The first time I made Jill Dalton’s wfpb classic vegan cheesecake, my middle child announced, “Mom, you have just won the Great British Bake Off.” We’re forever in her debt.😁
Jeremy, I am with you 100%! I grew up cooking and baking. I cook and bake for a job. I can not begin to tell you how much I dislike poorly written recipes. I have the knowledge and skills, like you, to deal with the discrepancies, but it sure takes all of the fun out of it and adds a lot of frustration 😬. Thank you for your honest and entertaining reviews!
I have this cookbook and tried many of the recipes. The only one that I tried the same as you is the cinnamon roll oatmeal. I cut the water in the sauce to ½ a cup and it turned out great. I used the leftover sauce as a base for ice cream and it gave the ice cream a great texture. Seems like you hit the not so good recipes and I happened to use the best ones. Others that were a favorite with me were: Indian butter chicken, mushroom bourguignon (made mine in the instant pot), mushroom potatoes soup, strawberry vinaigrette, Thai green curry, peanut butter cookie and moroccan vegetable soup. There were more that I liked as well. I love to watch her videos as I cook. It's too bad that you happened to choose the recipes that weren't very good. Great commentary on the recipes. I don't think I will try the ones you made. Thanks Jeremy. Always learn so much from your videos.
Great review once again! Thanks so much! I have tried many of Jill's recipes from her vlogs and they never turn out right... I have to add more seasoning or cut back on the high fat... so I'm with you on this one! Sorry Jill :(
For someone who dislikes cooking VERY MUCH - I was drawn in by the title (MADE EASY). I only made two recipes and thought... well... I do not like cooking, it must be me. These are not easy and it took WAY longer for me to make than the time stated in the book. SO, thank you for your honest opinion - it let me know I am not alone. I really enjoy her videos. She makes it look easy! Just didn't work for me. You have given me permission to donate. I am sure someone else will find it very helpful.
I like your honesty. I like her videos. I am glad you did talk about the amount of fat used throughout in the recipes, and the photography. That matters on our side. I like that people are commenting on recipes that they make and like, so maybe I can borrow from the library first, or see if she has the recipe online, and try those recipes first. Your videos and your family's detailed, descriptive opinions of the food is helpful.
I have made something from her channel but it was a bland mush disaster. I thought it was just me! Thanks for this review - it made me feel much better about my cooking skills!
@@pbwithjeremy just made your tofu fried rice from the cookbook…..with a powercut happening half way through the tofu being in our electric oven! We had to adjust it slightly and did everything on the gas stove top by candlelight! But it was AMAZING. The whole family devoured it. We’ve also made the cheese sauce and the shepherd’s pie - all fantastic. I’m doing 2 new recipes a week. I’m making the apple curry tomorrow. I’m sure you put a lot of work into your cookbook, so thank you for all that hard work because it makes such a difference having a wfpb recipe book with such good recipes in it that work so well. Plus, being from the uk, I appreciate you putting ingredients measurements in weights 👍☺️. I’m also loving the extra little bits like the tweaks you suggest on the bottom LHS of the page and the space for notes on the bottom RHS.
Ive been following her for about 7 or 8 years and I’ve made quite a few things from her recipes. They have all come out great! Her pizza is amazing! I love Jill!! ❤❤
@@pbwithjeremy yes I did! I was racking my brain trying to figure out what happened for you guys? I made it about 7 years ago so I’m curious if the recipe changed 🤔the tofu pepperoni was really good though 🤪
When I became Vegan 4 years ago, I paid and did the Daltons 30 days Plan as my first step to becoming Vegan. I Found the recipies easy to follow and were really yummy. Watching the videos made everything better and fills in the bits they miss in their recipies. Jill is Australian and hubby is American. They live in New Zealand now. Well they used to. Their daughters are very talented in the Arts. The youngest has a mucic CD out. The second cook book has been out for a while now and the recipies are better in my opinion. Watch some of her videos for what you have made. There will be some ahah moments for sure. CJ
It sounds like you've been on a plant-based journey for a while, and Jill’s recipes have been a great help for you! I love that the videos are there as a resource but the book should be able to stand on its own as well.
