do i hear songs of gratitude for parents. A lot on broken hearts, pledging forever love, etc. That is one reason why I stan this group. They thought to write a song to their parents...as a parent I hope to hear my kids be at the very least thankful.

SB19 always put effort in their songs vocally and lyrically. Their leader/songwriter Pablo is such a thoughtful lyricist. He has bars even in their ballad lyrics (MaPa literal meaning in map / MAta-eyes/PAa- legs; MAma/PApa) that's like a triple entendre. You should listen to their song ILAW. A song about mental health and how fame and society in general affects our state of mind. They are definitely not just an idol group but true musicians. I hope you would continue to react to them.
MAPA has always been my favorite song from SB19, and it was the song that led me to them. When I feel like a long for my parents now gone, I listen to this song, as it feels therapeutic to my heart.
Hope you continue on and watch the live performances of this song, they did a good performance on the Wish USA bus. You would also enjoy the band version which is a collab with Ben&Ben band. Another good performance was during the Forte Charity concert where they had a an orchestra with them.
It may seem repetitous to watch same song live, but they always manage to add a special showmanship element to it.❤

The live performance on wish bus makes you cry
This song was how I discovered SB19 while taking care of my elderly dad. It was so inspirational! It's become a favorite performed by the students at Filipino graduation Ceremonies. The Wish USA bus live performance has English subs and my favorite performance is a band version colab with Ben&Ben, a folk rock band in the Philippines! Every ballad they do is so emotional but best to watch the official MV'S, lyrics videos or visualizer for the English subs since they are all in Tagalog. The language is so poetic and you find yourself singing along. By the way, Latalatala is a Filipino lullaby sung to Children at night. Keep exploring!