Regarding the cookbook, I agree with you completely regarding the instructions etc.. That being said, two of the desert recipes are a big hit in my family. I had to adjust the amount of some of the ingredients for them to come out right. Thank you for reviewing cookbooks. I now know it’s not just me having difficulty with this book! 😊
Thank you for your honesty Jeremy. I have had good luck with some of Jill’s recipes (Sloppy Joes, Mushroom Stroganoff, Chickpea Salad), but had to throw the Pumpkin Loaf Bread out and I never throw anything out.
I love your family and your videos. They're educational, brutally honest, and I'm always laughing through every one of them. Just ordered your book. It better be good!!! lol.
I love watching Jill’s videos and appreciate her passion for helping people thrive on a plant based diet. I don’t have her cook book but have made an enchilada casserole recipe from her UA-cam channel. Unfortunately my result was a bland and mushy mess. I hate throwing out food, but was unable to finish it and it ended up in the trash. I think that in the future, when I try more of her recipes, I will treat them as a jumping off point, use my instincts and modify them. Thanks for the honest review. I know you always want to support your fellow Plant Based creators and sharing negative feedback doesn’t feel great. Keep up the great work.
This is my experience with her channel as well. The first thing I ever made from a you tube video was from her channel (some sort of potato and kale thing) and it was so bad. I didn't throw it away but I lost 3 pounds the week I was trying to get through it.
We appreciate all the hard work that goes into your channel and book reviews! I'd be upset if i made these recipes for sure. It's such a waste of time and money to not enjoy what you worked so hard to make!
I love Jill. I’ve made her Brussel sprouts salad and apple frosted muffins many times. I get loads of compliments for these. Can she up the spices and heat it some if her main dishes, yes. But I still love her cookbook and have given multiple copies to my relatives.
I have both of their cookbooks but now I think of it, I have been making only her desserts and directly from the channel for years😅. They are really tasty and as whole food as they get because she always uses dates as a sweetener and has a huge variety of desserts. They are the only ones I make regularly and have probably made them all multiple times over the years. Having the chocolate cupcakes while watching this🤣
So to answer your question, PB & J, I have made that pizza often and I have to say that we just loved it!! I'm actually thinking of making it tonight. We LOVE the crust!!
EphPie! Edit to add: regarding the smoky 'tikka masala', the smokiness might have been from dry frying the spices. since there's coconut milk already in the recipe, i recommend using some of it to saute the aromatics. it's a trick I learned from a Thai cooking teacher. :)
This is the first (and thus far the only one) vegan recipe book that I bought. I don’t like sweet things or desserts, but I have tried some other recipes and I really enjoyed them.
I bought one of your "Don't Yuck My Yum" hoodies. I love it! My husband has adopted this phrase as his motto, and you would be surprised how many times a day he has to say it to someone. I love your family (they remind me of mine). Thank you for the videos!
Hi Jeremy. I love when you review cookbooks. I trust your reviews to be fair and honest. I really appreciate that you point out lack of directions or weird amounts of an ingredeint, etc. I've run across this and then I'm sorry I bought the cookbook so your saving me money!! I swear some of these cooks don't even go over their cookbook before publishing it. Regarding Jill Dalton I started out watching her years ago on UA-cam. The ones I tried just were not good. I'd eat a few bites and never wanted more. So needless to say I wasn't going to be buying her cookbook.
I had been watching Jill‘s videos for years. I like her personality and her presentation. The few recipes I tried from her videos I found to be lacking flavor and had to adjust them. I bought this cookbook when it first came out. I found the index so frustrating because it’s just alphabetical by the title of the recipe. Example, if I want to make hummus, you can’t just go H. For cookies you don’t just go to C. I sent her a suggestion regarding the index on her second cookbook. I don’t know if she took it.
Wow-that’s crazy that they had so many errors in their cook book! I have made a couple of whole food Plantbased cooking show recipes & have enjoyed them. One that is in my recipe rotation is the Mushroom Stroganoff. Really good flavors and not too time consuming. It can be paired with pasta, potatoes or rice. The sauce does make about double the amount you actually need, even when pouring it HEAVILY on your base. So I end up eating over all the bases mentioned for a few different meals.
The best recipe I think that’s in there is the plain hummus. It’s really good! I get what you’re saying on about the instructions. I had the same experience.
A very fair review of all the volume 1 cookbook recipes you selected Jeremy. I enjoy all of Jill's videos and frequently save them as pdf for my recipe file or refer back online. I have purchased the ebook of her Volume 2. Yes, as mentioned here, she could up the spices and heat in some of her recipes, but she's cooking for her family, so I can adjust to my taste. (Think of all the comments the NYT recipes get, with suggestions!) I did decide to try the pizza myself, following the online directions which are current and, along with video show parbaking for 10 minutes. It seemed to me common sense to bake the crust at a higher temp than 350, so I went with 425 and after letting it cool for 5 minutes had a perfect hand-held slice (to which I had to add some spices to enjoy!). I gave it a B- Next I'll have to try the bread!
My husband’s cardiologist says to stay away from Coconut oil/Coconut anything. I appreciate your honesty in this video. The one thing I did make of hers was a huge fail.
I do agree about the amount of having to guess and figure out. I’ve just been cooking so long I just do my best to figure it out. Look forward to getting your cookbook.
I'm into Jill's channel for the deserts! I'm not crazy about her almond flour based crusts but so far, I've loved the deserts I've tried, my favorite being her Christmas cake! I don't alter recipes because I tend to mess up when I do. Watching the videos first is fun and helpful!
I used to watch Jill Dalton constantly. At the end she would always say how delicious it was. Rarely did I agree. I finally stopped watching her very glad I found you. I like the more honest reviews.
I'm a 70 year newbie plant based and I actually ordered the Dalton's cook book. I haven't tried anything yet as I'm still trying out recipes from Ann and Jane's Warrior's book. I really enjoyed this video and I'll certainly study each recipe. Your book is next on my list to buy, I just found y'all on UA-cam 2 weeks ago.
Love love love Ann and Jane's Warrior cookbook. I have tons of books in this category and it is by far my fave. I like Jill but find her recipes lacking. I have her first cookbook and have not been pleased with results. Thanks for this honest and clear info on the new book.
I don’t have any of her cookbooks, but I do have a recipe that I love, from watching her UA-cam channel. BBQ soy curls! The BBQ sauce is delicious! I tear the soy curls into smaller pieces because I prefer the texture that way. Stuff the bbq soy curls into a smart pocket with some Cole slaw, it is really good.
I am so anxious to watch this, I had ordered that book when it came out and sent it back like a week later, but I can't recall why. More than likely for me, of things are too many steps, I won't do it.
With any gluten free crust, whether it be almond, oat, cauliflower or other gluten free flour pizza crust, after blending you need to cook it so that it hardens so the sauce doesn't sog up the crust and then warm up the toppings... It's pretty standard with gluten free cooking. I wish she had specified it.
Jeremy, these videos are my fav you do!! So fun. I did have this cookbook and sent it back after a week. i made the apple pie and a broccoli casserole and each recipe was a fricken journey, amazingly long and too many steps with very little reward. I feel like the author and her family are way beyond many who just started in terms of how they taste things. Everything was bland, and other recipes I have tried from her website were tasteless. I would never give this book to someone just starting, it would make them quit. Books like yours, and Plantyou Scrappy cooking are my kind of cookbooks , tasty and easy. I know many people like Jills recipes and thats great, but I respect that you stuck to your guns and told people the truth about how you, and apparently many people feel her book.
Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm thrilled you enjoy these videos-they’re some of my favorites to make, too. I really appreciate your honest take on the cookbook and how it didn’t quite hit the mark for you. It’s such a good point about the importance of accessibility, especially for people who are new to plant-based cooking. If recipes are too complicated or bland, it can definitely feel discouraging. I’m so glad you’ve found books like mine and *PlantYou* to be helpful and approachable-that’s exactly what we aim for: tasty, straightforward recipes that make this lifestyle enjoyable and sustainable. Everyone’s palate and preferences are so different, and I totally get that some people really connect with Jill’s recipes while others don’t. I always try to be honest in my reviews, because I know how valuable that transparency is when you’re investing in a cookbook. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts-it’s great to hear your perspective!
Thank you so much for doing this video and making all these recipes of Jill’s. We have tried many of Jill’s recipes that were fantastic but not any of the ones you shared in this video. We have been on this journey for 3 years now and we just started our own UA-cam healthy cooking and lifestyle channel as well and we are happy to have come across yours. We have just subscribed to your channel and excited to watch some more of your videos. My husband just said you did one video review on Nisha as well from Rainbow plant life and we absolutely love all her recipes so we are excited to see your video review of hers as well. 😊
Unfortunately I have to agree with some people's comments. I've tried some of Jill's recipes from her videos and didn't like any of them 😔. Same happens with the Jaroudi family's ones. At least for my taste 😕. Caitlin shoemaker's older oil free recipes are awesome though 😋. I make her chickpea pot pie and the butternut squash/green apple creamy soup all the time! My go to quick pizza crust is whole wheat pita bread. I can easily pick it up😁
Was happy you were reviewing her book and found the same thing as I did. She would leave important things out. Recipes were not good and now I wished I had not bought this book.
I have that book and unfortunately I’ve had to watch the videos to understand the recipes because vital steps are missing and I had no idea what I needed to do most of the time. 🙃
Hi Jeremy and fam, shout out from Lake Whitney Texas. I purchased her ebook but haven’t fixed anything from it but I made a dish from her UA-cam channel. It was a Brussel sprouts salad (supposedly irresistible). The dressing that goes on the salad was horrible. I’m so glad I did not pour it on the sprouts before tasting it. The dressing has raisins, sunflower seeds orange juice etc in it. 🤢 To each their own tastebuds. Will be interested to see what you cook and hear what you think about the book.
I think it is so sad. I love Jill's recipes but I pick and choose them on her youtube channel. To be honest, I often adapt and adjust her recipes. It is nice that she has a video for each and every one though.
Yikes! Many struggles. The No Refined Oil, Sugar, and Gluten Free label on the book is misleading as one would think it would be healthy. I have the book but it’s gathering dust. I’m a fan of her lifestyle and appreciate her journey.
I did find some of the website recipes lacking clear instructions and I had to refer to the video. If you like spicy foods hers are bland, so spice it up. I think she’s from the midwestern US so their cooking isn’t really spicy anyway. I used her cheese block recipe as a guide and made changes to make it not so bland.
I agree, love Jill. My daughter and I just up and add the spices to our taste. Her “not chicken pot pie”we add and up the spices, , vegan dry chicken stock, lots curry and jackfruit for chicken texture. We use hers as a fail safe base and just add to our taste.
Love the way your cookbook has the ingredients and instruction organized❤ Unfortunately, several of Jill's online recipes have errors and typos, but we do like her Zucchini Breakfast Cookies. Lawrence takes them with him when he travels.
A lot of the recipes from Jill's first book are a miss for me, but I do enjoy the pizza. It did take a bunch of experimenting with the recipe to get to the thickness and texture that my husband and I like. Most of the time I use a cauliflower crust that I found on the internet.
My lady got so excited about the physical copy of the PB With J cookbook, but when I click the link, it only seems to be the ebook. How can we get a physical copy of your cookbook? Thanks in advance!
Hi Jeremy! Susie here from Winfield Pennsylvania! Love your videos. One of my favorite recipes to make are always a simple stir fry. They are simple, straight forward and yummy!!!
Hi from Chicago! I came to your channel through Kathy Hester and am loving it! I just bought your cookbook and am having it printed/spiral bound from Lulu printing. I'm excited to try some of your recipes! I don't have kids but it's fun to watch what you go through with yours 😂 They're adorable. Thank you for all you do!
Thanks Jennifer. If you want a hard copy we’re doing it through a similar printing service but at a better price since it’s not a one off. And we autograph it. E-mail me if you’re interested pbwithjeremy@gmail.com - glad you’re enjoying the channel!
I love her channel and I love her buckwheat blender bread. Awesome with a little jam and pb or homemade ricotta. I will keep the book for that. I have both of them. I am also low fat.
Yes, there are definitely some dates left out in the book’s recipe for her cherry pie! I had to watch her video when making it the first time but forgot to note what I did so the 2nd time I made it, I just winged it and it wasn’t as good 😂. My whole family loved it when I followed the video instructions, not so much when I guessed what to do using the cookbook.
i have made some cookie recipes and breakfast recipes from Jill's channel and they were great. That's a bummer that the pizza didn't work out. I'm always looking for a pizza crust that isn't just a bunch of flour. Would love to see you review The Vegan 8 cookbook. It's WFPB and mostly gluten-free.
I don’t prefer to have fruit in my oatmeal and I also like it thin enough to drink out of a mug. I like things more on the plain side and when I want bold flavors I tend towards Indian
I love watching Jill's videos, though I confess I've not tried anything she's shown. Comments here make me think I need to try desserts, if anything. If I had a question about a recipe with a QR code (this is new to me and a great idea!), I'd probably go to the video to see the step I'm stuck at. Every time you had a question, I kept wanting to say - check out the applicable video chapter for the recipe! A minute or two to answer your question. :) Thanks for all the cookbook reviews!
I would also refer to her videos via the QR codes, but, to your point, that shouldn’t be necessary. The bread looks very good but tasted like bandaids? I love watching Jill’s videos because the recipes seem easy to follow and her food always look good. So sad that the recipes in her book have errors and didn’t come out good, considering the time, effort and money spent. I have the book but haven’t cooked from it yet. I’ll check out the recipes suggested by the other commenter here. Oh well, not all can be winners. Disappointing. I’ll still watch her YT channel because I like Jill’s personality and her presentations and food demonstrations.
Is your cookbook only (Family Favorites eBook)? I'm asking because when I went to your link that's all I saw. And I also wanted to ask, of the vegan recipes in your book do you share any of them on here so I can try them and see if I can make them? Thank you for any help or info.!
Love the channel! Also I really think you guys should use Merle’s ranking scale. It doesn’t make sense that there’s an S, but no D. Hers is the best - it’s got all the levels and is really well defined - “the vegans have gone too far” I mean, come on ;)
I like having 5. I mean going from D to F is the same as C to F since hers leaves out the E too :) - I love her ranking system but hers is more about ranking how well something translates to vegan so not sure it makes sense for what we do.
I tried a couple of her recipes and they either did not come out or were not very good. I feel that this type of review allows for her to improve the next cookbook.
I'm one that definitely wants specific directions and don't like to guess what the author of the recipe meant. I would not purchase this book - thank you for your review.
The Amazon reviews are pretty good. One person did mention the fat content. I noticed that on her channel. I like her channel, but I have to be honest, I don't search it out. There are a lot of other vegan cooking youtube channels I like better. I am right now on a Chewon vegan kick. There's also Healthy Vegan Mama. I enjoy your channel content. Thank you for reviewing her book. I do want to make the tofu pepperoni though.
I do not have Jill's cookbook to make the recipes, but I have tried a couple of her online recipes. Her vegan banana bread is very good and simple, so I have made it many times and recommended it to others. I am not a fan because she advertises a supplement. However, I am glad you said what you did about the photos. I have not seen the photos in the cookbook, but on her website, I have been very disappointed in the photos of the food. As you said, they are muted, lack the color that food photography should have, and have kept me from trying more of her recipes. I am sorry, Jill, because you seem like a very nice person.
Jill is my favorite plant-based chef because they are all so tasty and healthy!! @Cindy - At first, I was slow at making them, but then got faster. Also, 'made easy' might not mean quick. I can say that for me, 'made easy' meant not so much quick, but meals with complex flavors that are plant-based at my fingertips without having to figure out how to veganize my favorite dishes. 🙂
I've watched some of her videos, but don't follow her. One reason is that she does use way more fat than I like, and that her recipes are geared for a family, which is different than simply batch cooking. As far as her book goes, I haven't seen it, but it screams self-published. I know something about publishing, since I am from back in the day when self-publishing was first starting and suckering people into going that route. The quality of self-published books can be very, very iffy, especially when the author doesn't get a professional editor involved. Your book is the first WFPB cookbook I have ordered and will be the only one I've ever bought. Part of why I did is that you have demonstrated admirable professionalism. This is why I like your video reviews of these authors, not to mention the brutal honesty of your children. That in itself is very instructive.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment-I truly appreciate your trust in us and your kind words about the book! It means a lot that you’ve chosen our cookbook as your first WFPB purchase, especially given your background and knowledge of publishing. We poured a lot of love and effort into making it not only practical and approachable but also professional, so hearing this feedback is incredibly validating. I totally get your point about recipe styles-cooking for one or batch cooking is a different game than recipes geared toward feeding a family. That’s one of the things I love about this community-there’s space for all kinds of approaches, but also room for critical conversations like this to help everyone find what works best for them. As for the honesty from the kids-it’s definitely a feature, not a bug! 😂 Their feedback keeps things real, and I think it adds a unique dynamic that viewers like you find valuable (and sometimes entertaining). Thanks again for being here and for supporting what we do!
I do have this book and have some recipes I liked & some I didn’t. I tend to make my recipes more from videos, so although I did have some issues with directions on some, I would click on the QR code & go to the video and watch her make the recipe to figure it out.
They are strictly WFPB, so their recipes are constrained by it, and I think they are creative not traditional recipe developers. I have tried several of their recipes and love their deep dish pizza. I do add seasonings because I am not strict WFPB. I have never had an issue with any of her recipes, but I am a seasoned cook.
Actually they aren't just whole food plant based, they follow the "nutritarian diet" of dr Joel Fuhrman, which is salt, oil and sugar free, and focuses heavily on maximizing nutrient density. Sometimes unfortunately, is not considered the most tasty or satisfying option, but it's definitely beneficial, especially for someone trying to reverse or manage chronic diseases.
@pbandjeremy could you do a video on best ways to cook tofu? Trying to incorporate it more into my diet but struggle with getting the texture and flavor right. Thanks!!
Thanks for the honest reviews of your videos. My kids usually would have the same reactions as yours in trying recipes! lol I can't have too many fats in my diet either, I try to stay away from coconut milk and use it sparingly....since going PBWF, I am always looking for good recipes and books! Purchased your family cookbook and looking forward to try that.
One of my dogs does the whining with the good toys or treats. She wanders around trying to figure out where to hide them. Then we find a stash of chewy bones under the cushion of her dog bed in pristine condition.
Maria from Denver. Hi! I love and appreciate their channel so much. However, I made the pizza too and it also took me an hour and a half. I concluded never to make it again due to so much effort. I use their pepperoni recipe and do my own thing. I find I don't reach for that cookbook very often unfortunately. If I do, I put my own spin on things. Not for a newbie wfpb cook. I think her sweet recipes are better.
The first time I made Jill Dalton’s wfpb classic vegan cheesecake, my middle child announced, “Mom, you have just won the Great British Bake Off.”
We’re forever in her debt.😁
Awwww
okay this made me very curious (again)!
Everything I have made of Jill's has been a keeper for us. I love her video style - so straight and to the point.
It is SO frustrating when that happens! And you're welcome
I appreciate the feedback and am glad you had such a positive experience with the book! We just pick what looks interesting to us.
OMG Why am I just learning, today, to place pie dough between two pieces of parchment paper to roll it out !!! This is genius.
You're welcome!
Great review once again! Thanks so much! I have tried many of Jill's recipes from her vlogs and they never turn out right... I have to add more seasoning or cut back on the high fat... so I'm with you on this one! Sorry Jill :(

Your cookbook reviews help me a lot! Thank you.
We are so glad to hear that!
I wonder if the crust would turn out better if it was baked before the toppings were added and then bake again with the toppings
I have cooked quite a few of her recipes from this book...however, I usually watch the videos first 😂.... Her taco pizza is phenomenal!!
Ive been following her for about 7 or 8 years and I’ve made quite a few things from her recipes. They have all come out great! Her pizza is amazing! I love Jill!! ❤❤
Did you have success with the pizza crust?
@@pbwithjeremy yes I did! I was racking my brain trying to figure out what happened for you guys? I made it about 7 years ago so I’m curious if the recipe changed 🤔the tofu pepperoni was really good though 🤪

I know this was hard for you, but thank you for being honest.
:)
Thank you for your honesty Jeremy. I have had good luck with some of Jill’s recipes (Sloppy Joes, Mushroom Stroganoff, Chickpea Salad), but had to throw the Pumpkin Loaf Bread out and I never throw anything out.
I THREW OUT PIZZA! PIZZA!!!!! I feel you.
Hehehe It’s Boquete…and the best way I can phonetically say it is: Bow-Ket-Tay…But I love you for trying❤
I tried!!!
I love your family and your videos. They're educational, brutally honest, and I'm always laughing through every one of them. Just ordered your book. It better be good!!! lol.
Thank you!
Thank you for the honest review. Very much appreciated.
@@anneharris3475 I made the potato kale thing from her UA-cam channel and I threw it in the compost.
I have the cookbook, I’ve tried several recipes and unfortunately none were tasteful, I don’t use the book anymore
I will definitely try some of her baking recipes. I want to start sweetening my baked goods with dates.
We appreciate all the hard work that goes into your channel and book reviews! I'd be upset if i made these recipes for sure. It's such a waste of time and money to not enjoy what you worked so hard to make!
I think the book is so so. I like her recipes on her show much better. I own this book
I found this video very helpful. Thank you for your honesty!
You're welcome!
I found this video very helpful, I was interested in this book, but will bypass it. Thanks for your honesty.
Did you make it from the video or the cookbook?
EphPie!
Edit to add: regarding the smoky 'tikka masala', the smokiness might have been from dry frying the spices. since there's coconut milk already in the recipe, i recommend using some of it to saute the aromatics. it's a trick I learned from a Thai cooking teacher. :)
There are too many good vegan cookbooks out there to deal with ones like this. Thanks for reviewing- these are my FAVORITE videos from you.
Thank you! We’re so glad you love the videos and the hoodies!!! Your husband is awesome. Thank you for sharing this. You rock :)
Thanks for the feedback! We always try to be honest with our reviews.
I know - it's a little frustrating. Good on you for reaching out to her!
Love your videos. Sorry, how would I be able to obtain a hard copy of your recipe book? I’m not fond of ebooks
E-mail us at pbwithjeremy@gmail.com
I have the book, I am GV too, and made the bread at least 20 times. Always nice and tasty!
Glad you had a good experience with the pizza!
My husband’s cardiologist says to stay away from Coconut oil/Coconut anything.
I appreciate your honesty in this video. The one thing I did make of hers was a huge fail.
I use soy milk instead of coconut milk/cream. We eat a lot of curries and don’t need all that coconut fat. 😊
@ us too. I love WestSoy. It’s just soybeans and water and it doesn’t taste beanie.
I have this cookbook and absolutely love it!
We are glad you are enjoying it!
I do agree about the amount of having to guess and figure out. I’ve just been cooking so long I just do my best to figure it out. Look forward to getting your cookbook.
Available now!
I love Cherry Pie too 😅
“I have no idea what I just ate!” 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I appreciate the honest review!
You're welcome!
Joyce - I'm 75 and new here too- have tried a few of PB with J's recipes and they're really fun to watch too !
That's awesome! Glad you're enjoying the channel, and we're excited for you to try our book!
How do you like Ann and Jane's book? I'm thinking about getting it
@@SonyajnbvijjkhjnvModugnotheir book is better than this one.
Love love love Ann and Jane's Warrior cookbook. I have tons of books in this category and it is by far my fave. I like Jill but find her recipes lacking. I have her first cookbook and have not been pleased with results. Thanks for this honest and clear info on the new book.
Jeremy...I bought the ebook when it became available for $15. Will I automatically recieve the hard copy version at no extra cost? Please let me know.
No extra cost in terms of our profit. You’ll just pay for the hard costs of the printing and shipping.
This review might remind you why...
@pbwithjeremy 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for the review, you have made my mind up for me lol
With any gluten free crust, whether it be almond, oat, cauliflower or other gluten free flour pizza crust, after blending you need to cook it so that it hardens so the sauce doesn't sog up the crust and then warm up the toppings... It's pretty standard with gluten free cooking. I wish she had specified it.
Me too!
@@pbwithjeremyShe did on step 10. Bake for 10 minutes.
I have the cookbook. On page 46 Cheesy Broccoli and Rice Casserole I have made this twice. It’s really good and better the second day
I make this a lot, even my husband likes it!
How do we get hard copies of the book
Ours? E-mail me at pbwithjeremy@gmail.com

Her videos are well done. They are designed to go with the cookbooks, which I have the ebooks.
I love the QR code for the video! What a good idea
Our pleasure!
We're excited for you to check out our Nisha review - you'll love it!
@@pbwithjeremy Can't wait! We will watch it tomorrow morning and let you know what we thought. Thank you for the reply. :)
I can easily pick it up😁
I often add raisins/sultanas to the rice when I’m using it with Indian curries.
We add some to our Moroccan stew :)
Glad it wasn't just me!
Same here.
EphPie
Love the way your cookbook has the ingredients and instruction organized❤ Unfortunately, several of Jill's online recipes have errors and typos, but we do like her Zucchini Breakfast Cookies. Lawrence takes them with him when he travels.
Thanks for letting us know - happy they're easy to follow!
A lot of the recipes from Jill's first book are a miss for me, but I do enjoy the pizza. It did take a bunch of experimenting with the recipe to get to the thickness and texture that my husband and I like. Most of the time I use a cauliflower crust that I found on the internet.
Wow, that cookbook sounds like it needs a major revision.
Thank you for reviewing this book and saving me money from not buying it! Love your channel!! Keep up the good work!!🥰
You are welcome! We try to be helpful!
My lady got so excited about the physical copy of the PB With J cookbook, but when I click the link, it only seems to be the ebook. How can we get a physical copy of your cookbook? Thanks in advance!
So sorry for the late response to this! E-mail us at pbwithjeremy@gmail.com - taking orders for a few more weeks!
I don't have kids but it's fun to watch what you go through with yours 😂
They're adorable.
Just made your taco soup recipe. Delicious!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
I love her channel and I love her buckwheat blender bread. Awesome with a little jam and pb or homemade ricotta. I will keep the book for that. I have both of them. I am also low fat.
That sounds like a great way to enjoy the buckwheat bread!
Yup. I think that’s the issue. The book is meant to be a companion to her channel and doesn’t really stand up on its own.
i have made some cookie recipes and breakfast recipes from Jill's channel and they were great.
That's our book!
@@pbwithjeremy So not in "book form" to order? Only to print off myself?
Love the channel! Also I really think you guys should use Merle’s ranking scale. It doesn’t make sense that there’s an S, but no D. Hers is the best - it’s got all the levels and is really well defined - “the vegans have gone too far” I mean, come on ;)
I like having 5. I mean going from D to F is the same as C to F since hers leaves out the E too :) - I love her ranking system but hers is more about ranking how well something translates to vegan so not sure it makes sense for what we do.
Yay new video ❤
I made her lentil bread (buns) from YT several times - 10/10
I tried a couple of her recipes and they either did not come out or were not very good. I feel that this type of review allows for her to improve the next cookbook.
I totally agree!
Also many of her recipes from this book are on her website
Ephpie 😊 hello from Bristol, England. Am really enjoying your cookbook, making Annie's loaf tomorrow 😊
How did it turn our Trish?
@pbwithjeremy it was delicious, I'm definitely going to do the loaf regularly
Jill is my favorite plant-based chef because they are all so tasty and healthy!! @Cindy - At first, I was slow at making them, but then got faster. Also, 'made easy' might not mean quick. I can say that for me, 'made easy' meant not so much quick, but meals with complex flavors that are plant-based at my fingertips without having to figure out how to veganize my favorite dishes. 🙂
Glad you enjoy Jill's stuff!
I wonder if that pizza crust would benefit from par baking, before topping?
My thoughts too
Jeremy, have you ever found a good cauliflower pizza crust?
Not yet
Ephpie! If Jill's sucks, i gotta see how great Ephraim's pie is.
I mean - it's all about perspective - HE thinks his is great :)
@ I didn’t know that, thanks! I just thought a true WFPB diet was that.
THere's lots of cookbooks that are strictly WFPB and don't have these issues.
@pbandjeremy could you do a video on best ways to cook tofu? Trying to incorporate it more into my diet but struggle with getting the texture and flavor right. Thanks!!
A Tofu 101 is in the works!
I once made a pizza base with almond meal too I found it sooo heavy and got fed up with it very soon.
I’m so excited for you to try our book!
One of my dogs does the whining with the good toys or treats. She wanders around trying to figure out where to hide them. Then we find a stash of chewy bones under the cushion of her dog bed in pristine condition.
That's EXACTLY what Rufus does!!!
